Well now, under new ownership (310 fitness) & the seniors that got membership paid by insurance plans is being halted. Senior Health plans won't pay enough on memberships. Can I give 0 stars? Is that allowed? I first started attending this gym in 2020. I needed a pool for physical therapy, and options were slim. The gym had a pool. It was open when I needed. That seemed fine. Well, things got weird in 2020, and that's not the gym's fault, but they handled everything about as poorly as possible. Twice they promised members that they would not be billed while the gym was forced to be closed. Twice, they broke that promise. After the forced closures were past, the gym promptly double-charged everyone. They only issued refunds upon request, and those refunds were for the wrong amount. Annoyed, I still tried to make things work because pool options are so limited. After a few more months, I was done and closed my account. The gym acknowledged that my account was closed and paid in full. They then proceeded to charge me the next month. I explained the situation. They promised a refund. It never came. I canceled the card on file. A month later, they tried to charge me again. Once more, I explained everything to management. They promised that it was all resolved. A month went by. They tried to charge me again. After repeating the whole process two more times, I gave up. Fitness One has attempted to bill me every month for over a year since I canceled by membership. This is not a gym. It's a criminal enterprise. read more

Huge place with an unbelievable assortment of machines, many of which I had never seen before. Very clean. Staff is pleasant and very helpful, especially j Jenna. The patrons, though, are not the friendliest bunch. Very much of a muscle gym in my opinion. You can get a complete work out here in 45 minutes if you just work through the machines and don't dillydally. They keep the sanitary wipe dispensers around the gym filled. New building, nice. Restroom and locker room area are kept clean, even though it gets damp back there because of the steam and sauna. There are a couple of bodybuilders that think that they can hang a towel or a backpack on a machine they are not using but are going to use and keep everybody else off of it, even during peak time. It's a cool gym. But it will always be less than 5 stars until they bring back the towel service. I don't think the owners/managers understand the disadvantage or having to bring and wash your own towel to the gym. If they brought back the towel service, I would pay 5-8 more dollars per month to be a member, and I'm sure the hundreds of other members would agree. It keeps the gym of poor quality to not have a towel service, especially with showers, a pool, a cold plunge, a steam room, and a sauna. I used to love this gym, and especially the Silver Sneakers classes. It had everything: Lots of classes, Nautilus machines, pool, showers. But we've practically stopped going because they flaunt every Covid-19 rule. The employees don't wear masks, and neither do most of the people working out. Price: The membership fees to this gym are through the roof. For two adults both with unlimited tanning before taxes are added the membership is $169 a month! Crunch fitness only charges $19 a month which includes unlimited tanning, and you have unlimited guest privileges at no additional charge. Also when I had family come to visit, I was paying around $15 a day for them to be able to use the facilities as a guest. Equipment: Gym equipment is constantly needing repair. They slap an out of order sign on it, and if you are lucky it will be fixed in a month or so. Before the addition to the gym, the sauna hadn't operated properly for the last year or two. The water from the Fountain has come out luke warm for the last two years. They charge over $40 a month for tanning, but the bulbs are replaced about every year or two, so they are extremely ineffective. Staff: The majority of the staff are rude and not welcoming. They do not care about your opinion or your experience at their gym. Which is further proven by the fact that they hadn't responded to, acknowledged, or try to make right a single bad review on yelp. I once asked the staff if they had ever thought about getting bumper weights for the squat rack, and their reply was "no, those aren't the type of people we want coming here". When asking about adding someone to the account and inquiring about the price increase, I was basically told if I can't afford it, to cancel my membership.. so I did. If customer service is big on your list, this isn't the gym for you. Though, the new bathrooms are wonderful. So if you go to the gym to hang out in the bathroom and are willing to pay an arm and a leg.. then it may be right up your alley. Location: If you live in the Sonoma Ranch area or off of HWY 70, this is pretty much your only option without driving across town. Even though I live less than 2 miles from Fitness one, I drive 15 minutes to Crunch everyday, because it's 100% worth it. If there is ever another large gym opened in the area of fitness one, they would go under without a doubt. Hope this review helps prevent others from wasting their hard earned money. read more

Well, after 13 years of having belonged to Fitness One, I went over there today to restart my membership in the wake of a 3-month-long COVID19 shutdown only to have Tanner Green, the proprietor, tell me I need to find another gym because I complained about them on social media. He's not talking about yelp, mind you--he's talking about comments to fitness one on THEIR facebook page about things that were wrong: broken equipment that they were slow to fix, disgusting locker room conditions at various times, a lack of cleaning products for the gym itself, earsplitting music in the functional fitness area, people coughing all over the place right before the shutdown. All of these are issues that could easily have been resolved had the management had the desire to cater to their paying-through-the-nose clientele, but his response instead was to shoot the messenger. His exact words were that if he made it through the COVID19 shutdown, he was going to make sure I didn't come back. I would say that if you value your health or if you value customer service, this is not the gym for you. read more

