We came to Flaming Grill buffet for Father's Day. It was crowded but they seated our party of 12 with ease. We were seated in one of the party rooms. Everyone had to be there before seating. Many different food stations and hot and cold options were available. I enjoyed the rice, spicy chicken, skewers and the hibachi. The hibachi is great but the worker didn't know what was chicken, beef or pork which could be a problem for those that don't eat certain meats. Nothing was labeled in that section. Some of the other stations and dishes were not labeled is one of my complaints. The other complaint is that children are allowed to run around and play around the buffet. They had signs to prohibit this but people didn't watch their kids and it wasn't enforced. Some kids were playing drums with the tongs, picking around the food and should have been asked to sit down once they had their food. Our server was attentive and we didn't feel rushed. Decent spot for an Asian buffet! I gave this place a try during lunch time on a weekday, and it wasn't too crowded. They have a large selection of foods and they keep all the treys pretty hot. They also have a hibachi option at the back, which was a nice plus. Most of the foods I tried were just okay, nothing really stood out. Overall, I had an okay experience at this spot. This place has upgraded their food taste big time. It's been a few years since we've been here since Covid and everything is so much better. The food is hot temperature wise, the servers are more efficient and friendly. The place is clean and busy. The food is changed out frequently. The ambiance is casual. We arrived around 8:20 pm, they were cleaning up most of the restaurant. When we went to get our food, most of it looked like it had been sitting out for a bit, not much left in each pan. When I asked our waitress, the host came to speak to us about it. They said that if there was something specific I wanted to let them know and that they'd put out more food in about ten minutes. When I went back all I saw them add was fried rice and fried sugar bread. I again had to scrape the pans of what I wanted. The employees were also yelling at one another as we went for our food. Our waitress was very sweet. I did not like this experience. If they see that there is hardly food, stop letting people in if they don't plan on making more or don't charge the full price for such little selection. There is so many food carts full of hot fresh food. They have so much you better bring your appetite with you. They have excellent pizza , seafood , wings and desserts . They have plenty of soups, fish and have crab legs to go. They have everything even an arcade area for the kids! It's beautiful inside the place and plenty of booths to sit down to enjoy your meal. The service is excellent from the time we walked in to the time we left. They kept refilling our drinks , taking empty plates away and checking to see if we needed anything. I really enjoyed eating here and definitely marking this as the best buffet in Houston so far. Excellent staff and excellent food! I had a really bad experience with this buffet I went in with a family of 15. At the door They have a sign where a family of eight or over it's required to pay 15% of tip which was reasonable for me but what got me upset was that when we were about to pay we all paid our own tabs and they forced us to pay 15% of each ticket whenever the waitress handed us. Our first ticket tip was not included so I tipped her cash, but then went upfront and the manager changed our ticket and added 15% tip and stayed arguing for about 20 minutes that why were we be in charge 15% tip on each tab. We really enjoyed this buffet. Right off the bat, the selections were plenty and of good quality considering it's a buffet. They had a sushi station, hibachi station and dessert station. The place was clean and the entrees were replenished often. Staff was super nice and refills happened often. Price for 2 adults and 4 kids all 9 and under was $50 and some change. Labels that were there were out of place I like to know what certain meat it being that I don't eat pork. So not sure what's in the egg rolls or pot stickers because they weren't labeled. O AND they have jalapeno popper's and they were good..and if you're a cheese lover like me they have a cheesy broccoli casserole that is delicious. When they just opened it was really great. Lots of selection very fresh. We came on Christmas Day. They hiked the price from 11.99 to 17.99 they said because more seafood. But the menu didn't look any different except for the crab legs that were over cooked. My husband doesn't like seafood so he tried other food, the barbecue chicken was hard like it had been there all day. So he went to try to teriyaki chicken and kebab chicken and they were all extra crispy as well! What I did like was seafood delight and another seafood mix which I attached the photo. They didn't seem to want to refill the other dishes that were out. So options were even more limited. The restaurant offers a hibachi grill, fresh made sushi, & all sorts of food as well as Chinese dishes. But... The food had little flavor. Only one dish, the "roasted broccoli" was bad. It was made with a lot of onions & cheese but tasted like the like it had gone bad. I put it in a napkin, washed out my mouth & moved on. I tried the broiled chicken. It tasted like pork. I had beef & broccoli, chicken & broccoli, broiled salmon, broiled shrimp, grilled shrimp & more. Nothing had much flavor at all. I don't intend to try it again. Not bad but for $12.95 my money would have been better spent elsewhere. read more

One thing I learned is the best time to go to a buffet is when it's busy. The long lines and headaches of not being seated right away may be frustrating, but at least the food will be fresh and hot. Hubby and i decided to go on Sunday, during lunch time. We didn't plan it out, it just happened that way. We were in the area and saw this new place we hadn't seen before, so we decided to give it a try. We get there and there's already a line at the door. Thankfully we didn't have to wait long, as they were seating people rather quickly. It's a big place and they have a lot of tables! Our hostess was kind enough to sit us near the front of the restaurant. She noticed we were both already sweating from the Houston heat and didn't want to make it worse by sitting us near the hibachi grill towards the back. When it comes to the food, i like to get a bite worth of everything to see what's good and what's not. Let's just say, i ate everything on my plate. The temperature of the food was perfect. They were consistently bringing food out from the kitchen, hot and steaming. The variety of sushi was was great. They really put in the effort to make more than just imitation crab sushi. They had eel! I've never seen a buffet that served eel sushi before. The variety of desserts was amazing! From ice cream, strawberry mousse, almond cookies, fruit, and coffee cake (YUM!) Our waitress was very attentive, always coming around and asking us if the food was ok, bringing us refills, taking our dirty plates. There for we did give them a chance to have something right. The only thing good at the buffet was the fruit. Everything else has probably been there all day by the looks and texture of it. Still in search of a great Asian buffet. All the food I had was so so, just OK, nothing to remember. All the Chinese saucy chicken dishes were pretty much the same. Literally nothing I had for dinner was worth mentioning, nothing gross or terrible, just all dull buffet food. My dining partner did think the fried chicken wings were great, but that was the only thing he thought was worth mentioning. There was Blue Bell ice cream available for dessert, that is hard to mess up. Also on the dessert buffet was some good peanut brittle. My husband and I went and ate here today. The food was good. It appeared the waiter / waitress were short staffed. My husband and I were talking and planning on coming back to eat here, but upon the time to pay and leave, several issues arised 1.) waitress came asked if we moved tables because she couldn't find our check. 2.) Limit 4 people. 1 coupon per table. 3.) advertisement as well as their website states lunch buffet price being $7.99 but however in the restaurant they charge $8.99 per adult. Well when my husband and I went up to pay for our bill the price was $23.55 the guy and woman at the cash register were arguing over my bill in foreign language that I don't understand. The guy asked did I change tables I said no we sat at same table we were seated at by the hostess. I presented my coupon and was told oh that's just for one person although it says LIMIT 4 people per table. The total price was $20.15. As we paid the bill the two cashiers were still arguing over it. Although the food was good, I don't appreciate deceptive practices where it's one price online and advertisement and something totally different after eating and getting up to cashier. My husband and I no longer plan on going back.
