When the roof they installed started to leak-we called for repair. It's still leaking and we will have to pay another company to repair it. Extremely Disappointed - Ongoing Roof Leaks After $80,000 Replacement Back in October 2023, I hired FIVE-Star Roofing to replace the entire roof on my business property, E & E Angel's Child Care Center in Ohio. Since then, it has been nothing but a nightmare. Despite paying over $80,000 for a full roof replacement, the roof is still leaking to this day, damaging my materials and equipment. Worse, these ongoing leaks have prevented me from obtaining an occupancy permit, which means I cannot operate my business and am still paying $7,500 a month in rent for a space I cannot use. FIVE-Star Roofing has sent out three different crews on three different occasions to try and fix the issue, and each time, the leak returns. When I reach out for help, I'm told they're waiting for the owner to "schedule me when they're in the area." That excuse has now dragged on for over four months. This company's lack of urgency and accountability has cost me money, time, and extreme stress. It's unacceptable for a business--especially one in the roofing industry, where structural integrity is critical--to be this unresponsive and indifferent to their customers' well-being and financial investment. Man it takes an absurd amount of arrogance from others to get me to the point of writing a poor review but here we are. Our interactions with 5 star roofing began with them offering a free estimate on replacing the roof for the commercial building we rent. The roof needed done, the landlord was taking bids at the time, and so we agreed to allow them to come out. They came out, gave the landlord the price and went on their way. The landlord did not accept their bid, and went with someone else. At least twice a month we get a call from someone with5 star roofing wanting to know if they can come work on our roof. We have told them time and time again the landlord said no. We have blocked so many numbers, and they just keep calling from other numbers. We have called into the office and asked them to remove our number from their follow up list. Today though topped their interactions. Today they called from the following name/number on the ID 765-717-7858 V Faletogo. The man asked to speak with my husband, and I informed him that he was unavailable and asked how I can help. He said he was with 5 star roofing and I informed him that the landlord was not interested and again stated to please stop calling our business line. Then he proceeded to tell me I don't know sh*t about anything, that I'm not in charge of sh*t because we don't own the building and I just need to give him the landlords number if we want him to stop calling us. I was blown away at his lack of professionalism and his complete lack of respect. As far as their work goes I have no idea if they do great work, but we have learned unless you are for sure going to use this company for your roofing needs, DO NOT allow them to give you a "free estimate." It will absolutely cost you a ridiculous amount of time on calls that tie up for your business line. HOPEFULLY this will get their attention enough to leave us alone. read more

They came and sprayed my roof getting overspray on cars across the street from the building. Called and notified them that Monday . They said they would fix which they did not. This is a very poor company to do business with. We have sense taken them to small claims court with us winning a judgement I would check out a different company for any repairs. Initially, I left a positive 5 star review, however, after failed/faulty work and lack of resolution, I have since filed a BBB complain and updated the review to other unsuspecting non-profit organizations like us. We had our roof replaced on March 11, 2020. We paid promptly and the work was completed promplty. We had repair crews in over the summer to fix plaster and wall defects from the roof damage. In the fall, we were contacted by the contractors that were doing the wall and plaster repair and it was pointed out that five star roofing systems failed to unclog a drain pipe during their roof replacement which led to backed-up water and more roof damage followed by more plaster and wall damage. I contacted their warranty department and that is the start of my problem. Communication was unprofessional with her from day one. When I contacted them on 11/6 to execute the warranty. I specified that we had to close due to the roof leak that they failed to repair earlier in the year. The water lead damaged the roof yet again as well as created potential for black mold which is a serious health concern. We have been shutdown since 11/2 waiting for the repairs to continue. Our plaster/wall contractors are unable to proceed until five star roofing systems honors their warranty. I spoke with Linda and told her that we are only only 3 days a week and that I need at least a days notice since the only employee has to drive 40 minutes to get to the location. Linda and five star roofing systems stood me up 4 separate occasions. We are trying to run a business and they refuse to communicate with us, to schedule a time for repair and honor that and far too much time has passed to fix something that we were diligent about paying for immediately back in March. Every time I call to resolve the matter, the only person I have been able to talk to was NOT able to help me resolve matters. I tried to make communication and was stood up every time during the following dates: 11/20 12/4 12/7 12/8 12/9 12/21 12/22 I would definitely not work with this company if I had to do it over again. Fair warning to everyone else. I feel so powerless to get things resolved. Horrible customer service in the warranty department. Employees were sighing and acted like they were annoyed that I continued to call with no resolution. Not sure how they are still in business. read more

