One by one, all 5 of our children passed their road test with confidence. Not a bad thing to say about him, he is incredibly patient, encouraging and adjusts his teaching to match the kids' different personalities and learning styles. Having Joe as my driving instructor made the process significantly less stressful. As an older adult learning to drive, I had concerns. Joe was so patient and kind and he always provided positive reinforcement. As a nurse educator in my professional life, I recognized what a great teacher Joe is. This must be the absolute worst company that offers these services. Our instructor has ALWAYS been late, and have ALWAYS called, and the company has NEVER done anything about it. While quick to take payment in full up front, they offer zero solutions or repercussions for an instructor who is late, doesn't call, or basically misses appointments. While this has been going on during the entire engagement with them, I guess the straw that broke the back was TODAY - the DAY OF MY DAUGHTER'S DRIVIING TEST, and they are LATE AGAIN. Really great job instilling additional anxiety in my child the day of the test - pretty much the EXACT OPPOSITE of what you're supposed to be doing. jack is the worst driving instructor ever. he was telling me I look ridiculous while overly using my head to check the mirrors. meanwhile that was the only reason I failed my test. he was yelling at me while I was driving and taking phone calls during my lesson. I took my 6 driving lessons at Fitzgerald Driving School. The staff are always professional, courteous and friendly. I had David as my instructor. He was excellent, knowledgeable, experienced, and David teach me everything perfectly and passed my road test on the first try. I have tried two other driving schools in my lifetime (Precision Driving School in Brentwood, Marsal Driving School in West Babylon), my experiences at both were so bad that I completely put off getting my license for about 5-6 years. I was a very anxious new driver and needed an instructor who was patient. Howie was the name of my instructor. He was extremely patient and encouraging, truly an exceptional teacher. After several sessions with him, I signed up for the road test through the school and passed on my first try. Something I really had never dreamed of accomplishing. I fully attribute finally having my license to Howie and Fitzgerald. If you are an anxious or nervous driver and feel like you'll never get your license, or feel like there are no instructors who will be patient enough, try Fitzgerald and ask for Howie. I had to take the lame 5 hour pre-licensing course, and this happened to have some of the more convenient times (Wednesday 430-930) and was close(ish) to home. Now, I don't think you can spice up the course...it's boring. NYS is insane, and you should have to take the course BEFORE you get your permit, but I digress. Aleyshia Taylor, the instructor, had great little anecdotes about the material. But basically you sit there for 5 boring hours going through the information that is contained in the manual for $55. The videos shown are from the early 80's. I mean, CARLY SIMON was in the video. I don't even think the younguns in the room had any idea who she is! Again, this is the only course I've taken, but if Fitz wants to be hip, he best look for some more recent videos, or NYS needs to get on their shiznit. Their pricing for courses looks on par with every other driving school, but if I head back for lessons, I'll be sure to update this review. read more

They were wonderful, they offer many convenient lesson times, they offer the five hour course, they offer the chance to take the road test in their driving vehicle. The instructor who worked with me was very nice and very honest. Bruce recently got our daughter ready for her road test. We hired him for a 6 lesson package and our schedule was crazy at the time. Bruce was patient and accommodating and our daughter confidently passed her road test. We used Fitzgerald for our older daughter....another success! We would never use another place! I took several lessons here, which I paid way too much for. The driving instructor I had, Joe La Rocco, was an absolute asshole. I have no better way of putting in. Every time I made a mistake during a lesson, he would scream and sometimes curse at me, and wouldn't tell me how to correct hos mistake. I took a road test and failed(My fault) with him. Once I explained my mistake to him, he started chewing me out. He proceeded to insult me the entire ride back to my house, which was about 20 minutes, and was rude to me after that. Joe La Rocco is not fit to be a driving instructor, especially with his short temper. Definitely try to stay away from Joe. I took a road test with another instructor, Pat. Pat was an absolute angel. He explained things to me, told me what I did wrong, and was extremely polite. read more

My daughter came here for two 45 minute lessons and to use their car for the road test. The total cost I paid in advance in July 2018 was $245. That's a little expensive for 2 lessons and the use of the schools vehicle. A typical 45 minute lesson should be around 50 to 60 bucks tops. This school is not organized at all. I had to call way too many times to find out about the correct time of my daughter's lesson, when were her lessons, why the times were changing for her scheduled lessons, what time and day her road test was because there were errors with that. They never called to confirm her road test information the night before so we had to cross our fingers and hope that September 11 was the correct day, but the time was still messed up on the instructor's end no fault of the instructor... My daughter's driver Jack was pretty good. Two lessons with him (and a few with us) and my 17 year old passed her road test on the first try. Four stars for Jack, but two for this school. I'm sorry, but I can't recommend this school to any parent for their child look ELSEWHERE please! read more

He took it in Brentwood and the one tricky part (bearing right at a divider) about the test the instructor forgot to tell him about and he failed. I paid for and instructor so this would not happen. Really nice receptionists and instructors, but my child failed the road test twice after taking lessons with them. The first time was the full course including the requisite classroom time. Failed the road test. Second time was a mini package of 3 lessons and the road test. Failed again. I can't necessarily say that it was the school's fault, but I do want to point out that the second instructor said that everything the first instructor taught was wrong, which left me with a confused kid about which was the correct way to do things. Regardless, I would still recommend Fitzgerald's but I think their instructors should all be on the same page regarding technique. I spent almost $900 in total. read more

My little Brother took 6 driving lessons with Gary at Fitzgerald driving school and when the time came to take the road test...he ended up FAILING the exam. Gary told my brother that he was ready and that everything he was doing was correct. Clearly...he lied. The car was absolutely FILTHY as well. For these expensive classes I would expect nothing but the best for the students. After my brother returned to the car with a failing receipt from his road test, he asked Gary to explain exactly what he did wrong (bc there were nothing but scribbles on the receipt). Gary gave him a few dry words and my brother gave up on trying to get him to explain to him what he did wrong so that way he wouldn't make the same mistakes the next time. Fitzgerald, please take everything I just said into consideration. The students deserve better. This is a big and important step when it comes to entering adulthood. read more

Absolutely rude and unprofessional . We were not more than 5 minutes late for the 5 hour class on Wednesdays. Got there at 4:35 instead of 4:30 and they would not let us sit for the class. The frustrated with her depressed life hag teaching the class waved her hand and said NO YOUR LATE I PUT THE MONEY BOX AWAY.worst attitude. Took the 5 hrs class on a Saturday w/ a tall, white haired man. It was BORING, BORING BORING. And after his long, monotone lecture, we had to take a test! WTF??? None of my friends ever took a test at other driving schools. And really stupid questions too. I think the test was just his way of killing time w/out lecturing. After it was all over we had to fill out a feedback sheet. And although the class was BRUTALLY boring, I lied & wrote it was great b/c the guy hinted he expected a good review & I didn't want any sh*t from him. I heard the Wednesday class w/ the woman was much better. So you might try Wednesdays but the Saturday classes are definitely bullsh*t. read more
