This is my second review of Fitness First - my first one is dated 2015 - and I have to say that my experience here is exactly as wonderful as my first. I don't live in Roseburg - I use this gym every time I visit my mom though - and so my comparisons originate from my experiences with gyms in the Los Angeles area. Fitness First uses top quality machines, unlike the ones provided by my own gym (LA Fitness), and they are all well maintained, super clean, and given enough space so that the user is not too close to the next gym-goer. I see that there are a few low reviews on this site (mostly involving their prices or one remarking on their lack of child-care), but it's hard to believe those issues would be enough to give a low review for a gym. Have you ever checked the prices at a franchise gym? Ridiculously expensive. What my mom gets for her membership is phenomenal. She's so happy here, and every time I go (two to three times per year) they remember me and treat me like a friend. The yoga and class studio is perhaps my mom's favorite thing to do. The instructors, especially Nancy, have all become close to my mom (who is in her 70s) and I credit their work with keeping her moving and fit. We've also been to the additional annex with the crossfit equipment. So much more impressive than anything I have in LA. Also, I love the warm, friendly vibe. You're not going to get anything like that at a gym run by only by an "office manager" rather than looked after by an owner. Now that I'm home, back in LA, I felt inspired to write this extra review while getting ready to head up to my own gym, where, despite the fact that I go two or three times a week, not a single person knows my name. Most diverse gym in Roseburg. Whether you're into standard lifting, Crossfit, Hyrox, even Pilates they've got equipment for it all. Will continue to have my business as long as I'm in town! read more

Old over used equipment that is outdated. Service is lacking policies are unacceptable and slander the ymca on the wall stay away thier are so many more options to work out in Roseburg that far exceeded the quality at this horrible gym read more

The people a Fitness First are very welcoming and friendly. The Functional Strength, the Hilt Drenched and the Race Rock 'N Ride are my three favorite classes. The instructors Jaime, Jen and Shayla are all totally awesome! they are very knowledgeable and make there classes challenging and fun! When Fawn was there I really liked her classes, especially her Barre Ballet classes. The customer service guy Chris is always helpful and polite. The facility is always clean and well kept up. As far as I am concerned this is the best gym in the state if not the west coast. Top notch well trained friendly staff is there to help whenever needed. Always cheerful and helpful. The best equipment available and plenty of it so you seldom have to wait to use it. 24/7 if you need it. An owner on site that truly cares about his clients. I received a pass for three weeks of free bootcamp. The pass simply states to refer a friend. I went in to sign up as I was in town for 2 weeks and wanted to attend classes with a friend. The customer service lady told me that I could not sign up because I was not a current local resident. The pass did not state there were any restrictions or to ask for further details. She was extremely rude and unhelpful. She didn't offer any alternatives even though they were clearly deceitful in their advertising. I indicated that my friend and her father had been members for a long time and that my friend had been given the pass and told to "bring a friend for free". She was never told there were restrictions. I asked the woman to please have the owner contact me, and all she said was, "I'll tell him you called." And, "Don't come to boot camp because you are not eligible." The owner has never called me. With limited options in Roseburg for working out, I will still never ever go to Fitness First again. They don't understand the importance of customer service, and I will never recommend that place to anybody. Had she been willing to offer me a few classes for free, I would have gladly paid the drop in fee for the rest of my visit. But, she was very rude, uncompromising, and did not attempt to earn my business. They need to explicitly state any rules or restrictions when offering specials in the future. False advertising is wrong and deceitful. read more

Not happy at all with the way that they nickel and dime you! They want you to give them twelve days advance when you drop the account with them. I tried to give them plenty of time by dropping my account on the 17th of the month thinking that I had paid for the month of December. They said that my account ran out on the on the 27 th. IF that not chicken manure. The other gym in town only cost a dollar to join and when I do renue my account its going to be with them. read more

In town on business for the nxt few weeks, I was in search of a good gym. Friendly staff, and great facility that caters to both young and older clients. While many facilities stop their dumbbells between 65-90 lbs, the dumbbells here go up to 150 lbs, so weight is not a problem. read more

In my experience this company values profits over people. I should have checked yelp before signing up cuz it seems I'm not the first one to have this problem. First off I will say that I enjoyed the use of the facility and some of the classes were great but the customer service is extremely lacking. I was in the area for a 3 month internship and knew I wanted to find a good gym for the short time I was there. I came in and was told there was a 3 month membership minimum so I thought it would work out perfect. I was also told it was very easy to cancel membership and I could do it at any time. Turns out the 3 month minimum is 3 months worth of auto pay and they of course don't count the first month you sign so it actually turns into a 4 month commitment. This was very misleading from what I was told by the sales staff and they were completely unwilling to work with me regarding this miscommunication. I also did not receive the complimentary training sessions or a tour through the gym facilities that were supposed to be part of the deal when I signed up. Make sure you take the time to go through every detail in the large amount of paperwork they give you. I'm sure there are probably other gym facilities in the Roseburg area that offer better services and value people over money. read more

They don't have any child watch available and no plan to ever include any. If you want access to their 24 hour gym or boot camp be prepared to pay 2-3 x the memberships. The staff was never friendly in my opinion. It's a very small gym and I wasn't impressed but I was clear their intention was to try to be impressive read more

Watch out for the scummy business practices and terms of service designed around getting your money legall. What I mean by this is they charge fees 2 months after you sign up for "Yearly maintenance" and if you want to stop going to this gym you are required to put 12 days in writing. That way they always get an extra month of money out of you. Either you cancel early and you won't go the rest of the month or you cancel late and they get an extra 30 days on top. They also rush you through the paperwork and fail to highlight this when you fill it out. Hmm wonder why. You can't tell me it takes 12 days to click "cancel" on a subscription service because it doesn't. There are many different ways to do this and actually be customer friendly. This is not customer friendly, I called before about this maintenance charge and all they tell you is, "Its per the terms of service that you signed when you started." Great, love hearing that the paperwork you shoved in front of me with tiny writing has all these clauses to make me pay more than the advertised monthly fee. read more

Who would have guessed, I would have found the best gym I've ever used in Roseburg, Oregon. A fully equipped gym with all of the free weights and hammer strength equipment that you would ever need. But it also has another building packed with any crossfit equipment you could ask for. I was here for 10 days and got a week pass for 30 bucks. Incredible! read more

I love this gym, they have all new equipment and the KEEP IT CLEAN!! I can't stress that enough, nothing makes more happy thank to see employees cleaning the gym throughout the day! They have an Annex there which is great for those "crossfiters" they have strict rules in contract but for good reason! They have an enormous selection of free weights, machines, and cardio equipment. Again love this place never need another gym again. read more

After being very happy with them and having a membership for going on a year, I have ran in to some financial hardships and asked them to to push my billing date from the 13th to the 16th. As today is the third they refuse to do anything for me because this would only be a ten days notice. I understand this, so I asked if I could change my payment form to a different type of payment. The one I have now is on an automatic withdraw, and once again since I have not given a 25 days notice they won't even let me change the card type. The lady was very rude as well. Offered no apologies even to me. I will be requesting a cancellation and never referring anyone here again after referring many people I am very disappointed read more
