Randomly picked this spot out of convenience in between errands in Annapolis and it worked out really well. Got my feet and stride assessed, got shoe recommendations according to my requests, and all without being pushed into anything. Ty was very professional and even offered some training advice, which have found some running store employees to be really stingy with if you aren't paying for coaching. There are a few good salespeople at the store, but the bad ones reminded me that they are simply that and not good customer service folk. The bad ones rely heavily on the faulty technology that do not ever replace the needs of longtime runners who know their shoe needs-- runners, yes, who are looking for running shoes, unlike "most people who wear the shoes all day for sitting and light walking." Great service. I was surprised, given some other reviews. Here's my story. I'm getting serious about running and investing the time and money in shoes that minimize the risk of injury and maximize comfort/performance. I visited another local running store and had a pleasant experience, but the technology and expertise were lacking, yet I received information that I wasn't interested in. @FleetFeet, there was no wait time, a practical analysis of my running gait and foot, and the ability to answer technical questions. I can't recommend this place highly enough. James was a huge help getting me the shoes I need. This is the best shoe store in Annapolis.

I went in to get shoes for a upcoming trip that would require a lot of walking on July 3rd. They needed to be ordered and I was assured they would arrive by July 14th, but probably before that date. However, when I called to inquire on the July 12th-I was told the owners were out of town and did not order them for a few days after my initial order date and they would look into it and call me back on Sunday-they did not. I called again today- the 14th as I am leaving tomorrow-they do not have them. The owner/manager is once again on vacation so there was not someone to speak to. I now have to go find a pair of shoes and will certainly be returning these shoes for a full refund once they actually come in and no longer shopping here. Terrible customer service! Excellent experience every time. So today I was returning a pair of sneakers without a receipt, but because I am in the system the staff member was able to get my receipt, and give me store credit (because there was visible wear on the bottoms - to be fair my husband tried them at home but had too much pain in them). But hey store credit - perfect! Cause we still need sneakers! And I happen to need a pair, so I ended up getting my own set while I was there. I got a set of Brooks instead of a recommended Rebook only because the toe box was a bit to small. The fitting system is great, you get very personalized care here. They will tell you all about your foot and what type of shoe you should be in. The staff was super nice. They are open every day at 10. The changing rooms and restrooms are not open due to COVID. There is hand sanitizer, and you have to use their socks to try shoes on so that you are not putting your dirty feet in all the shoes! Great experience, great staff, I will be back for more! Be warned the store can get busy! But it's worth that personal attention. I was in and out in 30 minutes for my return and shoe try on and purchase. Bottom Line: An excellent place to buy running shoes. I'm not a huge runner, in fact, I'm more of a casual jogger and an occasional wogger, but I still feel it is super important to have superb fitting footwear for high impact activities. When I noticed my current pair of shoes were embarrassingly worn I headed to Fleet Feet based on Yelp reviews. Chris helped me pick out a new pair of Brooks shoes as well as inserts. Just like the good old days he put the shoes on my feet, laced them up, etc. He also trimmed my inserts for me. I kept him quite busy while I was there and he was extremely helpful, patient and never judging about my wide feet, plantar fasciitis, probably bad running posture, etc. The overall service he provided is a rarity in today's world and is absolutely exemplary for what excellent service is. To ensure the proper fit I tried on several pairs of shoes and did a little jog around the store. I definitely recommend doing so, or at least walking around the store, if that is how you plan to use them. I haven't priced running shoes in a while so perhaps you pay a premium at Fleet Feet but it's absolutely worth it. I'd rather pay a little more for good shoes than pay co-pays for doctors' visits and lots of money for OTC medicines to relieve knee and hip issues. Seriously, it's so worth it. Then we went and looked at other reviews and apparently many, many others had the same exact experience I did.)*** I believe the store stocks a decent line of running shoes however two things that frustrate me about this store. For one, the hours are awful...almost designed for a stay at home spouse who can visit in between lunching with friends and afternoon coffee breaks. For real people with a job, store hours are not helpful. Service - I showed up at 4:45 with two patrons and two employees. Stood with shoes in my hand waiting to try them on with my daughter and they continued focusing on the one customer they had. They avoided eye contact at all costs. After waiting 15 min with no mention or a "hello" or anything, we popped next door for some ice cream. (Don't tell my wife) We came back at 5:10 and they informed us that they closed at 5:00. Incredible. This was a Thursday - WTF (that's a "why the...) would they close that early on a Thursday. They weren't giving eye contact earlier because they really didn't want to do the extra work and possibly stay a little later. Or at least that is my feeling. 1) You can return shoes up to 60 days w original packaging and receipt. 2) This store asks you to put on their freshly washed socks to try on shoes 3) They can scan your feet at this location but can't save it. Other locations I've visited allow the scan to be saved for future reference. I have been to this store several times. The first time I went in was pre-covid and I had the MOST amazing time with the female owner, Marty. Not only was it educational, but she was so nice and made the whole experience more fun than a chore of finding new sneakers for my weird feet! If I could stop my review there I would and it would be a 5 star review. The next time I went in was during Covid and I was looking to replace my indoor exercise sneakers. The male owner helped me this time and I couldn't have had a more different feeling when I left the store- in short, he is just not a people person. Understandably they didn't have my size and had to order it in which was fine. But after almost two weeks I called to get an update and when he answered, I was treated like I was the biggest inconvenience ever and not because the store sounded busy. I actually apologized TO HIM! I felt so uncomfortable! A customer shouldn't have to feel this way!! When my shoes were finally in, I had yet another experience with the male owner and he just made me feel so unwelcome. I was in last weekend with my boyfriend who was picking out shoes this time- again I keep hoping for Marty! We didn't have Marty but we had an excellent lady who was very well trained and knew exactly what she was talking about. During the process my boyfriend asked if he could jog on the sidewalk in the shoes to see which ones felt the best- we have both been to different fleet feet's before we moved here and this is a very normal request- but I hear the male owner say "Um, where is that guy going?" And "I don't like that" to the young lady at the cash register. Loudly enough for the entire store to hear. Where is Marty?! She is a 10/5 star woman! She was absolutely amazing when I worked with her. Her husband is awful! He is so unwelcoming and quite frankly rude! I keep going into the store hoping that I'll see Marty but it's always him now and he is terrible! Honestly he isn't even worthy of a star, the stars that are left after he has made my experience uncomfortable are for her; my overall experience. I flew in from Seattle to visit this store I heard good things about. It was a little busy when I walked in, so I got on the wait list. My fiancé was with me and she was buying shoes that day. She was after me on the list. 20 mins later and I got called. The employee I got asked me how he could help. I told him this was my first time in this store and I was interested and getting measured real quick with their foot ID technology. He looked at me and said, "Are you buying shoes today?" I paused, and thought to myself, well that kinda depends on you, doesn't it? I'm a customer and I want to see what you can offer me. I replied, "I'm not sure yet. It depends on what happens next." He answered, "Well there are a lot of people waiting today and if you aren't serious about buying shoes today, we can put you toward the bottom of the list and you can go grab a bubble tea and we could have more time for you later. This is a business we are trying to run." I said, "Okay sir, have a nice day." He then called my fiancé's name, and she replied, "I was definitely going to buy shoes today, but now I'm definitely not." We walked out. I genuinely would have considered myself a returning future customer. But after that interaction, I will not be interested in ever returning to this "business." For her birthday, I took my girlfriend to Fleet Feet Annapolis to buy running shoes, insoles, and a whole gamut of accessories for both her and myself. Seeing that all the store associates were busy helping other patrons, we signed in and patiently waited for approximately 15 minutes while perusing the inventory. After several new shoppers entered the store, the female sales associate who had previously walked right by us numerous times without saying anything, abruptly announced that the store was beyond capacity and everyone who is not being helped would need to wait outside. To be frank, her tone was rude and slightly condescending for whatever reason. She then pointed to us and said "Yes, that means you two. Outside. It's not my rules--it's Fleet Feet policy." I consider myself to be a rather patient and sensible person, so under normal circumstances, this request--had it been delivered with an ounce of respect for the shopper--wouldn't have caused any heartburn for me or my significant other. Further, had there been any signage or anything to indicate what said capacity would be, I would have been more than happy to obey the rules. But after waiting for 15-20 minutes without any assistance, only to be met with this type of unwarranted hostility, we walked out as requested and went straight to our car. I would have been happy to give them my $4 - 500 worth of business, but not with that type of customer service--I will take it elsewhere. I will not be returning to this location and completely understand why there's so many other reviews damning this store. Given the age of Amazon, places like Fleet Feet are a dying breed and without advocating for the customer, I fully expect for this store to be closing in on extinction quite soon. read more