If I can put zero stars I would. I do not even know where to start. Back in 2015 they have worked on my roof and I thought they are trustworthy people to deal with. Spent over $15k on our metal roof and supposed to have 15 year warranty. Ever since they have worked on my roof- it leaked. It even got to the point that my insulation and drop ceilings have to be replaced EACH TIME IT RAINS! The past 3 weeks I called and emailed for them to take action and none was done. The beginning someone came over and took a look at it and just told me to basically F*** off and just claim it on my insurance (quoting him)- I had to ask him to leave my property as I will not be disrespected like that. Customer service is awful!!! Please beware of this company. Money hungry to say the least. I paid $20000 for a roof and one year later im having problems. They charged my a $300 travel fee without my knowledge or prior proper explanation. When I spoke with them about it they had absolutely no compassion and expected me to know "what a roofer does", then they stopped responding to my emails, lol what a joke. Absolutely horrible customer service. We paid for a 20 year warranty and suffered major water leaking in less than 5 years. It took months and many cancelled appointments to get someone out to look at it. They sprayed a sealant on a seam and charged $750 in labor to do it. It continued to leak afterwards. We called back several times only to be told they couldn't schedule anyone to come look at it because all of their technicians had COVID. We've heard the same excuse for 3 months. They told us if anyone else repaired the roof it would negate our warranty. We have now had to have a restoration team come in to get rid of mold and lost thousands in property due to the damage. We will be filing a law suit. Do not believe their claims. They are not helpful, friendly and they do shoddy work. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Would give zero stars but not an option. read more

Got an estimate from these people and a couple days later had an emergency come up and had to replace entire septic system. I politely told them that we would have to wait till next year to have the funding. Joe then proceeded to call me at least once per week asking me to let them start the roof. I again asked them, multiple times, to stop calling until next year. they waited about 10 minutes and called me back again. It was by far the highest estimate i got and then they continue to harass my business. I would not recommend anyone even getting an estimate. This company has called me repeatedly even though I have requested that they stop. About ever 2 to 3 weeks! I agreed to a quote on the second call. The guy came out didn't even look at the roof and quoted $5,000 to seal it. Ridiculous. I ask our contractor about sealing the metal roof and he said never do it. They call me twice a month to ask if I still need a new roof. I've already had it replaced and have told them every single time to remove me from their list. They do not listen and did not remove my number. I am often not at my desk, so I have to drop what I'm doing and walk to the other end of our factory to answer the phone. Someone called back and harassed a different employee and demanded to speak to a manager. The man on the phone all of the sudden had a bad experience with my business that he couldn't discuss with me and wanted our corporate number. I wouldn't give it to him because I knew it wasn't true. He said he would find it online and that I would lose my job. These guys must not have much business if they have time to harass people who don't need a roof. I had resolved not to leave a bad review after getting our lawyers involved and dealing with their owner who is the most unaccommodating and aloof business owner I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with BUT I keep on getting sales calls asking if we want them to come do our roof based on the quote they gave us last year. What a huge indicator as to the lack of communication and care within the Five Star Roofing team. I've now decided to leave a review because I've been reminded MULTIPLE times via their sales calls (we just received one yesterday AND today) that our roof was done shoddily at best and they clearly don't seem to care since the owner can't even be bothered to tell his sales team to take us off the list. On the first day they were to arrive they were a no show. When I called and spoke to the administrator after no one from the company reached out, she explained the truck had broken down and she was so sorry but they'd be out the next day to begin. Not a problem, stuff happens. When the crew came out the next day they began their work and never consulted with me before beginning the work. It turns out the work crew does not communicate with the business they are working on but rather the Five Star administrative team does. Again, not a big deal as long as I can communicate with SOMEONE. I TRUSTED this contractor to do a good job. When the roof crew left after being here for a week due to weather I checked on the roof to see how it looked. My heart sank when I realized there was tar over spray on EVERYTHING. They did not cover the AC units that I trusted them to cover. Why did I trust them to cover up the AC units? It's contracting 101! Additionally, their contract states that the sunburst aluminum coating was to be sprayed on the roof after the minimum 60 days of curing time but was applied the next day after they finished spraying the coating. This is a very long story made short and my hope here is to save anyone else the awful experience and let down we experienced with this company. They could have turned this experience around by listening to our concerns, coming out to actually see the finished work (they never did after multiple asks to do so), and working with us. Please don't choose them to do your roof, you will only feel jilted and disappointed. read more

