The third time I hired Eric H, to rip up some carpeting, WAS A BIG MISTAKE!!!!! ****DO NOT TAKE YOUR EYES OFF OF HIM.**** He found & "took " my rifle and Samurai sword given to me by my late uncle who served in WWll. These items meant a lot to me and I am sick over this as is everyone else in my family!!! He actually told the police that I didn't have $60 and "bartered" these 2 items as payment and showed them a receipt UNSIGNED by me. ERIC, I WANT MY STUFF BACK!!!! There is a lot of sentimental value to them. THEY ARE MINE!!!! YOU "TOOK" THEM!!! I paid you your $ and you know it!!! I WANT MY RIFLE AND SWORD BACK!!!! HOW DARE YOU TAKE WHAT ISN'T YOURS!!!! I TRUSTED YOU!!! PLEASE DO THE RIGHT THING AND RETURN MY STUFF!!!! I waited a month before posting any negative comment. ***In answer to your response eric... The items you took without permission were from my late uncle not my ex!! Family heirlooms!!! I never offered those items to you.. obviously you placed them in a piece of rolled up carpet.. which you were stacking in front of the garage. At 1 point you said you were going to your truck... which is when you obviously put the carpet roll with my items in your vehicle. You told the police I did not have 60 dollars?? And bartered those 2 items???The print-out from my checkbook proves otherwise. AGAIN... I TRUSTED YOU. YOU TOOK SOMETHING THAT DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU!!! Growing up in the less-than-desirable areas of New York City, I am naturally paranoid and somewhat dis-trusting. So when it comes to moving, it's only natural for me to feel uneasy when my life's possessions are placed in the trusting hands of strangers. I found Flat Rate Labor on Craigslist, and that by itself raised some flags (I've been burned on CL in the past with apartment rentals). But after doing some research both online and through the telephone (I called previous customers listed as references), I took the plunge and committed to having Flat Rate Labor move my belongings. Granted it was a short 3 mile move from Bella Vista to University City, but Eric (the head honcho) and his employee showed up 15 minutes early to conduct a strategy session (i.e. to determine the order in which to load the truck I rented). The total time it took to load and unload a 26 foot truck filled to capacity took slightly over 3 hours, but Eric only charged me for 3. Seeing how he also far surpassed my expectations on beating the time restrictions on elevator usage (apartment rules), I was VERY impressed with the professionalism, speed, and courtesy of Flat Rate Labor. Furniture was wrapped in protective cloths, dollies and handtrucks were used to transport heavy items, and care was used when loading the truck (i.e. not just tossing boxes around). Eric, Mari and their son Chris are as good as it gets! They were responsive, efficient, and very polite. I can't express how impressed I am with their service and will absolutely hire them again if the need arises. We had a tree (it's truly a large weed, native to the Fishtown/Port Richmond area) fall in our already weed-infested backyard, so I reached out to Eric and he responded within a few hours to my email. They were able to come the next day and did an incredible job clearing out the weeds and debris from the backyard. They also cut many of the weeds growing around our fence in the side yard, and they even offered to weed whack the front of the house and the sidewalk free of charge! They removed some old broken patio furniture as well. They did a beautiful job and even set up the newer patio furniture that had been unused until now, such a nice surprise. My boyfriend & I were moving out of our apartment in East Falls that had a little backyard space that we just lost to the weeds over the hot summer & the tons of rain. I was on yelp & saw nothing but glowing reviews for Flat Rate Labor, so I asked for a quote. Once I emailed Eric our work area, he gave us a price & was kind enough to bump a job that could wait so we could have this done before our lease ended and before Labor Day! I have to say, we are pleased with the job that was done. The exceeded our expectations and more! They got rid of the excessive overgrowth, trimmed and took out one tree that was encroaching on the roof, and took care of what was overhanging on to the sidewalk so it was not in anyone's way. I first contacted Eric at Flat Rate Labor to remove some trash I had after moving out of my apartment. He was able to meet me and remove the junk within 20 minutes! He charged me such a fair price for it as well. I was so pleased with his work that I called him a few days later. I bought a sofa off craigslist and he came and loaded the sofa into his truck and brought it up the stairs for me in my new place. He was careful with my sofa and provided blankets to ensure it stayed clean. Eric is incredibly kind, professional, and humble, which is what I like the most about him. He does such a good job and unlike a lot of people, is also fair in prices. I was quoted over $250 for the sofa from moving companies. He came in and did it for less than half that. Now I have hired movers before and the professional ones who charge an arm and a leg and even then have ended up with a job that was at best - mediocre. When my friend and I needed to move, we found Eric and his crew on CL. They are the best. We were completely happy with the way they did the job. They were careful with our things, on time and quick. Other than doing a great job, they are also really great people who made the entire process so stress free and easy. They even went up one more flight of stairs for us which was not in the original plan. They also bring 4 wheel and two wheel dollies and packing blankets. Found Flat Rate Labor, Inc via Craigslis. Their website and phone conversation convinced me to hire them. They carry their own insurance, a big factor if anyone comes on to your property to work. Eric and his associate arrived on time and worked the full contractual time. They worked hard, and when the initial job was finished, they asked for more work to fulfill the time promised. Wow, they were careful, cleaned up any mess, and did an excellent job. A first for them, they moved huge amounts of dirt to help me create vegetable and flower beds. This was pure labor and I certainly hired the right company. In fact, the neighbor asked for their card. Very, very impressed as it is hard to find companies that do what they say they will do, and do it so well. I will hire them again when the need arises. read more

Flat Rate Labor has been a Godsend. My husband and I have had multiple needs and Flat Rate has taken the ball and run with it. I have need demolition before a carpet installation, packing and moving of a 3 bedroom townhome and they have not flinched at the tasks! I am comfortable with them in my home as a mother with 2 small children, I am not one to welcome workers into my home arbitrarily. In a difficult economy they are completely affordable and when the work for the day was completed, I had absolutely no problem paying their reasonable rate because being able to exhale is priceless. OMG! Where do I start - Eric and Mari are absolute miracle workers! They came to clean out and straighten up our garage. Betweens kids moving in and out and college stuff still in the garage they were able to dispose of the junk! Eric and Mari also organized our holiday decorations and found our garage floor that was MIA for some time! They even moved our outside fridge and freezer to a more strategic place in the garage - no more climbing over kids sports equipment . Yelp is a wealth of info, and it paid off when I decided to use these guys to help me load & unload my truck, a few months ago.
