For some reason, I always thought Five Below was a restaurant!! I'd never been to one until now - didn't know of one convenient to me. Everything in this store is priced between $1 - $5. It's like if Big Lots, Toys R Us and 99Cent Store merged into one. There's everything you need here - makeup, greeting cards, toys, seasonal products, pet supplies, bedding, electronic accessories, candy & snacks. I'm sure there are more that I didn't list. The store isn't that big but they really pack it in. Aisles were wide & accessible, products were easy to reach. I deducted 1 star because it's hard to see where each "department" was - it would be nice if there's a sign above each area that said "Pets" or "Toys" but I guess this forces shoppers to have to browse each area & aisle for more sales. Let me start by saying the staff is very nice here! The person working was helpful, greeted us upon entering and leaving - very kind human. Another positive is the store is well organized and clean, which I think also reflects on the great staff here. However, I haven't been to Five Below in years and goodness has it changed! It surely can't be called Five Below anymore - hardly anything is $5 or less! Some books are $5 and then it's pretty hard to find $5 items. Seriously everything is so expensive here now! I was shocked to see so many $25 and $35 items! I'm like...what in the world is this? It's basically just like a Bed Bath & Beyond now. Plus, at least half of the items are not even priced! We had to take 5 items up to check prices I was interested in and then to learn the tiny items were $10 and $15 - bizzare. There were tons of items I thought were cool, but without prices I didn't want to keep bothering the store people so just passed on them. I just am not vibing with Five Below anymore! There are no deals or bargains to be had. I ended up buying a small travel game for $6, a hat for $5 and chalk - one of the very few items I could find under $5 in the store. I was looking at Kpop Demon Hunters items here and they had posters for $25! I literally went to Dollar Tree right after and found the exact same poster for $5~ yikes! It's so weird because the bag they put everything in at checkout, still says Five Below - everything $1-$5 and that is no longer the case. I was in the need of buying home slippers for inside as well as to wear outside. So,I decided to give this Five Bellow a try and went there yesterday. First and foremost let me start my review by saying that this is a cool/FUN, store with lots of stuff to buy that is really not $5 and below. A lot of things were $5 and avove. Store is nice, clean, well organized, big, bright, and somewhat had good customer service. Carol being one of the ONLY employee in the store couldn't leave the checkout counter to come and help me find the slippers that I was looking for in my size. I wear size 6 and everything that they had was size 7 & up. I don't understand how they could leave this nice, sweet, kind employee Carol that so wanted to help me and actually did.... to some extent; by pointing out the direction where the slippers were. Manager was on break and that was all. No other employee in this BIG store with so much stuff to purchase. They have items/products from A to Z. I am going to mention more than few: Pet supplies, personal stuff, books, home decor, Holiday decorations(since it's time for the holidays) stationary, clothes, handbags, beauty items, knick-knacks, food, lots of cookies and candy. We all love those unhealthy stuff:-). signs for homes, bumper stickers for cars, and a lot more merchandise to choose from. Honestly a very nice store. I was so hoping to buy a nice, new pair of slippers, but they didn't have my size or color that I was aiming for:-(( still bought one pair one size bigger. For me, it's hard to let go of my belongings until it's to the last drop, to the last rip, to the last bone, and my slippers lived a long, healthy, happy life:-)) If they had my size/color, and one or two employees to help, I would have given this 5 bellow star a castle on the hill with 5 bedrooms and 5 bath!! Five below is the way to go! This location is inside the NoHo West shopping center directly next to Daiso and the main parking structure for NoHo West. They have a cool layout that's on par with other Five Below locations. I'm a big fan of this store, especially around birthdays and holidays, because you find some truly amazing bargains like the bluetooth speaker I got my oldest nephew, board games, home good, home decor, personal care items, electronics, caps, shirts, office supplies, pet supplies, snacks, beverages, posters and more. All at a great bargain of... Five or Below... Get it? The last section toward the back of the store is always the more than five section, however still incredible deals ranging from seven to thirty depending on the items. My friend Ryan had never been inside a location when we stopped in so he couldn't believe all the cool dog beds and toys they had for his pet kids. They're open all seven days of the week with good customer service. It's pretty much self check out when you're ready - Five Below staff is there to assist or guide you if needed. I used to love it here but they have a new policy of SCREAMING at the top of their lungs: "WELCOME TO FIVE BELOW!" It was utterly jarring and immediately soured my mood. They then proceeded to scream it at every single person who entered the store, and I could hear it from everywhere I was in the store, giving me a jump scare each time. I understand why. They are letting thieves know that they have eyes on them to try to deter them. I get it. But my nerves can't take the screaming. I suppose I will try again and hope they don't think I was a potential deterred thief when I turn around and walk out if I am shouted at again. read more

