I have been going to gyms for 50 years and Fitness Forever is the worst one I have ever been in. They are extremely over priced and they make it very difficult to cancel the membership. Make the trip to Hilo and go to the YMCA or BJ Penn's UFC gym. Don't get ripped off. read more

I love our little gym. The staff is super friendly. The trainers are knowledgeable and encouraging. They have wonderful resources for kupuna. I'm very happy with my membership. I wish they had traditional locker rooms rather than single rooms. It can be a long wait sometimes if you just need to shishi. read more

A really small gym with very few bathrooms considering they have a sauna and steam room. It's pretty expensive for what it is, better than nothing. They staff are very helpful and nice, the machinery is limited, its generally a small space but like I said not many other choices so, grateful to have it. I've been working out at this gym for a year and a half and I have seen a remarkable difference in my appearance and my strength and stability. The staff is all amazing, helpful and encouraging. I worked with Tuck, a personal trainer for many months and the experience was phenomenal. I went from being uncomfortable working out to knowing how to use all of the equipment with good form in very little time. Tuck is very encouraging and motivational. He has an advanced understanding of how muscles function and breaks it down in a way that is easy to follow. I've tried joining gyms many times over my life and never enjoyed them, so I never stuck with it. Now I love the gym, thanks to Tuck and the rest of the crew! read more

After shopping around I have no doubt that Fitness Forever Puna is the best gym on the island. No doubt whatsoever. The gym is supplied with a large variety of state of the art equipment, it's quite clean and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They have several programs included with membership from a Rapid Fit Class, Qigong and my wife is learning and loving Hula. Speaking of the staff I'm working with Steven Tucker [Tuck] one of their trainers whose training background includes football leagues among other venues. His knowledge of fitness, personal coaching and exercise equipment for all ages is extensive. Plus he's fun to work with. Fabulous gym with a great staff! Been a member now for a year, but have only started seriously going about 2 weeks ago. Been going in the evening time around 6:30pm(ish) and the staff have been more than helpful with equipment and supplies. Love the private bathrooms! I requested a tour of Fitness Forever in August 26 and was impressed on the size of the gym, the equipment and different cardio machines. Because of this pandemic I needed to know the protocol on gym usage to clean and disinfect equipment. The one thing that got me was the private individual bathrooms, sauna room and steam bath. No one to help you. no one cleans except customers and that's the ones who feel like doing it. many of the machines with pulleys have issues and don't work properly. lastly for the price it should at least be air conditioned to a comfortable temp. it's too hot in there for many people. think about so hot you can smell the people sweating around you. read more

I'll echo the remarks of another reviewer: clean, friendly staff, and well equipped. Been there since October 2022 and gladly drive 16+ miles each way for the workouts. I'm a few years over 70 with some neurological problems that affect my walking and balance, so this review is also to shine a light on one of their personal trainers, "Tuck" Tucker, who immediately understood my problems and designed a workout strategy tailored to my situation. Over the initial series of sessions I realized significant improvements and will be getting some more assistance from Tuck as I go. I heartily recommend the whole experience! read more

More patrons than floorspace. Employees are like babysitters, running around telling you no. It's your privilege to be there so shut up and fall in line. Cost too much for way too little. They say they want to be there for the kids... but only the wealthy ones. They took my daughters money 3 times in a 2 day period. Well over $300 dollars tied up because they didn't know how. Grrr! My white workout pants are ruined with rusty weight marks :( I was misled by a new shopping center gym location but after moving to Pahoa and going in to the "new" gym I realized that this location has old broken rusty equipment. The gym smells like a dirty laundry basket, I did not get any help from staff even after asking how to use the sauna and I was just made to feel uncomfortable. No love. Just thugs. read more

I am very pleased with my membership at Fitness Forever. Equipments are great and once in awhile I get to catch a yoga or zumba class. Love ending my workout either in the sauna or steam room. Most important it is very clean and staff are helpful and welcoming. I have recommended this gym to family and friends. read more

Fitness Forever Puna is a great gym located in the new Puna Kai shopping complex. Amazing employees and everything you need from free weights to machines. I just wish that they have a stair master. Their sauna and steam rooms are definitely my favorite! They have zumba classes also. Very clean environment and their bathrooms are all individual with showers. I just joined after touring a few months ago and Ive had a very positive experience so far. The staff is very helpful and friendly which I really appreciate - the welcoming vibe is great and the overall gym feels very down to earth. Ive been a member of a lot of elite fitness clubs and gyms all over and in terms of what you get for the price, I feel very satisfied with this gym including great options for time to drop in (whoever commented about bad hours was citing July 4th weekend which is understandably a holiday), more classes being added all the time and whenever I want to use machines they are always open. The steam room is great and the facilities are in tip top/clean shape. I am a huge fan and telling all my friends about it. read more