My family has been shopping here for years. However, on my visit yesterday the staff was unbelievably rude. They didn't acknowledge me when I came in or while I was waiting. They gave my 2yo and 4yo nasty looks, didn't acknowledge them, etc. the only person to acknowledge us was the customer being waited on. After waiting a while I asked that my 2yo be allowed to use the restroom bc she had to pee, she is 2yo! I was given an eye roll by the staff and told to go next door. When I brought this to the owners attention (Scott) he told me that his employees state that my children touched the foot iPad and lights on the black mat, like that makes it okay for them to treat us horribly and have a 2yo urinate on herself bc adults are too powerful to let a child use a toilet. I had such a wonderful and personalized experience with Chris, and left with the perfect arch support inserts and new shoes. For the non runner, this may be an okay running shoe store to visit. I thought I was going to a running shoe specialty shop and instead I found myself in a Footlocker like box store! The high-tech evaluation process was significantly flawed and bad technology does not replace good customer service experts who know running and shoes. The customer service representative that waited on me did not understand different aspects of shoes, including stability and the weight of runners. I had to actually show the customer service rep the characteristics of the shoes that she was selling, from the ASICS website. The selection of shoes and brands was limited. I guess I was spoiled by my specialty running shoe shop in Pennsylvania. So my advice to experience runners, don't waste your time going to this particular site and by inference, I would not visit any of the stores in this franchise/chain, but rather just get my running shoes online. read more

