Shannon and his Team do great work. They upgraded a storage area for mew and made it into a "bonus" room that is being used as a home office. The price quoted was in line with the final project costs. The work was quality and completed ahead of schedule. The workers cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day. The workers made sure their work did not mess up any existing areas of the home. Shannon is VERY responsive, and his Team does quality work at a fair price. I scheduled a meeting with Shannon last week for a 7:30am appointment that he never showed up to. This was unfortunate because my husband had to rearrange his work schedule and waited around for an hour for nothing. Shannon was apologetic for forgetting the appointment and I decided to give him another shot for the following week at 7:30am. He shows up at 7:50am without letting us know he was going to be late at all and provides us with a quote that is 2.5x as expensive as our most expensive quote thus far (we have 3 other quotes). I would have at least expected his timing and customer service would have been perfect with the highly inflated rates. Only updating my review because it really bothers me when people lie. As before we had another great experience with 540. They did a great professional job on our living room remodel. They listen to you. Not like some contractors in this valley that basically force you into somthing you dont like or want when they are in the middle of the remodeling. From invoice to construction to punchlist, they are very stand up. We had a butcher block countertop installed on our cabinets. Beautiful work and blending. We used them on the exterior of our house and they did an awesome job on it. There was a crazy amount of detail on the design and they nailed that as well. We will always recomend 540! read more

When their on line link did not allow me set an appointment they responded by twice telling me to go to other locations to set an appointment. If they expect me to jump through hoops just to set an audience with the emporer, I consider that a lack of customer service and an indication of many issues to follow. Life is too short. Like others have mentioned, Shannon missed our appointment, didn't communicate, and then blamed the mistake on us. How do you survive as a business when you ghost potential clients? We set an appointment a week out, confirmed the night before, and then reached out when an hour passed and he still hadn't shown up. His response: "I was gonna cancel but didn't have your phone number to let you know." How do you not have a phone number when it was asked for when we booked the appointment? What about emailing at least since that's how we confirmed the night before? And what changed overnight that you're suddenly too busy to keep an appointment and can't even let the potential client know? All in all, HUGE red flags! Definitely not ever using Shannon for any work! Extremely unprofessional! read more

We had Shannon come out on 2/22/19 for a quote to install garage cabinets. He was on time to his appointment and seemed personable. After spending 30-minutes with us, he said he would get back to us within a week. He knew we had other cabinet quotes being done that same day, so he knew the importance of getting the quote back to us soon. Everyone else who came out that day gave us a quote at that time, so I am not sure why he said it would take him a week. Regardless, we still waited a week before deciding on who to hire, so we could see how his quote compared to the other quotes. Anyway, it's 18 days later and we still never heard back from Shannon. Not sure why he blew us off and opted not to provide a quote, but it's fine since we hired someone else to do the job. I just don't understand his business mentality. Why come out and waste his time and ours if he wasn't going to give us an estimate? I would not recommend him to others based on my experience. read more

We had a disappointing experience with Five40 Remodeling. Contracted to do an entire remodel of our 4100 square foot home, Shannon seemed to lose hands-on interest in the project once the up-front payment was made. We soon figured out the one sure way to get him to show on-site was to explain the only way we would pay draws was by personal check at the house. The accounting was a huge problem. After much confusion, we were told not to rely on the site to follow expenses because it was undependable. Instead he sent texts and emails with handwritten notes how much was owed. A particular red flag was when one payment request changed by tens of thousands of dollars over three communications in the span of less than a week (and we were not thrilled to get a request for a payment traunch as he was traveling in Europe). In addition, the "final" payment has been a moving target- something to add always shows up. We are currently in dispute with Shannon after presenting him with a detailed spreadsheet we think proves we have been incorrectly charged for the total project and have actually overpaid. One positive- we enjoyed a good relationship with the subs and they were a pleasure to work with. read more

