Broccoli and Cheddar, Spinach and Feta and Traditional

Since The Bloom & Rose opened they have continued to create more delicious flavors to add to their repertoire! Today along with some of my favorites , Smoked Onion and Farmer's Cheese and Spinach Feta, they added some new flavors. Kasha, Hot Noddle and Chicken Mofongo are some of those. The Kasha is a Russian Buckwheat with sweet peas, stock and dried mushrooms. Absolutely delicious!! The Hot Noodle is sweet potato noodles ,spicy soy broth and lots of veggies. And it's very spicy!! I didn't try the Chicken Mofongo sorry guys I'm a vegetarian! But everything they they make is amazing so I'm sure that is too. They also started an on line rewards program that allows you to collect "roses" for every purchase you make and you earn free knishes. I've filled up several of the original stamp paper cards so I'm not likely to loose the new system like I could the paper cards!! If you can't make it to their kitchen at the Chandler Street location, you can also buy them on line and at the Buffalo Artisan Food Traders on Sheridan Dr and Bailey. They also have smoked egg salad by the pint or in a sandwich and Matzo ball soup now! It's definitely fun to stop by and see Bearcat or Zach in the kitchen if you get a chance.

I've never heard of knishes before yesterday when I had a traditional one ($4). The owner gave a good explanation of them and though I forgot to take a picture it was a really good. You'll have to look it up to get a better sense of what they are. I also got some of the smoked egg salad ($5 for 8oz). That was just okay. I seasoned it up a bit when I got home to my taste preference.

Corned beef Reubens (mostly eaten already). Oops!

In a sea of underwhelming food, The Bloom & Rose came through. Wow! We were visiting our friend in Buffalo, and she thought we should go to the Broadway Market to check out the scene. After making one full round, I had pierogis on my mind, but then I saw a sign advertising knishes. As a huge fan of Yonah Schimmel on the LES, I headed on over thinking I'd try a knish, but then I saw the most delicious looking sandwich on display at their space and decided I needed to eat it - a corned beef reuben. It did NOT disappoint. This was one of the best reubens I've had in my life, if not the absolute best. The corned beef was delectable, the bread delicious and buttery, and the sauerkraut amazing. I only wish there would have been more sauerkraut. But I'll tell you that my friends, who had stayed behind in the pierogi line, devoured half of my sandwich and wished that they'd ordered my sandwich instead. Do your tastebuds a solid, and try this place out immediately!

Knishes - sold frozen with a select few ready-to-eat

The traditional (potato filling, topped with everything bagel spice) and spinach and feta knish are always available, so if you are interested in another flavor, don't sleep on it. When I was there for the Chandler Street Winter Market on Saturday, there were both frozen and warm knishes.  Not all were available ready-to-eat, but there was a good variety if you were looking to have one right away.  (FYI - The cooking directions are right on each individually packaged knish). There was a deal for buy 3, get $2 off, so of course I took advantage of it.  I bought the Smoked Onion & Farmer's Cheese, Spinach & Feta, and Corned Beef.  Each one is the size of a small biscuit.  The flavors were well-pronounced and the soft texture of the dough made them addictive.  The Smoked Onion & Farmer's Cheese was my favorite. The owner also handed me a rewards card.  For every knish you buy you get a stamp, and once you have ten stamps you get a free one. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for Bloom & Rose at local farmer's markets this summer.  The owner mentioned doing pop-ups in the North and South towns (Tonawanda, Hamburg, etc.).

    A variety of Knish!

Incredible handmade food, made from real chefs. Unique and diverse flavors; you can't go wrong with anything here- it's all fantastic! I was just in NYC two weeks ago, and the knish and pastrami here exceeded anything from the Big Apple! Buffalo's The Bloom & Rose for the win!

What are your hours in the Chandler Street building?

Facebook says 8am-8 Saturdays but when we were there he told us they were going to be there 8-7 on Saturdays and we there after 2pm. But I would definitely check before going after 2 pm.

Getting there just after 1PM on a Monday there was a line inside, to the door to place orders... the wait afterwards was about 10 minutes. I love bologna sandwiches and I also really enjoy a nice beef on Weck, so I was happy they offered a mini beef sandwich, still on kummelweck, which I got along with their bologna sandwich with provolone, onions, and peppers on it. The bologna sandwich was flame grilled and tasted excellent! I added jalapeños to it for a little kick, as well as some mayo and that made the sandwich really tasty! I started with their split pea soup - It was really good! It had big chunks of smokey, flavorful ham in it and the texture was thick and the flavor was great! I also tried a side of their mustard potato salad and it was decent, but I think it had pimentos or pickles in it, which I don't prefer. Last up - That mini beef sandwich - AWESOME! The bun really added the excellent flavor you'd expect from having the meat on that type of roll. The beef was tender and so flavorful! They also have horseradish on the tables, so I added a bunch of it and that really made the flavor pop! Service was excellent and very friendly here. I'd highly recommend stopping in!

From the moment you walk in, you get that clean, nostalgic 60s vibe--simple, welcoming, and focused on what matters: great food. The counter service is quick and friendly, and you can actually watch them slice the beef fresh right in front of you. I ordered the famous beef on weck, and it did NOT disappoint. The hand carved beef was tender, juicy, and piled high on a perfectly salted kummelweck roll. Add a little horseradish and au jus, and it's easily one of the best sandwiches in the area. The crispy waffle fries were the perfect side--golden, crunchy, and seasoned just right. Everything tasted fresh and made with care. Between the quality of the food, the spotless dining area, and the old-school charm, this place absolutely earns five stars. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town.
