This is our home gym. Sure it's not cheap but you get what you put into it. My wife, my son and I…read morehave been members for over 2 years. Only recently did our fees go up but again it's worth being a member if you go enough and take advantage of any of their other amenities like their daycare, the indoor and outdoor pools. We have heard there's a waiting list and believe it as it does get crowded at times but not super crowded. I have been to several other Lifetime properties in the Chicagoland area and this is in my top 5 locations. The staff is great as well as the trainers that work there. You can tell business is good when you rarely see a trainer solo. Instead they are working with clients, training away. I do find it strange that the GM trains some people as he's taking away from his other trainers. The folks at the Cafe are wonderful and friendly as well. Let's not forget about the workers at the Daycare! Doreen, Wilma and their crew all work their tail off taking care of the babies, toddlers and kids. God bless em. There is parking lot parking available but at times it does get full.

My friend invited me to brunch at Midtown Athletic Club (they are a member). The public can't just…read morewalk in, there are gates in the lobby and I had to scan a code (and fill out my info) before entering. I visited Midtown before as a prospective member so I know that guests can only enter a limited number of times. We went upstairs past the cardio machines (they are plentiful) and the weight area to the cafe. There are tables and booths that overlook the outdoor pool area (closed for season). It wasn't a large brunch but we had some made-to-order omelets, bacon/sausage and fruit. There was also some potatoes and pastry. When I sat down to eat I received a text from Midtown about a membership. The brunch was bottomless although one omelet was enough for me. I also had two emails from Midtown when I got home, one a waiver of liability and the other a membership offer. I didn't join as a member on my previous visit and I am not going to join now. I already have a Pilates membership that includes three studios with classes from 6am-8pm. Midtown has a Pilates studio but none of the class times work for me. They also have some reformers in the middle of the cardio area reserved for private lessons. If I have a private lesson I would prefer to be in a secluded area, not in the middle for all to see. The facility has many machines, a boxing area, a cycling studio, a theatre, a spa, a cafe, courts, pool, etc and this is a great place for those who need this. There are families who spend the morning at lessons, classes, workouts, then join up in the cafe. This is great for those who are looking for this but it doesn't fit my needs right now.

I debated writing this review. I really wanted to like this facility for my boys to train at. Met…read morewith the owner and discussed a minimum of 2 athletes but possibly more, with a couple of their friends. The issues started with our first session where the trainer contacted me about 2 hours before the session and said he was not able to make it. No reason was given for missing. I then had to chase the owner and the trainer to get the session rescheduled. The owner agreed to take them a couple of days later which I appreciated. We decided to move the session from weekends to weekdays with a different trainer and asked if we could start the sessions at 4:30PM due to after school functions and the owner agreed. On our most recent session, one of my boys was ill, so we sent just the one. Imagine my surprise when we were charged $120 for the hour. I also found out that the regular trainer had been showing up late anywhere from 15-25 minutes for their sessions. The owner was who was working with another athlete was working with my kids until the trainer arrived while splitting time with someone else. Not fair to his regular client and not fair to my kids. I was never made aware of the time issue with the trainer. The owner did say that they preferred to work on the hour and not half hour. However, he did agree to 4:30. When I reached out about the large charge for 1 kid and finding out that their trainer was arriving late for every session, the email that I received was: "I will refund you guys completely. I personally warmed up XXXX as XXXX (Trainer) arrived to the gym, he took over the sessions. in all honesty, I don't think this is a good fit for us. The 4:30 time slot is not great for us and the number of athletes has not been consistent. Sorry for the inconvenience." Remember, he originally agreed to the 4:30 time slot. Even if we chose 4:00PM, the trainer would not have been there at all. Also, with the exception of this last session, there was always 2 at the session and once a friend joined in to make it 3, so I am not sure what consistency he was looking for? I responded that I agreed it is not a great fit and went through all of the mentioned issues and that we would find a new facility. Follow up response was best of luck to you guys and happy holidays.
