It was packed but the man working the front desk kept his cool. We would have liked to see somone spray the counter down but masks and hand sanitizer were readily available. Didn't wait too long before a nurse (or maybe student) took me back- super sweet, professional and caring. The physician who treated me- was the same. They were busy but he took time to answer all my questions. I felt confident in his analysis and reccomendations. I picked the Doral location because it's close to work. Having recently started at a new position and being in my probationary period, I had to deal with a super basic insurance before my employer's policy kicks in. Karla, the office manager, was really helpful in calling and dealing with the company thus saving me that "headache". After previous home & alternative remedies weren't working, I called this office. It's located in a Doral office building and next to another orthopedic practice. From what I understand, the other office is OrthoNow's "home base" where I would go if my condition doesn't ger better. It's also where OrthoNow does their imaging. When I visited, Melissa who does double duty as an xray tech & medical assistant, took my vitals and took me downstairs for xrays. After the x-rays, I was checked out by William the nurse practitioner, who reviewed and said that basically I have tennis elbow, so I have to take it easy for at least a little bit on the weights.

This situation started because my medication refills were not handled properly. Instead of Sanitas taking responsibility and helping resolve the issue, I have been the one forced to deal with the consequences. To make matters worse, the office where I was seeing my doctor was closed, and my doctor was moved to a location that is extremely inconvenient for me. Now, when I need assistance with medication that I am already prescribed, Sanitas apparently cannot simply communicate with my actual provider to resolve the issue. Instead, I am being forced to schedule a video visit with another provider just so I can get my medication handled and then I am CHARGED for that video visit. How is that acceptable? I did not request a new provider. I did not create the refill problem. I did not choose to have my doctor's office closed or my doctor relocated. Yet I am expected to pay for an additional appointment because Sanitas cannot properly coordinate with my existing provider? What bothers me most is the complete lack of understanding or concern. There seems to be absolutely no consideration for the inconvenience this creates for the patient. The attitude essentially feels like: schedule the appointment, pay for it, or you don't get your medication. Patients should not have to pay for additional appointments simply to correct administrative and communication problems they did not create. This has been an incredibly frustrating experience and has seriously changed the way I view Sanitas Medical Center and the level of care they provide. Healthcare should be about helping patients not creating unnecessary obstacles and then charging the patient to get around them.

I've taken my family to doctor appointments, post-op appointments, urgent care & more recently to a COVID vaccination appointment. They actually called my mom to see if she wanted the vaccine. They made it so simple. Everything about this place is made simple. If you don't have a ride to a doctor or lab appointment, they'll pick you up & drop you off at home. If your doctor prescribes meds, you can stay & wait to get it from their on-site pharmacy or let them drop it off at your house. If you have multiple appointments that require you to be there for a while & get hungry, they have snacks (Cuban pastries & small sandwiches) & even coffee (Cuban & American, including decaf). There are healthy snacks offered upstairs during normal times in the recreational/fitness area. During normal times, there are fitness classes which are specially-geared toward helping maintain independence & mobility. The weight-training area is by appointment because they assign a professional to each person so that you don't hurt yourself. There are also various types of recreational activities offered (board games, parties, and entertainment). FYI the doctors here are also available on regular insurance plans & often have their own separate office/practice. It's not just physicians that only work here. If you have a specific doctor/specialist that you want to keep, Leon probably works with them! I'm nowhere near a senior, but when I am, I will definitely sign up with Leon. They have been amazing with my family & with me. The other attendant then made a comment to her along the lines of, "What's the point of me sitting here?" and they laughed. Since I had walked in speaking Spanish, it honestly felt like they assumed I didn't understand English, and that feels a little condescending. I understand that the front desk can be busy, but sometimes people walking into these places are nervous and trying to get their paperwork, ID, pass, or belongings together. I simply didn't notice that she was occupied at first. And we shouldn't be assuming that people don't speak certain languages in a multi cultural city like Miami.
