The bartenders are always friendly. What really makes Flaming Saddles stand out is the crowd late night. Once the other gay bars close, this is where everyone ends up. You'll see the "who's who" of Hell's Kitchen--drag queens, bartenders, nightlife folks--basically their after-work hang (or pregame, depending on your stamina) until 4AM. A fun gay bar with cowboy vibes. A group of girls and I came by for a night out. We all had a round of tequila shots ($10 each) and sang along to the music. There are song requests that get queued into a Spotify playlist, but we couldn't quite figure out how it worked. This bar is great vibes but the staff do not treat women the same. A few of us lesbians got waters pulled out of our hands and told to leave randomly and refused to let our male friends know we were heading out. extremely upsetting experience especially after saying we would leave and to just let our friends know we were ordering ubers and they absolutely refused to tell them or indicate we were heading out safely to our male friends. it felt extremely targeted because we were feminine lesbian woman in this space. read more

I want to add that the owner personally reached out to me after reading this review, and I was honestly blown away by her kindness and sincerity. She apologized directly, asked to hear more about what happened, and made it clear that this is not how she runs her business. When I first visited Flaming Saddles back in 2021, I had an amazing time (so much so that I specifically wanted to bring my friends to experience it too). That's why this experience shocked me so much. But the fact that the owner took the time to write me such a thoughtful message shows how much she cares about her customers and about maintaining a welcoming, fun environment. I truly appreciate how seriously she took this and will say confidently that this reflects very well on her and on the heart behind the business. The pandemic closed the WeHo location of this raucous country-western gay bar, so Jamie W and I never made it there. We're not the cowboy hat-and-chaps type anyway. However, we decided to submerge our inhibitions and come to the Hell's Kitchen location during a particularly frosty day in Manhattan. We loved it right away because the bartenders were friendly in their revealing tank-tops and tight blue jeans. The bar counter itself was huge and long. We didn't know if there was a set time for the frivolity, but we enjoyed the show. Good thing I had five-dollar bills on me. So did the already inebriated bachelorette party who kept slapping the bartenders' firm backsides. Of course I had to test them myself. Their firmness was not accidental. It turned out they were all Broadway dancers earning money between casting calls. Happy Hour drinks were generously poured and quite reasonably priced at $7 for a 2-for-1 deal. The Coyote Ugly of Hells Kitchen. Loveee it. The vibes are so fun and I wish I could learn the dances with them! Taylor and Lloyd are excellent at their jobs. I always feel so welcome and happy when I'm here. I couldn't resist a jello shot, bringing me back to my college days. Tasted delicious and went down smoothly! What a fun place to make new friends and simply celebrate life. I love the music and watching the TVs while posting up at the bar. This is a nice small bar, very packed on weekend nights. No cover. Open floor for people to hang out and dance. Few tall booth tables are available for drink and dine. The music is good here, but I didn't see any DJ, mostly it's a playlist. The bartenders are multi talented here. I stumbled into this bar after having dinner across the street with some friends and not wanting the night so end. So we said we'll pick the first bar we notice. We walked down the block and saw a bright red bar that wasn't crowded. Perfect! Im older now so I need a seat and not to feel like I'm cornered by people lol I was immediately greeted by the nicest bartender upon walking into the bar. The drinks were solid and decently priced (about 10- 12 bucks for gin and ginger ale; I can't remember) they were also having a happy hour; buy one get one on drinks. It brought me so much joy to stumble upon Flaming Saddles while inebriated and walking around the area. Even though I wasn't the biggest Flaming Saddles fan when we had a location in my neck of the woods (West Hollywood), I was sad to see my location close during the pandemic, so it was a little nostalgic and fun going to the New York location. Giving mad gay Coyote Ugly vibes, this place is so much fun.... Especially when the bartenders get up and do their routines. Drinks are affordable and strong, there was a great bartender, I wish I remembered his name because made me feel at home. Came here for my birthday, ordered 3 drinks and went back to the bar to get a water for my friend. He needed another one after. This one bartender told me when I came back to the bar, "Don't even think about ordering another water, buy a drink." He continued to stand there and not serve me and make fun of me with a customer. Luckily another bartender was nice enough to give me a water and was very kind about it. We did not stay. To be in a bar and not serve someone a water when their friend clearly needs one is truly ridiculous. Incredibly rude service and we will not be coming back. Flaming Saddles is probably about as much fun as straights should be allowed to have at a gay bar. This fun, friendly spot is a perfect place to kick back and throw down a few drinks with friends and enjoy quality, often country-tinged tunes (and/or whatever camp is on the TV--The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas is a frequent favorite). Oh, and if the idea of handsome, shirtless men dancing on the bar Coyote Ugly-style sounds appealing...then you really, really shouldn't miss this place. Most times I've been here, it's been quite crowded, but the barkeeps manage to not keep you waiting, mixing some solid, stiff cocktails--even while adroitly attending to their aforementioned bar dancing duties. Prices aren't bad for HK, either. I would stick to drinks, though. Wine options are few. Beer options are a bit more plentiful, but not many good options, and the one draft I had seemed skunked. Still, well worth coming in for those drinks. This place is relatively spacious, and particularly good for groups/events. My bestie had his Big Gay 40th here (don't tell him I gave away his age away), and it was riotous fun for our huge group. Also, if you happen be a Drag Race fan, do yourself a favor and pop in for a live viewing here. It is some sassy spectator sport viewing, as the crowd roots for their faves and essentially live tweet the show live for you.