I had been to one of Five Below stores in the west side of the San Fernando valley; I like to compare it to a scale, Asian discount store! Today I went on their website and found the exact same Moshi that I usually buy it Amazon for $6.50 a box for only $2.50 a box I ordered 14 boxes : five in Ube flavor 4 in green tea flavor and 4 in milk tea flavor! I really like the Ube flavor the most but it seems like they are limiting you to five boxes per order ! Their shipping is $7.95 regardless of the amount you spend It takes about 7 to 10 business days to receive the merchandise which is fine I really like that store read more

I stopped by this Five Below yesterday while exploring Noho West plaza. My sisters love this store so I figure I would go inside to see what they have during the holiday season. This store is pretty big inside and organized just right where everything you need is toward the front. They have great prices on candy here so this should be the place to go before the watching a movie. They have other things as well like I saw a claw machine that isn't five or below but it's still a decent price. They have some self checkout station here to help speed things up. read more

Many of us are reeling from the recent demise and abdication of the 99 Cents stores in the Western United States (even though it wasn't 99 cents anymore and has really fallen off the ball the last couple of years). For Los Angeles residents, with its cost of living, utilities, gas, etc; being more than DOUBLE that of every single other state in the nation - the 99 Cents Store were a bit of a life line for certain goods (Editor's Note - which is me as the editor, haha: there are talks of investors taking over and rebranding the 99 stores, stay tuned!). As those of us struggling with this inflation seek out other discount stores; we are lucky to have some options. Enter: Five Below. Normally, I would not review a chain establishment but Five Below stores aren't as common in LA and this particular location is a new addition. Plus, it seems critical in the state of today's economy. North Hollywood's recently opened Five Below can be found in the live/play/shop compound Noho West located near the Laurel Canyon/Oxnard intersection. Nestled among Nordstrom Rack, Starbucks, Regal Cinemas, Ulta, Trader Joes and several eateries; Five Below doesn't necessarily seem like the appropriate shopping marketing mix but then again it is North Hollywood and we are poor here! Parking isn't an issue at Noho West: there are plenty of free garage lot spaces available or actual parking lots. Whichever tickles your fancy! Having never been inside a Five Below, I expected an equivalent of Dollar Tree but was pleasantly surprised when I walked into a spacious, clean, bright real estate and was immediately welcomed by staff at the front door. I was overjoyed at some of the offerings: Five Below has snacks (although not enough food, there should be more), name brand toys and board games, art supplies, home décor, some clothing, fitness equipment such as dumbbells and kettlebells, electronic accessories, pet toys, beauty products, name-brand makeup such as Cover Girl and Rimmel for approximately $1-$2 less than even Walmart sells them for which is the cheapest store for makeup, party décor and greeting cards (American Greetings brand for $1) and the list goes on. There was even a section with incense, crystals and sage! Yes, some of these were cheap and the same brands you would find at the soon to be defunct 99 and also at Dollar Tree; but many were name brands or brands that are a few levels up from the usual dollar stores. Overall, Five Below is pretty great. However, there are some cons which keep Five Below from being perfect. First, Five Below doesn't accept EBT for the snack items which is a huge discrimination towards those low-income individuals dependent on EBT for food. This is a discount store so obviously where that demo would like to shop and thus EBT is a must. Major strike! Second Five Below doesn't carry the same portfolio as dollar stores.  If you are seeking such items as cleaning supplies, dry goods like napkins or tissues, batteries, feminine sanitary items, etc; you won't find them here. Five Below could boost revenue greatly selling such items. Third, there are no human cashiers and only self scanners although there was an associate standing up front and helping those on the kiosks. I'm not really a fan of this new retail trend. I'm not being paid to ring up items.   Another negative is that Five Below is NOT just below five bucks. There are items above the $5-threshold. I am aware that all dollar stores raised their prices and it doesn't reflect their store names anymore; but it still stinks! Interestingly, there is something about Five Below that feels like those beach-side tourist shops but not in a cheesy way but rather a chill place to browse tons of fun products. Despite some of the imperfections at Five Below; it is still a solid discount store and honestly just fun to look around inside if you're at Noho West! Will it make it in this current economic landscape? We shall see but hopefully so as Five Below is a positive addition to North Hollywood. read more

