I like this five below! They seem to have a decent stock of items as well as well organized every time I go. I mostly go to five below for snacks, blind boxes and other random items here or there. While the name implies everything is $5 and below, they not have items over $5. The quality is between dollar store and department store (like target/walmart). I have passed by countless Five Below stores, but never ventured in. I'm not sure why. Maybe it was the name. Five below what? If you don't give me a unit or something that qualifies the entire meaning of your brand, I won't get it. This Five Below is a five-minute drive from the hotel. I decided to check it out. There is a lot of parking in front of this store. It's next to Ulta Beauty. I backed my car into a spot with flurries happening and walked in. It occurred to me that it's like an upscale dollar store, except that most items are $5 or less. There are exceptions, though. You can get a record player (some don't get record, but understand vinyl) for under twenty dollars, for instance. The best find was seeing Squishmallows plushies going for $5 each. OMG! So cheap. So cute! I picked up a penguin and a koala. I saw Squishmallows as headphones. They looked cool, but it made me wonder how on Earth you clean them when they get dirty. If you like candy, there's a sugar rush section. Highly deadly. I loved seeing pizza candy and M&M's. There is a lot to look at in this store. You can get graphic t-shirts for $5 each. The Play-Doh Fun Factory reminded me of the Play-Doh Fuzzy Pumper Barber Shop that I had as a kid. You basically create hair or fur for your characters with the Play-Doh, and you can style it. It brought back fond memories. And, no, I did not get the Fun Factory! I saw Ice Cubes gum and got a container of raspberry sorbet. I love this gum so much. I would have rated this place higher until I went to pay for my items. There were two females staring at their phones and chatting. One of them eventually helped cash me out. I had placed my mittens and phone on the lower right corner of a rather large counter. She placed my two Squishmallows and gum in a bag. She pushed the bag all the way forward such that my phone dropped onto the floor. I was not impressed. I made it clear to her that she had pushed my phone onto the floor. Had I had not explicitly let her know, she wouldn't have known. First, the counter had a lot of space. Why push the bag like that? Leave it in the middle of the counter or something. Second, I am not an American with a phone from a US carrier. Had my phone died from this fall, I'd have to get a new one. Expensive and complicated. Thankfully, my phone still worked. Her ridiculous action would have been the equivalent of my pushing the payment kiosk towards her and having it land on the floor. It was such a weird, unexpected action on her part. I'd return again because the merchandise is cool. If you put stuff on the counter, don't. You are at risk of having a careless staff member push your belongings onto the floor for no sound reason other than carelessness and stupidity. (14) read more

Fun shop, a bit of everything here. Lots to look at. Candy section was pretty fun. Kids would have a hay-day in here! Everything is $5 and under. Picked up a colorful basketball for $5, 2 nail polishes for $3 (I think) really fun colors! A kimono for $5, cute but cheap :) There is gym equipment, home decor, toys, makeup, movies, games, books, food, shoes and SO much more. This would be a great store for stocking stuffers! read more

This is the second time I've shopped here and will continue. I was greeted with a "Hi" from pretty much all the staff. Everything here is $5 or less. Think of it as an upscale dollar store. They have cheap cosmetics, bath bombs, phone chargers, headphones, books, toys, hair accessories and more. They have a great selection of candy. Some are 10 cents each and my favorite gummies. They have gummy bears, smurfs, alphabet, snakes and are 5 for $5 or regular price when you buy less. There aren't many Five Below Stores around but one is sure to find something. Oh I almost forgot, personalized key chains with a caribiner for $2.00. If you want to kill some time, there are a lot of food options also in this area. read more

I'm giving this store two stars and not one because I believe it has the potential to be great again. I know this store has only been around for a matter of a few months but it went from being great to awful very quickly! Let me explain. It went from being my family's favorite store to me only going if my son would beg for me to take him. The first time I went to this store (or any five below) was back in Easter when one of my girlfriends told me about it when we were talking about what we were going to put in our kids Easter baskets. She, like me is a young single mom with student loans, so the idea of everything being under five dollars was amazing to me! My son, who's 4 is also allergic to most candy so that can really be a bummer for him during each holiday. When I first walked into five below my first impression was "Wow" this store was freaking cool! It was brightly lit with fun music playing and very colorful! The mom in me was happy to see that it was very clean and organized. But the kid in me wanted to play with everything in the store even though I'm a grown women. Lol. When we walked in we were greeted by a few of the employees which was refreshing, some stores the employees can hardly converse long enough to give you your total at check out (but I also get it, we all have bad days, I used to work retail back when I was younger too). As I was looking around I was approached by an employee, I didn't see a name tag. But he was a bigger guy with brown wavy hair probably in his early 20's? (Sorry I normally try to check name tags so I can give credit to good employees but I don't think they have name tags or I just missed it) Anyways, he asked if I needed help with anything and I told him the situation with my son and the no Candy problem. He was so helpful! I swear he knew that store in and out! He helped me pick out the whole basket, even going in the back to grab things that were in the stock room. He helped me until the Easter basket completely done and it was perfect! He was quite the character lol! I also was help by a very kind young Asian girl. Five below has so many awesome things that are great for kids and it doesn't give me that uneasy feeling I get when buying toys from a 99 cent store. I went and checked out and the staff upfront were just as nice! Very upbeat and quick! The cashier was probably in her late 20s with glasses and auburn hair and was very sweet. (I just want to mention that I wrote all the descriptions of the staff in my phone right after it happened because it was just such a great experience!) That's one thing I noticed all the employees seemed to be so nice and looked like they all really enjoyed their jobs which is always nice to see! After my first trip to five below I started going back once or twice a week up but it got to a point where it just wasn't worth it. In the beginning the store was always clean and organized and but as of recently every time I go there is pieces of trash all over the floor and blue rolling carts everywhere. It even got to a point where I could barely move my cart so I just walked out. The store used to be a fun place to go but is now a stressful experience every time. Maybe I have clouded judgement because my first couple trips were so great? I don't know. The turning point for the store in my personal opinion was an encounter my brother had with one of the employees. My son, my brother, and I all went to go get some stuff for the pool because the pool in our building had just opened and we wanted to go swimming. This was my brother's first time in the store. He's a smoker and yes I have tried to get him to stop but his lighter died and needed a new one. He asked a middle aged blonde curly haired woman if they had lighters. She proceeded to answer a simple question with a long condescending answer. Something along the lines of "no, no we don't. We don't sell lighters. No. This is a kids store. Why would we sell lighters. Nope. No we don't. We wont ever sell lighters". Really? You could have just said no. (I wrote down what she looked like because I was so shocked by the way she responded. I was going to call the manager and complain but it just wasn't worth it because I assumed it would only be a matter of time before her attitude got her fired on her own) We ended up just getting some pool floats and got the heck out of there. That trip lefts very bad taste in my mouth. Needless to say I've been going back less and less. Again, I only go if my son continuously begs to. I also wanted to point out that I also haven't been seeing some of the same regular up-beat employees that were there when I first started going? I don't know if they no longer work there or if maybe I just have bad timing? Checkout also seems to be more of a hassle each time. Either way I continue to avoid the store.
