Looking for an electronics repair specialist to fill out my tech team roster, this guy came highly recommended by none other than Sandra Philips of Smart Shopping Montreal, only for this cool cat turning out to be a weasel in disguise. He did an excellent job at first, and ordinarily this place would deserve a five star review but for the owner's insistence on ripping me off and then lying about it. In the Spring of 2020 I had a Paradigm subwoofer to get fixed and it was supposed to cost me $90.00, but there were complications (the circuit board had a short which burned out the new parts he installed) which led to cost over runs, bringing the bill to $250.00 tax included. Instead of telling me in advance, I only found out when I was coming over to pick it up in the Summer of 2020. He told me to charge the customer $280.00 since the subwoofer was worth $300.00. Needless to say, my customer wasn't pleased and I was lucky to break even. On top of all that, the repair only lasted a couple of weeks, after which the customer (now even less pleased) brought it back to be repaired under warranty. I brought it back to him within the warranty period and this time he couldn't fix it. When it came time to start talking refund, I mentioned the $250.00 it had cost me. He then balked and said that he had never charged anyone that much for a subwoofer repair. He talked to his colleagues and came up with a receipt for $150.00 signed by his techie. This is patently untrue and it's fraudulent. He's laying himself wide open to civil liability and criminal prosecution. Anybody signing their name to this would also be guilty under the law. I've had suspicions before, but now I have the proof that he's been intentionally defrauding me. Other revelations, such as a vintage Pioneer amp that he charged me to fix a year ago but was later found to have never been serviced (my customer had abandoned it and I had to wait to find a potential buyer and get it appraised) are only the icing on the cake. He's an authorized service center for a number of well-known name brands, for God's sake. If you're an individual, maybe you won't get burned. But if you're a business, he seems to take delight in inflicting as much damage as possible if you make them mistake of trusting him and giving him the benefit of the doubt. All this seems calculated to not only cause me frustration but to also make me look bad in the eyes of my customers. If you don't want my business, just say so. But if you take my money, you'd better give me the same level of service that you give your consumer clientele. I don't know about you, but this is sick behavior (which is probably why his assistant techie and delivery guy Jean-Luc quit without warning about a year and a half ago). I hope whatever satisfaction he got was worth making a liar out of everyone who vouched for him and vindicating all his critics. Other than that, he's a good techie. If you want him to cut your keys, go ahead. If you want your watch fixed, I see no risk. He's not that great with smartphones or tablets, though. The nearest wholesaler is in Brossard and his mouthing the owner off has burned bridges with them (something he secretly excels at) and he has to get a proxy to buy the parts for him. Why waste time? He can't fix videogame systems, either. He outsources those repairs to a couple places in LaSalle. Why not go to them directly and cut out the middle man? Either way, I cannot in good conscience recommend him nor refer customers to him anymore. read more

Over the years, I've had several items repaired there. They are competent, honest, reasonably priced. They really do fix practically anything. If I'd listened to other people's advice, I would have bought a new tv over 10 years ago, I would have replaced my digital thermometer, bought a new coffee maker etc., got a new turntable. With regards to my turntable that is about 40 years old, I asked him if I would be better off buying one of those that he had on display, and he told me that mine was better, explained what features made it better, and that he would call be with an estimate. He did so the next day, and the repair was very inexpensive. If you want your items to last as long as possible, and not create more junk for the trash piles of the planet, getting things fixed is definitely better. He'll tell you if it's not worth repairing, and the estimate is free (in my experience). read more

I have been bringing electronic items (iPhones, iPads, ...) to FixRUs for years as well as a Hayward expensive to replace remote. The owner operator is Ashley and he always does great work at reasonable prices. I don't understand the negative reviews posted here. I am sure some people can have bad experiences or disappointments but this is an honest and reliable merchant/repair shop. 5 stars from me. All The way. read more

Please consider spending a bit more money and taking your appliances and/or electronics to competent and trusted professionals. Here is my personal experience: I brought my laptop for them to repair some body damage that happened due to a broken hinge. I ordered the exact parts needed with the same serial numbers so as to make sure everything will fit correctly with the model of laptop I have. Upon receiving the parts, I brought it to Fix R Us and they assured they could fix it so I left my laptop and the ordered parts with them. A day and a half later, Ashley called saying it was ready. I went to Fix R Us to pick up my laptop, and verified the work that was done. I immediately checked my webcam (because that was the only electronic component around the area they had to work) and it was not working. Furthermore, the body of the laptop still had the original gap that I had brought it in for, expect now with the new parts in place. I addressed these issues with Ashley and he quickly said "How do I know you did not break the webcam" and "The parts you bought are defective". Clearly, he was blaming me and I had proof that the webcam was working flawlessly before I brought it to them. Additionally, every time an electronic component on a computer is turned on, there is a log of that and Windows logged the webcam being functional on the day I brought my laptop in during the evening hours (at exactly 5:36 pm) when the laptop was in their possession. Anyway, he said he would have his technician look at it. The next day, I was getting anxious and I did not want them to mess anything else up and make my laptop completely useless, so I called Ashley asking for any updates about my laptop and he said "oh it might be a pinched wire because you opened it" and "You could buy a webcam on Ebay for 40$, since its your fault and we will install it for you for free". Again, putting the blame on me, classic con man act. I quickly made my way to Fix R Us and went to get my laptop (webcam broken and body not fully fixed but better than before). For his final con man act, he said "you know you still have to pay me". I did not want any problems with him and he surely looked like his shop needed the money more than I do, so I gave him 138$ in exchange for a now broken laptop with new hinges! I would not even had posted a review or be upset if he had said that it was their fault, but the fact that he kept blaming me was very annoying and ruined the entire customer service experience. I know his condescending ways, deceitful actions, and his inability to listen to his customers will allow him to scam many more out of their hard earned money for years to come. So if any of you want to make easy money, just open a store, claim you can fix anything, return the goods in a broken state and blame your customers for all the non-functional parts and you should be at Ashley's status in no time! read more

Over the years they have fixed a vacuum , and replaced watch bands and batteries for me . Also a laptop power chord .Fair prices They have also told me when it was not worth repairing something with no charge estimates . read more
