Who knew that an entertainment district themed after turn-of-the-century Mid-Atlantic boardwalks (e.g., Coney Island, NY and Atlantic City, NJ) would have so much appeal? Well for us, it did. It's really charming and intimate, especially when compared to other parts of Disney World, like the relatively gargantuan Disney Springs. So, along with the fun and unique "seaside" period atmosphere, its size and the fact that this part of Disney isn't crowded had a lot to do with our enjoyment of Disney's BoardWalk. There's a black-and-white photo inside the BoardWalk Inn of the Three Stooges during an appearance at the Steel Pier in Atlantic City in 1938. To me, that photo encapsulates the time period and atmosphere that I think Disney aspired to recreate at the BoardWalk, and I think Disney was successful, for the most part. Aside from the Inn (and the Innkeeper's Club), highlights here include the Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers, Screen Door General Store (for exclusive BoardWalk merch), and Atlantic Dance Hall (cool they have this art-deco music venue here). My wife and I would like to return and have dinner at restaurants Flying Fish (seafood) and Trattoria al Forno (Italian).

When we don't have a park day scheduled, this becomes our alternative park day and it hits the spot. Plenty of food, options, music, and all the Disney shopping you can handle.

One suggestion: because it can get extremely hot, it would be great if they added more misters or cooling areas throughout the Springs. There isn't a lot of shade, so walking around outside can be a challenge unless you duck into the stores or restaurants for a break. The free parking is definitely a plus. You do have to go through a security screening before entering Disney Springs, but it was a smooth process and completely understandable. Just be prepared--it's very easy to spend a few dollars here! Between the Disney merchandise, treats, and unique shops, there are plenty of tempting things to see. Overall, it's a fun place to visit, especially with family, and a great way to enjoy some Disney magic without needing a park ticket. I'm sure some day they will end up charging for this area, but I hope not.

Seeking certain items can become a challenge when walking through various aisles of a big store. I do love a huge selection of items but sometimes less is more. I was indeed grateful to find a few items I couldn't find at other stores/supermarkets to take with me on my trip back home. Customer service is also great, was able to find a store representative to assist with locating one item that was hard to get. I did do a price check on some of the items purchased and others I did not and found some to be less expensive than in my home area yet others were a bit pricier. Overall great store.

While I recognize that this Yelp page is most likely for the Flamingo Crossings Town Center, I was so impressed with my visit to the Flamingo Crossings Village that I wanted to write about that experience as it is still technically Flamingo Crossings. While the Town Center has a mix of restaurants, shopping, services, hotels, and more near Walt Disney World Resort, it is also home to the Flamingo Crossings Village just across the street split into the East and West Villages, which house approximately 10,000 Disney interns, cast members, and operating participants. It is managed and owned by American Campus Communities (ACC) and offers two- and four-bedroom apartments with private or shared bathrooms. There are also many amenities within each of the two villages for the community as a whole. This community layout is consistent with many colleges and universities across the country who currently partner with ACC or a similar public-private partnership. During my tour, I saw the Community Center with a 24/7 front desk offering customer service and support to all of the residents. There was a HUGE gym upstairs with a service center window downstairs offering sports equipment, cleaning supplies, wagons, utility carts, and a place to accept packages to place in a package room. There was a large pool, lounges, study spaces, and more. There are also daily movies at the pool (Disney-themed) along with a variety of events and activities each month from craft activities, larger-scale social events, free treat giveaways, and so much more. This is consistent with both villages. I was also impressed to see how much Disney was able to be viewed across the communities. Read more about these special communities at https://www.americancampus.com/student-apartments/fl/disney/flamingo-crossings-village. In addition to the villages, the actual Flamingo Crossings are has a lot to offer the residents of the villages and any Disney fan or Orlando-area resident happening by the area. The Town Center has over 40 familiar brands and unique-to-market offerings in a 200,000 square foot, open-air retail hub. It is open daily. They have 21 restaurants or gas stations with shops. Some national chains include 3Natives Açai Café, Dunkin', Firehouse Subs, Five Guys, Skyline Chili, SONIC, Starbucks, and Wendy's just to name a few. The five retails stores include AT&T, Fit2Run (The Runner's Superstore), Five Below, Target, and The UPS Store. The three services include an ER, Primary Care, and Nail Salon. A couple of years ago Disney D-Tech Me moved into Darth's Mall with a very creative offering. They will take a 3D image of your face and then transfer it to an action figure.
