They are mannerless and barbaric. They do not value customers' time. I went there at 3:40 p.m., and they served two customers after me even though I had been waiting before them. I had been waiting until it was already 5:00 p.m., so I told the owner, Keny, that I had to go to the city by 6 p.m. He made fun of me, saying, "What, do you have to go to Wall Street?" Not bad at all. I was referred to this place by a different hair salon as they can accommodate me since I wear a headscarf and requested a female to cut my hair. I also needed privacy from other males; There's only one other male that works here. I got a layered haircut and it was nice and did the job. I was charged only $20 too for just a cut (no wash or blow dry) when other places generally do $25 for layers (if the owner is reading, please please please keep it this way lol) . They started arguing so loudly in front of us and yelling at each others in their own language it was terrible and as they were very loud they were being rough on us. Five Star Salon? Better to change their name to ONE STAR SALON!!!! I was looking for an Asian hair salon near where I live. And then I decided to try this place. I phone called them and asked for a price for men's hair cut. They said $12. When I entered the salon, there was no customer at that time. And 'Short-perm hair, Tall guy with a blue jean and Green-color shoe' asked me to sit at the chair. He started to check my hair, but he barely speaks english, so I couldn't really communicate with him. I didn't really expect to get a nice hair cut from this place because it is only $12 price. BUT, how he checked my hair and head with his comb was WAY TOO TOUGH and ROUGH. I felt a lot of pain on my head skin because every time he almost scratched my skin with his comb. How he treated a customer was too rude and rough. And he touched my head like my head is a basketball. I could just tell that he is a person who is sick and tired of that job. And then I realized that place seems really dirty. The cabinet he keeps his hair-cut tool looks really dirty with a lot of other people' hair. That was so nasty. I even saw a tree branch in a cabinet, I don't know what's that for. After I got a dissatisfied hair cut from him, he asked me for having a shampoo wash. So I said Yes. Shampoo service from a lady was okay, but the shampoo seat looks kinda dirty too. I was trying to pay and leave as soon as possible, he said the price is $15. So I asked "isn't it $12 you said"? He said if I do shampoo there is gonna be $3 extra. I understand most of hair salon charge for shampoo and it is still cheap. But I had the worst hair salon experience in my whole life, So I didn't want to pay a lot of tips for that guy. Also I can let them know that I was not satisfied. I left $2 for tips and tried to leave there. And then he and other lady were asking me for more tips. First of all, I didn't know they can force me paying tips like that, at service job place. And I thought $2 tip for that service and that experience was pretty enough for him. They keep telling me like "he cut your hair and she shampoo your hair and this is it?" I was so shocked of how they talked to me. I just put $1 more for tip and tried to leave. They kept talking to me $3 is not enough. After I paid $3 tips, I left there right away. If the owner of this hair salon check this review, I strongly want you to train your workers to work at service job. Worst decision I have made this year by going to this salon. They don't know how to speak in English so it is really hard to communicate with them. I believe the owner is the only experienced person in that salon but he still lacks in doing balayage. I asked specifically for balayage but they gave me highlights. I even stopped half way through and told them they are not doing it correctly but they did what they wanted, not what client wants. The owner was booked so I thought I will do it with other guy who was there and thought the owner will guide him through what I needed because only he understood little bit of English. I believed in them throughout the process and it was a huge mistake. At the end after the toner, they didn't even wash my hair with shampoo, only conditioned which was weird. My hair felt so rough, hard and frizzy after bleaching and dying. He didn't even blow dried my hair properly. I was so disappointed with my hair. They were just so awful and disrespectful but I still tipped him $25 after spending $170 for my hair even though I hated the result. I have never regretted like this in my whole life. But now because they've lied to me it's left a bad taste in my mouth and I never want to come back again. I understand that people get busy. But don't lie to me just to keep me in a seat. It's disrespectful, and shows you don't actually care about your customers. Since it's a 50/50 chance that they will see you in a reasonable amount of time (15-20 min as opposed to 40min-1 hr). OMG!! I'm so pissed off right now. If I can give 0 star, I would. I regret not having my haircut by the owner. I asked for layers in V shape, not checking my hair after the cut and hurried home, my brother literally laughed at my hair that's when I looked in the mirror and was in total shocked of how the cut went. I have never felt like this over a hair cut. I went back to get it fixed and have explained to him what I wanted. From what I can see, he didn't even fixed my hair and just made it shorter (I can't even tie it up) and worst! I'm very disappointed. I just want to cry. I called to see if there was a wait for a wash and blow dry. Now I understand why there wasn't. When I walked in I said that I wanted my hair washed and blown out. The man just pointed to the back of the store. I had to ask twice what he wanted me to do. So finally I'm told to stand and wait by the hair wash area. I had a chance to look around and saw the pedicure chairs covered in laundry, the second hair washing sink covered in towels and plastic and just how generally messy the entire store was. When the hair wash girl was done with the person ahead of me she had me sit without cleaning anything and then rushed through washing my hair getting my face and shoulders pretty wet. When she was done she hurriedly and forcefully dried off my shoulders. Then I went to get my hair dried. There was hair on the floor all around the chair that had not been swept up. While the man who did my hair was drying it he pulled my hair repeatedly and hit my head more than a few times with the blow dryer. He did not apologize at all for any of this. He made my hair flat and stick straight. He wanted to flat iron it and was surprised when I said no to that. Honestly I left looking like cousin it - complete with a part straight down the middle. I even changed the part but he put it back in the middle. My hair was knotty and staticky. They didn't want to take credit card so I went to the bank and came back to pay cash.