I'm still trying to figure out if I like Five Below or not. I hav been to the Porter Ranch location once a few years ago and didn't like it much. But when this Noho West location opened I stopped by twice already. They have really cute things for the house, garden, personal care products, kids stuff and much more. I liked their book section and the stationary items. Really cute things. This location is fully stocked and organized. Customer service is ok. The prices are good overall. read more

I just had a really uncomfortable experience at this location in Noho West. I come here all the time and it's usually a very normal standard experience. **mentioning race for context as I'm not sure if I was being profiled or he was trying to be helpful** I'm Black. 2 Self-Checkout registers were in use by Hispanic people and the rest were closed. I had 3 small items and was waiting in line. Those customers were scanning their items themselves. A Hispanic employee came over & opened a Self-Checkout register for me. There was no one else in line. He picked up my basket & started scanning my items. He asked, "Do you want a bag?" I said "Uhh..." in confusion. He cut me off & said "You don't have to pay for it (bag)." I asked, "Do you usually scan the items for people? You weren't scanning there's." He said "It doesn't really matter." Is this a normal standard for them? Then he left to the other customers. I checked out, printed my receipt. He then turned around and stared at my receipt. It was just a weird exchange. I'm now concerned that I'd be profiled when entering. read more

I asked 5 women to please help me find an electronics product and they all said they could NOT help me distinguish between an apple/ android distinction...very concerning attitude towards other human beings happening at this establishment. Great store overall. Brand new store so not much to complain about. This was my 4th visit: Came after the gym just to get decor and tools for my home. Had great "me time" browsing through the store. Finally opted for 4 things. As I was checking out, I loaded up my stuff onto the counter. Rudy, the manager, was ringing me up and loading up my stuff into a reusable bag. This is the dialogue that occurred: "oh I don't need a reusable bag" "Are you sure? They fit more" (they don't) "No it's okay I don't need one" "Are you sure they're only 25 cents" "No thank you. It's okay" "They do fit more" "No I'd like just a plastic one" As I was politely declining, he was trying to persuade me and giving me an attitude that seemed to grow each time I said no. First off, I don't need to explain why I didn't need one but I will now. I am super green. I do use reusable bags. I like these thin bag to used for cat litter at home, so I repurpose them. Secondly, I have a closet full of reusable bag that I use daily but if I'm going to Five Below, I'm going to opt for the thin bags that most stores don't have to use for cat litter. After the dialogue above he whispers under his breath "The other ones are 10 cents." I get 10 cents for the bags they give in Ralphs that are thick, but at this point I was too fed up to question. Rudy has such a pushy attitude that makes me feel like he accidentally ordered an overstock of those reusable bags and he's just trying to fix his mistake. I got one plastic bag. One. They're supposed to be 5 cents. He charged me for two. Really inappropriate behavior. The other employees, they're really awesome and helpful!
