What can I say other than John completely hit it out of the park for me and some! I am around 40 and am a mid-senior level professional and since the pandemic I had deviated from the corporate sector a little and hired John to get to the next level of my career. I had a very enjoyable experience working with John. I chose the Professional Resume package, and here is my experience, step by step (with extra details to show how the timeline went for me): Day 1, Thurs - I reached out via email to inquire about the how the whole process works on a Thurs morn. Day 1, Thurs - 2 hours later, I get a response detailing each step in the process. Day 1, Thurs - It sounded good so I submitted payment as well as sent the latest draft of my resume. Day 3, Sat - I get a phone call from Amanda to discuss lining up the 1 hour session. I chose the in-person meeting instead of the phone call. Wanting to specifically meet with John based on other Yelp reviews I read, she told me someone would get back to me with his availability. Day 5, Mon - John emails me to ask if I can meet Thurs. Day 8, Thurs - We meet in person - the meeting had sort of a casual interview vibe, and being that I was going to be hitting the job market, thought it would be a good start to review my background in person to get my mind in that head space - we reviewed my career progression and resume in detail, with John taking lots of notes along the way. Day 8, Thurs - After the meeting, John emails me a few follow up questions as well as requests a few job postings that I would be interested in. I liked that as he was being thorough, really wanting to get it right. I responded a few hours later. Day 14, Wed - John sends me my first draft (typical turnaround is 5 business days so that was fine). Day 19, Mon - After reviewing for several days, I responded with a few revision suggestions. Day 21, Wed - John sent it back, incorporating my suggestions. I then made a couple other tweaks on my own after receiving the new draft, but I was good with where John left it. It was in Word so that made it very easy. Overall, I am very pleased with John's work. Note that the process is not for the lazy, and you definitely need to take an active role if you want the best result. If you do, you should get what you pay for and then some. I had an interview coaching service at five star resume. The session was going well at the beginning, but later the coach started to appear quite impatient until the last minute of session. I didn't feel he is sincere coaching you, rather, his attitudes made you feel he just wanted to finish as soon as possible. After the session, he promised to send me back the note and feedback he took during out session, but more than 48 hours I didn't hear back from him until I asked John ( the founder ) to ask him for the documents. After the second email sent to John, this coach sent me back the feedback with very short feedback. Overall, I am very dissatisfied with their service and attitudes. I don't know other services there, but at least please do not use their interview coaching service. It just wasted your money. read more

I purchased a cover letter and resume package after reading all the reviews. There were some issues with my intiial phone consultation, and John agreed to also do my Linkedin profile to make up for it. The whole process was very quick and I sent the resume back only once for some minor revisions. I was very skeptical about the revisions that were made to both my resume and cover letter. While the layout of my resume definitley was what I was looking to acheive, I wasn't sure it would get the much needed attention I was looking for. The results however, quickly made me rethink this. The response I started to receieve from hiring managers for jobs I applied to is more than double what I was getting with my former resume. I even got a call back from the exact same position I tried applying for over a year ago and at that time even tried to reach out to the poster on LinkedIn with no success. I used 5 Star Resume for interview coaching. They were very attentive, almost aggressive in setting up the session and getting payment. I wanted to get specific feedback, critique and pointers on how to improve my in-person interview skills. They reviewed my resume and came up with interview questions. John basically recorded my interview answers and said he would provide written feedback on my interview. A week later, I received bullet point summaries of how I answered the interview questions. No critical feedback, analysis or improvement pointers. Even worse, after two emails asking some follow up questions, I got ZERO response from John or his scheduling assistant.
