Mike was a consummate professional and does incredible work. I hired him for 5 custom radiator covers. He does Shaker-style, and they're beautiful. The quality is much better than the semi-custom made-to-order delivery options. It's a little more money but they came fully assembled, delivered up the stairs by Mike himself, and he made a few adjustments for my floors and moldings. What service! He prefers to deliver and work closer to his place so he can do measurements himself. I'd use him again! read more

Mike built and installed a custom vanity for us (photos attached). We have a very small bathroom and the available styles and sizes of vanities at Home Depot didn't match what we wanted, so I reached out to Mike, he came over to take a look, and provided a quote for the work. Building a custom vanity was a little more expensive, but we got so much more for what we paid. I selected Mike in part because when he came to look at the configuration of my existing vanity and plumbing, he had a clearer vision that he articulated for how he could build and install the vanity, and what the options were given the positioning of the plumbing. The other contractors I had come and look didn't mention the relationship between the dimensions of the drawers and open space and the existing plumbing in the wall. We also asked Mike if it would be possible to build a pull out step under the vanity that our 1.5 year old daughter could use to step up and use the sink (probably when she gets to be 2 years old or so). He explained his vision for that and it was perfect. Mike also built the style of the doors and drawers to match a style we had seen, and as you'll see in the pictures, it looks amazing. Mike was super easy to work with, very responsive, and provided a documented design spec that he sent to me for approval (which we made a few tweaks to). He delivered the piece on time and was flexible with his schedule in matching to mine to install it. He expected half of the price of the piece as a down payment, very reasonable, and received the rest upon delivery and installation. I ordered the vanity top custom from home depot and I selected the handles I wanted Mike to install. He used the top to ensure that the piece he built would conform to fit. I also ordered the tread for the step after brainstorming ideas with Mike. I personally removed the old vanity and disconnected the old plumbing, but that could be done by a plumber as well. Mike installed the new vanity against the wall, and I had my plumber connect the plumbing to the new faucet we bought after Mike had left. Overall, I can't recommend Mike highly enough. He is professional, creative, responsible, and I can tell he takes pride in his work. I enthusiastically recommend Flanagan's Precision Woodworking, and I'm very pleased to be able to write this universally positive review. We had a large job completed by Mike in our living room, and not only was the work completed on time and with truly excellent quality, he also left the room spotless and his gear tucked away at the conclusion of each day (an important issue when you're trying to live in the area in which someone is working). Mike has a great creative vision and was able to listen and interpret our ideas when we as the homeowners had only a vague concept of what we wanted to have done. He is also an honestly good person that we had no second thoughts about giving a key to our home so he could come and go as he pleased during the building phase. Flanagan's costs are very reasonable, particularly given the incredible attention to detail that he exhibits. He has won a customer for life and will always be the first person I call for any woodworking needs around our home. You just don't come across people or craftsmen like Mike very often. read more

I can't say enough about Flanagan's Precision Woodworking. Mike Flanagan has gone above and beyond for my family several times. He designed and built a barn door that hinges to cover our oddly-placed washer/dryer. It was a very unique piece with a lot of "wait and see if this works," so when a few things went wrong, Mike came back and fixed them (it now looks/works perfectly). I even found Mike re-painting a few spots that weren't, apparently, to his satisfaction. The one thing that put my love for Precision Woodworking over the top was when my daughter's gerbils were fighting and I had to separate them within their large cage. I tried chicken wire, among other things, to no avail. I then reached out to Mike with an odd request - "Can you create a custom gerbil divider for me?" Of course he could. And he did. And we still have it YEARS later just in case our three new gerbils start eating each other. Just this week, even though he's super busy with larger projects, Mike fixed a coffee table I had delivered from West Elm that was missing a part. He's just one in a million. If you're looking for a quality wood worker ... for anything that involves wood, look no further. Mike could probably sculpt an entire neighborhood out of wood and have it look like Disneyworld. Michael Flanagan's work is a of a fine craft that less and less people seem capable of. I had him hand craft a damaged stair last year and hope that someday i have to replace all the treads to match his amazing work. I'm already saving up for his radiator covers and hoping someday to have him do custom cabinets or bookshelves in my home. I had a library built against a wall in my apartment that has 12' ceilings with a sliding ladder. Mike is extremely easy to work with. He is clear about design, timelines and price. He is more than communicative and very courteous. The work itself is EXACTLY to my specifications and of high quality. It looks amazing. He was also kind enough to build some smaller custom pieces to adjust for my TV. This is not at all the usual contractor nightmare you've heard about; Mike is excellent and I would/have highly recommended him to anyone looking for a really easy and beautiful design and install. read more

Michael Flanagan is a wonderful carpenter with great skills and even greater patience. He has an extraordinary ability to take a design and identify the areas that need to be tweaked resulting in a wonderful collaborative partnership. He just finished putting in a wraparound library and it looks even better than I had imagined! He was able to take a number of existing bookcases and incorporate them with such craft and finesse that the finished product looks as though it was built entirely from scratch. There were numerous challenges and he came up with wonderful solutions for all the myriad issues. When I realized close to the end of the project that I had made a design mistake, he was gracious about the need to rip out some of his work and fixed the problem quickly and with great expertise. Michael is not only creative and talented, but also trustworthy, reliable, courteous, and considerate. He and his wonderful assistant Tom did everything they could to minimize the inevitable saw dust and sanding debris from invading the rest of my house. Mike built two beautiful oak radiator covers for us this past January. All I can say is that the many positive reviews about him are accurate. He is a perfectionist and is honest (very rare qualities these days). In fact, there was a minor mix-up regarding the finish. Mike worked very hard to deliver the boxes to us within days of the original date. Another big plus was that he treated my family with total respect during the entire process. I own a condo in JP but live out of state. Michael has been a godsend for me. He can do almost ANYTHING, but if he isn't the most cost effective person for the job he will let you know. His fine carpentry is really stunning but I have used him mostly for general carpentry and repairs.
