Love this place! I discovered it because they are a CSA pickup location for Crown Hill Farm, and I keep returning for the extras. In addition to mushrooms, they carry local maple syrup, honey, eggs, fire cider, etc. They also have outstanding brownies. Parking is in a shared lot (also worth a stop at Crenshaw's Chicken & Waffles next door). Staff is always friendly and helpful. They have an adorable and friendly shop cat. This little place is well worth adding to your regular stops for shopping local. read more

I've visited Flat 12 at several different farmers' markets around the area, but this was my first visit to their actual store. It's a little harder to find a farmer's market in January! I LOVE their mushrooms! But, they've also introduced me to their freeze-dried mushrooms. We're just finishing off a bag of the oyster mushrooms, so I knew we needed more. I'm totally amazed at how good they taste after you soak them in water for about 20 minutes. It's so nice to have them in the house for those unplanned meals that need mushrooms, and you have none in the frig. We purchased a bag of the assorted mushrooms on this visit. Flat #12 Mushrooms located in the popular Chandler Street district has all of your mushroom needs from various types of mushrooms for any recipe, lions maine powder, ingredient kits for mushroom soup, and mushroom hot chaga lattes! The owner Robbie is very friendly and we just went back for the second time to buy more lions maine (type of cool mushroom) powder for a Christmas gift. We've been adding it in the coffee grounds and it has many health benefits. I feel like it starts my day off on the right foot and I can focus better. All of these mushrooms are grown by Robbie the owner. You can taste the difference in the freshness for sure. I just cut up some golden Pearl mushrooms and threw them in an egg scramble with fresh herbs this morning and it was delicious. I have purchased from Flat 12 in the past but only at farmers markets. On the day I was at the Chandler Street Market I stopped in to their store. I purchased their variety pack of dehydrated mushrooms. Their mushrooms rehydrate very well thus making them available anytime. I just simply take out what I need as I need it. They are also a supplier to many local business. When businesses use their mushrooms they usually have it indicated on their menu that they use Flat 12 mushrooms. I recommend stopping their to see their selection. read more

Then you may be aching the local News one morning and see a story about Flat 12 Mushrooms. And you'll relize other need to know too. Not just mushrooms! They work with others to offer additional products and they make delicious snacks with their mushrooms, like mushroom quiche or batter dipped mushroom fries. Have bought oyster and other mushrooms fresh at the Bidwell farmer's market and at their location on Chandler. In season, they have foraged mushrooms of lots of different kinds. This past weekend I got some fresh chestnut mushrooms and used them to make a mushroom bourguignon. Fresh mushrooms are a little pricey, but a wonderful treat every so often! read more

Still referring to EA Farmers Market for my point of purchase. I don't know what to say other than I can't get enough of these fungi jewels. I hated all things mushrooms growing up. My mother would saute 'shrooms to make herself a "shroom sammie. Enough to make me leave to visit friends. The scent to me at that time was disgusting. Fast forward a few years, I tried one. An eye opening experience. LOVED the taste and texture!!!! Going back to Flat 12. I literally must stop myself from visiting. The varietal mushrooms are freaking fantastic! Most are grown indoors, the chanterelles are locally foraged. YES! Two weeks ago I purchased the shitake. Sauteed in butter - unbelievable! Today I have some Oyster and Chanterelle. Currently on the stove. The mushrooms are not cheap. They are however worth every penny spent. My mushrooms call. Time to eat. read more

This review is for the new Chandler St. location (parking lot is on Grote St.) This was my first time buying mushrooms from Flat #12. I placed my order online and requested curbside pickup. I added farm fresh eggs, and some veggies to my order because they have items like veggies, beans, and CSA shares available from their partners. I was able to select a date and time for pickup, and when the time arrived I drove to the back door and called to say I was there. Someone brought out my order right away and placed it in the car. The whole process was as smooth as silk! I can't wait to order again. The mushrooms were fantastic and I can't wait to try more varieties. read more

This is a great place to pick up fresh mushrooms or a variety of different tinctures, but I go for the amazing mushroom coffee and the pastries. The savory boreks and falafel cups are full of flavor. The scones are the moistest most flavorful scones I've ever tasted. read more

Flat #12 is one of the gems of Chandler Street and a must try, especially if you like mushrooms- everything has mushrooms in it! Lydia, the baker of Flat #12, is incredibly talented and makes delicious pastries, such as galettes, börek, and scones. I visit them every weekend for the börek, which are absolutely amazing. I'm incredibly thankful for them since I cannot find Turkish pastries anywhere else in the city. Lydia has made both cheese and potato börek. I've worked and traveled in Turkey for years and they taste just like Turkey! The galettes are also delightful but I suggest eating them the day you buy them. The scones are tasty and have been made in pumpkin latte and blueberry. Be sure to grab a cup of their mushroom infused coffee before you leave because it will keep you energized throughout the day. And if you visit in the winter, check out their chagalatte- you can make it a mocha if you want. I cannot recommend flat #12 enough. read more

The hours are from 9-2 which is nice because there isn't a big rush to get there early. It's on the weekend and sometimes sleeping in takes presidence lol. However, some vendors sell out or may not stay the full length of the market so I would reccomend going early at least once. All of the vendors are spaced apart, there are covid rules in effect and it feels very safe. I was comfortable during both of my visits and I would gladly return.

They have completely non-plastic to go cups which are unique looking and we loved the extra effort they put into sustainability.