The only good thing about this place is its open 24 hours but you wouldn't know that when you sign up. The lady never went over anything with me not even a tour. Been going here almost a year the same equipment has been broken for months. For the amount you pay in membership fees they should be able to afford to fix machine. I wanted to try out the climbing wall as I am an avid indoor rock climber in my home state of MD. I called to find out in advance about the equipment that I would need and whether or not there would be someone there to belay me, I called on the phone in advance of my visit. I asked if it was top rope, sport or both and what the ratings were on the climbs. the girl had no idea of any of the terminology but finally I understood that there is an auto belay device, so I asked if I would get trained on this and she said yes. Today I arrived in the morning and was glad to see that it was not crowded so I assumed this meant I would get trained adequately. When I told the young man at the desk that I would need training he said fine then showed me how to tie in. I asked the specifics of how the device works and he told me how it scared him..the 'drop'. Obviously that concerned me so I asked him to demonstrate and he said he would not do that. Finally I just gave up trying to get a demonstration and proceeded to test out the equipment. I climbed some of the way and then I did as he said and just "let go" at that point I was rudely awakened by the fact that the belay device DID NOT ENGAGE! Fortunately I did not try it from the top. I dont know what I could have done wrong, it seems to be a huge safety issue. Again, no one demonstrated and what I did was climb 1/4 of the way and just jump off as I was instructed, then I landed on the floor. What are these people thinking of having a dangerous piece of equipment that could seriously injure someone and on top of that not provide proper training for the staff on any aspect of climbing, not even the basic vocabulary. jeez read more

employees are super rude. they do not acknowledge you as you walk in. they look you up and down as you walk in in a "judgy way". most of the workers talk and are on their phones the whole time. i feel very unwelcome being there. most machines are always broken and never get fixed. cleaning supplies limited. read more

This is a poor gym and I would not recommend it unless you have no other options. I've been going to Fitness One for about three years and while it started great, the quality of the gym has faced an intense dip at an alarming rate. The only reason I still go myself is because of its convenience: it's right by my house and it is a 24-hour gym; it's the only option for someone like me who works long hours. That being said, even I'm tempted to quit due to the sloppy way the gym is ran. The biggest problem may be the most understandable one: there are just too many people attending Fitness One. As Primetime Fitness recently closed, Fitness One is receiving a huge influx of customers that makes the gym overcrowded. Where even two years ago you could go at any time and have a quick workout, these days you're likely to wait for machines or benches for as long (or longer) than you are lifting. Your best bet is to go after midnight, but even then the gym is often half-full. While this issue is understandable, the lack of compensation from the gym is not. Due to the large amounts of people using the facility, there are often problems with the facility itself (machines becoming out of order, water fountains breaking or having filthy filters, poor internet speed on the wi-fi, etc.) and these are issues that often take days or even weeks to be resolved. This is inexcusable as many of these are simple fixes with low costs (a water filter changes, a second router, or a immediate commission of repairs). If the gym was failing it'd be excusable, but since it is one of the most expensive in town (at about $35 a month) and has plenty of members, there's no reason for it to be so shoddy. Unless you NEED a 24 Gym in the Sonoma/Roadrunner area, I would advise picking another gym. read more

New building, new equipment, all the bells and whistles of a fitness and health club. From a weightlifting point of view (deadlifts, squats, bench, etc.): 1 half rack w/ oly platform, 1 power cage, no bumper plates, 3-4 benches. Small free weight area. Free weight area seem like an afterthought that was crammed into the middle of the gym. Month-to-month membership is a plus though. I prefer free weights and lots of racks/cages/benches vs. things like tanning and juice bars, therefore this gym is not for me. If you use machines and cardio equipment, this gym is for you. If you like tanning, classes (extensive class schedule!), personal training etc, this gym us for you. Disclaimer: I obtained all this information on the tour, but as an avid gym rat, I know a review like this would have helped me pick a gym. I don't particularly like gyms that say "don't drop the weights". This isn't so much of a review but more of a "what is in the gym" to help people narrow down their choices. Again, depends on your goals and knowledge base, but if you don't know what to do, this is a solid, clean, fairly cheap gym. read more

Mediocre gym. Has a ridiculous dress code that is totally inappropriate for a gym. They would harass me about having two inches of exposed midriff. I go to the gym to work out, not to feel like i'm at a middle school adhering to a middle school dress code. For the price, i'd like to be able to wear what I want. Gym itself is ok. Membership is too expensive for the amenities it has. Crunch is only a fraction of the price per month, has better equipment, more amenities and no outrageous dress codes. Just awesome. I just wish it could be in the Valley. However, Las Cruces hardly has ANY pools available to the general public (besides kiddy pools). That is ridiculous considering how hot it is here. A full size salt water pool great for lap swimming AND relaxing. A hot, salt water Jacuzzi for physical therapy relief for those who want to improve their physical and mental well being as they age. THANK-YOU! Wish it was bigger or that there were 2 but not complaining. Fancy, Spa like locker room, steam room and dry heat room. Showers with benches available and handicap bench for inside of shower. Wish the tiles were less slippery! I use to be a member for a couple of years. I cancel my membership due to lack of cleanliness and appearance of mold in the steam sauna. I brought it to the owner's attention and nothing was ever done to correct the problem. Also, the staff and owners are not friendly at all. They do not like to accomadate their members and are very indifferent to any complaints you might have. read more

