Unfortunately I had a pipe burst earlier this year. The basement was flooded & we discovered an underlying asbestos floor that had to be removed. I called several companies that offered this service but I was having a hard time finding one I liked until I called Flag Enterprises in Lindenhurst NY. Tom & everyone in the company that I dealt with was so nice. Tom explained the 3 day process to me so I knew what to expect. He was very patient & caring unlike the other companies that provided no answers. When the job began they came on time each day. They were courteous, neat & respectful of my home. They even put up a plastic barrier preventing my cats from entering the basement. They removed benches, shelving & everything needed to access the entire floor. They removed all the asbestos successfully & then cleaned up the floor finishing it with a coat of gray paint. They made easy for my contractor to lay down a new vinyl floor. Completely unprofessional thefts! Don't not use this company! I had a flood in my home in September. I had about 2inches of water on the first floor, den and basement of my home after a big rainstorm. I am a new home owner and was frantic and didn't know what to do. I immediately call my flood insurance company and the told me they would send an Ajustor in a week in the meantime i should call a restoration company to come in a clean up the water, I goggle restoration company's, this was the first one that popped up and I called. They said they would send someone over to asset the damage. The arrive about an hour later and took a look at my damage. The quoted me a price of 4,445 dollars to remove the carpets and to have blowers dry my walls they said this is all that needed to be done. I accepted and wrote them a check. They now brought in blowers to dry up the water and removed all of my carpets. I called my insurance adjustor and they said they would reimburse me. They manager of this company said they will be back in five days to take away the blowers when it was dry. I was happy that the situation was taken care of. Now this is where the shadiness come in to play. Five days later they return and remove the blowers after the confirm its dry. I tell them that I have flood insurance and that the adjustor is coming today. I told this to the manger of this company. He said he would like to speak with him about what they cover. I called the Insurance adjuster on speaker phone and he said that insurance covers the blowers the removal of carpets and to cut dry wall up four feet. Now after hearing this he said ok and hangs up, he proceeds to tell me that I should do it just in case if Insurance is paying for it anyway to prevent mold from POSSIBLY happening. I asked why this was not in the initial assessment. He tells me that he was watching out for my wallet since the initial payment for the removal and dryers was out of pocket. Now that he knows I have flood Insurance he proceeds to convince me that it is in my best interest to do the removal of the drywall. I agree to this since I was not paying out of pocket for the extra job and that this was in my best interest for my home. They said they will wait for me to receive my settlement for the extra $6000. (They were looking to make more money on the insurance companies dollar) Now as I said I'm a new homeowner and believe that this is what this costs and is in my best interest for my home. Now the job is done and the adjuster comes and he says that the bill of the extra 6000$ on top of my 4445$ is very high normally it should be around 8000$ but since it done he will summits this in my claim. He informs me it takes months to receive payment. I inform the manger of this company and they agree to wait for payment. Now fast forward a month they call and ask for the money and I tell them that I am still waiting for my settlement to be accepted by the insurance company. They say the understand. Now after learning from other people and from my private adjuster that I hired that this takes months to receive money and that normally restoration should cost about $8000 when this company has charged me now $12,000. Now I understand that this companies is scheming and taking advantage of people in bad circumstances. They proceeds to call every week for there money. And every week I tell them I'm waiting and when I get the check I'll pay them. This goes on for 4 months. Now I receive the check and they only gave me 8k for restoration. But I don't want to fight with them so I was planning on giving them the extra 4K out of the rest of the money I got to fix my home. Now the owner bob calls me again and I inform them that I have gotten my check and that I would send them the money once the Mortage companies releases the money to me in thirty days. The owner of this companies bob starts screaming at me saying he wants his money and he will not wait any longer and wants to come to my house to discus this in person! Feeling theathen I hung up the phone. He calls me back screaming he doesn't like getting hung up on and he wants his money. I cant believe how aggressive he is, I could never speak wait scream at a customer of mine how dare you for one. Two don't you think If I had the money from the company I would of gave it to you already. These people sat in my house and said they work the insurance companies all the time. How dare they. I can't and won't be treated less then any human being and don't think anyone else should. If you have a crisis in your home and want someone to scheme money out of you and treat you like your beneath them and want to deal with erratic people you have found your company Best of luck!! read more