Our non-profit museum has been closed for over a month because of 5 Star Roofing (this buisness clearly needs renamed, no stars from me) did a horrible roof job, water damage from the roof has ruined the plaster job that had just been completed. I've been dealing with 5 Star Commercial Roofing out of Hartford City, IN for 10 years and don't hesitate to recommend them. I own a 40,000 square foot commercial building in Cleveland with 9 different segments of flat roof. Over the past 10 years, I've had 5 Star replace 5 of the 9 segments, at approximately one every two years. When I first began working with 5 Star, I was very skeptical because their bid was much lower than any others I'd obtained, and they were also able to do the job in about half the time others quoted, using alternative techniques for replacing my roofs. I've had two minor issues with the 5 sections that I had replaced over the past 10 years, and all it took was a phone call to my sales rep, Brad Liggett and he had a small crew out both times to fix the problems immediately. Over the more than 45 years I've owned this building, I've had many roofing companies service/replace sections of the roof, and I've never been as satisfied as I have been with 5 Star. read more

Five Star called our company to set up an appointment in the greater Cleveland area. Though I learned they generally do not set specific times, but large windows, for arrival. The sales rep TimDeeds arrived and did a great job and stated he would follow-up with a quote by weeks end because I had to leave (he arrived at 4:30) for an appointment after work. I made sure that no decision would be made until mid-year so he was aware of the process on my end; so let us be. I have since received phone calls every day from Mr. Chris Spegal, Owner & Joe (apparently the owners son) telling me they can give me a better deal. This tells me two things: 1) they aren't upfront with pricing and less than a week later are already undercutting their sales rep 2) they don't follow-up with their sales rep and the discussions he has had at the appointments. I have made Tim aware that I did NOT appreciate the way Chris approached the phone call I got on Mon 3/12 and called Tim. I then got another call from Joe with the same pushy sales tactic. I again let my sales rep Tim know that If I were to get another pushy phone call I was going to take action since I've already told Chris and Joe to not call me and have not listened. Today, I received another phone call/voice mail from Chris at 1:15 pm(3/15/18) letting me know he can get me a great deal on my pricing/quote. I told Tim yesterday (3/14) that he needs to tell them to stop calling me. If I get another call after asking to be no longer contacted, I was going to make a complaint on all social media/ BBB/ Review sites. So here I am. So my suggestion to you is this: If you are comfortable with constant daily calls, pushing for a purchase on a new commercial roof and them underselling their sales rep...call FIVE STAR ROOFING. If you are not, don't even let them in your door! Follow-up: 3/20/18 - I received yet ANOTHER call from Mr. Chris Spegal, (Owner) and explained that I have already told him, Tim and Joe to never call our place of business again. If they were, I would file complaints and named YELP as one (also have filed w/ BBB, DO NOT Call.gov). At this point Chris' behavior turned childish and behaving like an 8 yr old boy. Going on and on w/ "ooo you're going to file a bad review on yelp" and his poor, childish behavior continued. They do not have clear contact info or a location on their website = shady. We spent $24,000.00 to have a roof installed. Stated it was a 20 year warranty, three year warranty on labor. Three years and 8 days after the installation we called to have multiple leaks fixed. Happened to rain enough that we noticed the problem in a remote part of the building. Charged $450.00 labor and was told the repairs are warrantied for 90 days. If we had it to do again with this knowledge, we would have used another contractor. I hope this review helps other owners make decisions on a roofing contractor. read more

I was behind one of their trucks and apparently their workers use gasoline to wash their hands to get off their roofing tar and the gasoline/tar mixture is kept in a cooler in the bed of their work truck. This mixture is now all over the front of my new truck. I called the number on the side of the truck and the guy in charge told me to fuck myself.
