Excellent staff and wonderful place for families and the community to get & stay fit;state of the art gym equipment, ecstatic & fun fitness classes & the aquatic center is beautiful and relaxing. The Y works very hard to see everyone is taken care of and happy! Please provide updated customer service training to the front desk men who were there today, Saturday, May 18 at 4:45 p.m. One had a large red beard and one had a full head of hair. They are young and I am a senior citizen, but that does not make it okay to harass me. When I returned my lock and waited for my car keys, I was asked, "How did you manage this?" and the one with the full head of hair held up the lock. I could not see what was wrong with it. I said, "That is your lock, not mine" and both stood there and were chuckling. I asked for my car keys back, which were handed back in a very slow way, unprofessionally, taunting, and humiliating. I do not expect to be harassed on a Saturday when all the regular people are gone. I do not expect to beg for my car keys back in this way. As I walked out the front door, The bearded one said very loudly, "Have a nice day!" this is further humiliation and heckling. I do not expect this sort of treatment from a public, non-profit, community facility. It is not okay for two young men to gang up and bully a senior citizen woman. I do not go to the Y to be the source of entertainment. This needs to stop and be remedied. I don't think these two are fit for their job at the Y. If this is happening to me, who else is this happening to? read more

Some things have changed over time, but this is the place I spent a ton of time in my younger days. Always loved swimming, but took the leap and joined swim team. 2 hour practices daily and a food bill that required a second and third mortgage for my parents (just kidding) .... but you are really hungry after swimming that hard for that long. Weights room with a good combination of free and machine weights. The racquetball courts were another place where it was at. Epic battles (back then you played that you had to win by 2). Also, modifiable courts so that you could play Wallyball - Volleyball on a racquetball court - it's really awesome! The basketball court was serviceable, but we got creative with our games of horse here (think pool and bank shots - not off the back board - I'm leaving it at that). Staff was always friendly and took good care of the guests. read more

It offers a lot of the area, which is nice. I feel it's overpriced for most family activities. Sometimes classes and camps are a bit chaotic. The staff sometimes seems overwhelmed-I know they are doing their best, but they seem stretched a little thin occasionally. Communication is a little choppy when it comes to activities. I'm grateful for the facility overall, but I just wish youth activities ran a little smoother. read more

Unlike most local fitness centers, YMCA has a compliment of activities and family centered events. The YMCA's pools and hot tub are adequate, and the steam room and sauna are nice options available to its members. It's weight room is small, but it is loaded with various equipment. My favorite thing is the racquetball courts. They get busy so be sure to reserve a slot. Basically, this YMCA is a great facility for a smaller town. It offers a plethora of activities for kids and active adults. It supports the community and aims to improve the lives of its members. read more

I love the YMCA! I'm from out of town and decided to utilize our membership in Roseburg. We checked in with a younger gentleman who was very polite and helpful. After checking in and passing through the gate, the older woman at the front desk rudely verified that we had in fact checked in... then asked for WHO exactly checked us in. This YMCA has a new, second pool. There are several doors marked "closed" and signs to redirect swimmers to the pool. When we finally found the pool we walked two steps onto the pool deck to see what the seating situation was. We came with 11 kids and all had beach towels in hand. Our family was met by an older adult life guard who seemed to clearly be overwhelmed. She abrasively met us at the door, corrected our foot wear by saying "there are signs everywhere!" Traveling through a maze of halls with 11 kids I didn't notice any signs about shoes. We asked about where Open Swim was and she told us, with arms wide open, herding us back out the door, that "absolutely NOT" was there open swim at that time. Turns out we missed the 45 minute Open Swim by 2 minutes. Between the rude front desk woman and the hostile adult Life Guard, this was the worst YMCA experience ever. I'm giving two stars because I spoke with a woman in management and she was receptive to the awful experience and seemed to want to fix it. I'm writing this review in hopes that those who have had similar experiences will go and let the Roseburg YMCA staff know. Changes can and should be made. read more

The equipment is new. The facility is clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. The child watch is clean, secure and safe. The classes are awesome. I wish the child watch didn't close at 12:30 - some time in the afternoon because that's when I use it most often. That was a big disappointment but having been members of every other gym in town this one is by far the cleanest, best equipment, best options and best facility.