I was a member for years, but this gym is a disappointment. Unfortunately the owners are very rude to the members. I had a horrible experience at this gym and made me feel horribly. Like I mentioned, I was a member for years, but I travel for work constantly. On November, I called the gym to cancel, because I was not going to the gym anymore, but they told me that I was not able to cancel over the phone. So, since I didn't have an option, I called my bank, so they could stop the automatic payments. Today, I went to open my membership. I asked the lady at the front desk and she said that I had to speak to the owner. He came to talk to me, but he was very upset. He was extremely rude to me and made me feel horribly. He humiliated me in front of others. He said that I basically stole from them. Please don't go to this gym. There's other options. read more

This is a really nice gym. The only problem is it's always too crowded at peak times. I feel like I'm waiting around for my favorite machines and dodging people in some areas. The women's only area needs to be a lot larger. Plus they need more classes and more rooms/options for classes for the evenings. I might return after they build the new addition. read more

I love this gym! You pay on a month to month basis. The staff will always go out of their way to greet you as soon as you walk in the door. The facility is very big with a variety of equipment. Depending on the time, the gym does get very packed and you might have to wait for an open machine. But the cardio machines are always open and so are the free weights. I love that they provide a women's only area located inside the locker room. For me personally, this gym caters to everything I need and more. This is one of the nicest/ best gyms in the Las Cruces area. It is always clean and maintained! They are also adding a basketball court and lap pool soon! read more

Updating my review because what was a wonderful workout experience is now a place I can't even stand to go. The music is turned at full blast. Members are never going to agree as to what is a good playlist but given almost everybody brings their own headphones and they advertise the media experience on the cardio, why would you blast music so loud that its headache inducing and drowns out what's coming to your headphones. I was a member at this gym for over 18 mths (no issues..paid on time ) if not more,...and due to my profession, which requires traveling quite a bit... I eventually requested that I be put on a hold status (no charging) until I return. ( This gym technically does not require a commitment but it might as well be one). I called to explain I would not be back at the time "they" gave me. The person who took the call at that time NEVER advised I needed to email. Nonetheless...they called stating my card was denied (good thing due to exp date) for which I asked why are they charging due to my extension request. Make a long story shorter..lol.. they then advised I needed to send an email for which I did...after "one" additional month they called for which I said I was still out of town (and told them prior I would still be). Rudely they advised that I should just cancel for which I did via email...NEVER telling me of an old bill.. (the one they tried to charge me even though I called with confirming email that I was not back in town) Welp..sighing* When I went in today to try to renew.. they spring up this old bill which I thought was resolved since they never sent a bill or said anything. The fact that they tried to still charge me for a month that was clear and documented I had not returned was poor..but in the manner the OWNER did it! Wow..talking condescending!! He basically told me he didn't have to be politically correct and acted as if I was trying to get over! Tsk!! I mean dude's attitude and demeanor was straight rude and shrewd.. and trust me it is not that serious to be getting over especially when I had paid for over 18 mths with no issues and NEVER checked in once during that month that proves as such!! I truly hate to bring race into but I have had a few of my friends sign up and they have also had issues that made them feel they were not wanted or worthy. Nonetheless...it is a silver lining to this story!! I joined Planet Fitness!! Initially I was skeptical due to the low price but...boy was I amazed and truly impressed with the Las Cruces facility!! I am so glad the owner was such a jerk and a nasty SOB because I never would have known how awesome Planet Fitness is despite the low cost!! And the best thing about it...I also can use it when I travel at other Planet Fitness locations which basically are everywhere!! To be fair...I liked the classes they offered for the price of $35 per month..and the 24 hr access...but the crowding and being on top of each other was a bit too much!! When you work out with equipment like this and compare what you get at either of the planet fitness gyms in las cruces, you understand how planet fitness is able to undercut other gyms with their cheap membership fees--their equipment is garbage in comparison to fitness one. Fitness One is likely the best option in Las Cruces. Although there is no pool, basketball court, or place to do body weight exercises, the equipment is nice and Don at the front desk is super. There is 24 hour access and good parking. The owner appears active in the gym; however, there are supposed to be about 4000 members which is too many for the current square footage. One older blonde female trainer hogs the equipment and goes out of her way to block of critical amounts of space for one or multiple clients at peak times of operation. Management needs to address this and attitude of this employee immediately. Otherwise, check it out. They will be expanding and seem to be interested in running a good facility. read more