They deserve zero stars but yelp won't allow that. So, I go through yelp to make an appointment. They refer me to their website where I can make an appointment online. Awesome, I thought. I notice an appointment for the very same day... awesome, I thought. I make the appointment only to be told he can't make it because he's not feeling well. But I should make the appointment for the following Tuesday (2/4/20) @ noon. So I make it appointment and all is good, right? No! I am in a meeting and get a call one hour before the appointment. Takes about a minute to say that his personal schedule doesn't match with his work schedule and unless I can meet him @1130am (a half hour from when he just called) he wouldn't be able to make it because he has to drive all the way back to the east side of town for the doctors office. So, in the meeting, after I listened to the voicemail through an earbud, I text him to say I can make it. I leave the meeting early and arrive @ 11:25am. Him? No show. No call. No nothing. You referred to the time to meet. You called to move the appointment up. You failed to meet even the basics of business - your word. This is exactly why nobody likes to deal with contractors. Undependable. How you handled this tells me everything I need to know as to how you would have done with the job. Look elsewhere for a real contractor with his stuff together. Edit: They couldn't let me know they couldn't make it but they send a nasty response where they blame everything but themselves for the lack of communication. Run.... read more

We started as a remodel to our master bathroom and removing the soffits in the hallway and bedroom entries. Unfortunately the soffits in the bedroom entries were not included in the original quote. We did come to a mutual understanding for the additional work. Additionally they discovered that the drain system in the entire house needed to be replaced due to age of the pipes. This placed the project another week out from completion. It has been a long process with additional expenses and we have learned a lot about details. Overall very happy with end results. We will be using them in the future for additional projects. read more

We interviewed three different contractors when we decided to remodel our Scottsdale home, but Shannon Terembes and Five40 Remodeling stood out as the clear winner for a number of reasons. To start, we knew that his company had completed many remodels, and would therefore have the knowledge and experience to give remodeling advice. We also felt that they had probably already come across any problems that might arise with our project, and therefore, would know how to successfully deal with them. In addition, Shannon informed us that when they start a project, they work through to completion without jumping around to other projects. This was a huge selling point for us, as we had never experienced a contractor that had worked this way - with most juggling multiple projects at the same time and not showing up for days at a time due to being on another job site. The entire project was well orchestrated from quote to completion and the work was of superior quality and craftsmanship. The crew did what they said they were going to do, including showing up at our house on time each day and focusing on what they had told us would be happening that day. Nearly a year and a half after the completion of our remodel, we came across a concern with one of our cabinets and notified Shannon, who responded that very day and had scheduled a repair within a week. I live in an older home so I am constantly having people in to tune up or fix something. I hired Five40 for a attic remodel to provide storage and even on the first day could tell these guys were on another level compared to the previous contractors we had hired. The attention to detail and craftmanship was so amazing that I ended hiring them to do multiple other projects. They are meticulous about cleaning up at the end of the day and left me with absolutely no mess (or dust) to pick up at the end of the project. I felt prices were very fair and estimates were right on every time. We recently purchased a new home in Paradise Valley which had not been updated since the 90's. We needed a total update to the windows, flooring, kitchen and bathrooms. FIVE40 came highly recommended from a friend who had an addition built last year so we looked them up. My husband and I were really impressed that the owner of the company, Shannon, actually showed up to the initial appointment. He walked our home with us and gave us suggestions and advice about our options as we explained our vision. Unlike other contractors we've used in the past he actually gave us honest advise about what was and was not possible. He didn't just tell us what we wanted to hear. This was a major project which took several months to complete but Shannon and his team worked diligently throughout the renovation and kept us informed as change orders arose. They were great about providing us with options whenever possible. I can honestly say it was the smoothest renovation we have ever been through (take that for what it's worth). All and all the team at FIVE40 put together a beautiful custom kitchen with a large island and plenty of seating. Shannon was able to install our gas cooktop in the island using a vent system that goes under our floor and outside! Our master bathroom is a dream! We couldn't be happier with the multi valve steam shower and the floating shower bench! Hopefully this will be our last major project for a long time but if we need a great general contractor in the future or if anyone asks for one, FIVE40 Remodeling will definitely be the first to know! read more

Five40 Remodeling didn't just build for more beautiful bathrooms than we could have dreamed of, but they were so careful to ensure that the bathroom would be more durable than the one we had to replace. They took care to replace all of the wood that had been rotted from years of moisture, they sealed the wall with an extra layer of non-permeable material, they cut and recut the tile to make sure they fit was perfect. It was incredible! All this while maintaining a pleasant and professional attitude. They were so good to my 9 month old puppies, who would have been annoying to anyone else, and were so genial that my puppies actually waited for them to arrive as though they were old friends. They took care to lay plastic on my floor and carpet and were always on time. They responded promptly to any email or text requests and outperformed our expectations.
