I found a helpful video produced by Solano Mobility. At the end of the video, the host said to give them a call, so I called. My location was a bit out of their area of coverage, but the gentleman I spoke was clearly knowledgeable and gave me his time and advice on my stairlift issue. He explained the exact bolt, location, and wrench size I needed to address my issue. He even offered me to call him back when I was at the location should I need further advice!!! I may be able to resolve it myself. Solano Mobility has an authentic concern for helping others. That is a great metric for judging the value system of the company. I recommend viewing the Youtube videos to confirm the company's "How can I help" attitude. I wish they covered my area.

Owned by a man, Mr. Peters, who knows his medical equipment I was able to get my father's wheelchair repaired in one week. Most of that time was spent waiting for the replacement part. We chose to take the chair to his store but for an additional fee he can travel to your residence to make the necessary repairs. The fee was reasonable given replacement parts are priced by corporate robber barons but so worth it to avoid the purchase of a new chair. I highly recommend this repair shop. And to be clear, I never met or heard about this place until I researched online.

The people are cool, with some long-time residents who can really chat up a storm and give tips about bikes, shops, rides. The entrance might be a bit small so big bike people may have to be gentle in getting their bikes in/out. Reasonably priced for Manhattan parking space. If you live in the area, it's a no brainer. Even if you don't live in the area, you'll find that it's still a nice garage to park in. There are a few people who don't even live in New York who park their bikes here.

But the few who have had bad experiences can't wait to post about theirs. Take these reviews with a grain of salt. Jeff is a very nice man and tries hard to help people as best he can. I have had a scooter, or multiple scooters, for over 10 years and have been to Gem at least four times during that period. I have been there for repairs and for purchases. Granted you might pay a little more there, than you would if you purchased on the Internet, but you would have your scooter or wheelchair right there on the spot. You wouldn't have to wait days or weeks to get it. Isn't it worth a couple more dollars to have someone explain using it to you rather than opening a box and knowing nothing. And the products he sells are all quality products. How can someone expect him to take their off brand low quality product make them into something they're not, for a couple of dollars. Yesterday I went in for a repair. After Jeff pointed out to me all the things that would have to be fixed, and the cost of each of them, I decided to purchase a new one. Yes it was an upsell. But it made sense. He showed me all that he would have to do with my scooter and it would still be an older scooter. Now I have a brand new one and I'm very happy. As I said, I have owned almost the same scooter for about 10 years, and yet Jeff was able to show me features yesterday that I never knew my scooter had. I couldn't get that from a box placed in front of my door. For anyone on the fence, give Gem a chance. They are a very reputable company and everyone there will do the best they can do to help you.