I went this afternoon with my husband and my son. Between James, Kathleen and Jennifer, and their tag teaming during an obviously extremely busy time when the 3 were being pulled in multiple directions during our visit, the 3 of us received proper service. When one was pulled, the other filled in, and when one was training, they pulled shoes so we could wait for detail. Amazing service. I was helped instantly from a very nice sales rep, with my wife left waiting for almost half an hr. At one point the ref asked two people to help her get fitted, and both replied, no, but sat talking at the front desk. Can't say that my wife received excellent service. She ordered a pair of Brooks, paid for them and was told that they would take a while to arrive. This was in late August so fine her expectations were appropriately managed. The shoes arrived on 9/13 however she was not notified until 9/25. They had multiple ways to contact her. Once she was contacted it was because they were inquiring if she still wanted them because they were going to sell them to another customer. They said she had not paid for them and she replied "Au contraire" I have a receipt in my wallet. It turns out that they have 3 accounts under her name and they just figured it out. The lady she spoke with was apologetic but by the time she arrived that person had left and she got some serious attitude from the person minding the store when she tried to explain the 3 account issue. "Well I don't know anything about that" was his response when it should have been something like "I am unfamiliar with that matter however I will try to help you get to the bottom of the matter. I told her she should consider shopping elsewhere. She said "But I like their shoes." I asked if she really thought that Fleet Feet is the only Brooks dealer in the area? I encounter food service workers and retail employees and in large part they are pleasant, effective, friendly and mostly on the ball. Can't say that about Annapolis Fleet Feet. read more

I agree with several individuals that have raised the same concern regarding customer service. While Carrie (sp?) was very helpful in assisting me search for the perfect shoe, the older man (short stature with white hair) that was working with her lacks professionalism and customer service. He was rude, and obnoxious and extremely unhelpful when a question was asked of him. Someone recommended this place to my wife so I took my daughter here to get actual running shoes (Mizuno with pronation control). She made her first high school sports team (JV) but was getting shin splints from the low quality shoes she was using (cheap Adidas). The process of analyzing the feet was very helpful and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I ended up buying a new pair of running shoes (on cloud) as well and when we got home I sent my wife to also get a new pair (Brooks). Too few people realize that a lot of back problems and other joint pains can be prevented by running with good shoes. read more

Jen was absolutely amazing! She was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what I needed. I was in a bad car accident a few months ago and have not been able to run since then. Jen was able to tell which leg hurt the most and what tools would help take some pressure off that injury so I could get back to running. Truly Bizarre!!!! I walked in on a Saturday morning. For over a half hour I was utterly ignored by all 4 of the staff members. No one greeted me , smiled, or even acknowledged my presence. When I tried to make eye contact their eyes averted mine like I was deformed. It was AWFUL!!! I haven't left a review before, but I feel compelled to after this horrible experience. The staff were assisting people, however when another customer came in after me and made a purchase they were helped at the register. So I got in line and asked if I knew what I wanted could I just buy it? The woman at the register coldly asked me if I signed in despite me being the only other customer in the shop who hadn't been helped. Not sure what is up with this place, but it was a strange and sad experience. I want to warn others to not politely wait around like I did and be made to feel less than worthy. I had never been there before and I will never go there again! read more

Excellent Customer service! I don't have much more to add to the other reviews but when it comes down to it, Fleet Feet has the other running stores beat in customer service. I have gotten there late in the day near their closing time and they STILL took an extra 20 min to helped me choose a pair of shoes without being pushy. I was impressed, most people would just tell me to come back tomorrow. Their staff are very knowledgeable and will help you find a shoe that will fit your running issues. Prices are not bad, you're looking at about $100/pair of running shoes. They also have sandals and Vibram Five Fingers for you bare foot runners that don't mind stepping on rocks. If you are a repeat customer they track your purchases and send you a gift certificate for $25 for every $250 you spend. That's like free socks! Always cool. Great customer service and rewards for shopping there why not? They also do organized run's and training. I can't comment on that because their schedules don't work with mine, but I hope to be boring and have a regular schedule to be able to do a an organized run with them. read more

This place is just awesome! I've never had better customer service at a fitness shoe store and here is why: You go in and get a personal sales person to find the right shoe for your feet. They really understand that everyone's foot is different! So you take of your shoes and socks and they don't just measure your foot, the notice how it bends, how you stand, and what your arches are like. They then pick out a shoe they think will be best for you and ask you to run or walk around the store. Yeah, you'll feel like an idiot but they are watching how your legs, ankles, and feet all work together. The first time I was here I must have spent over 40 minutes trying on countless shoes and in soles and running around the store. But, I have found my perfect pair and have been re purchasing that same shoe ever since. But now, I order the shoe online or get it at a discount shoe store, because they do charge a little extra here. But, I charge that up to the great customer service. I no longer get horrible shin splints from running thanks to Fleet Feet! read more

I stopped in to look while I was running by one day and it was a neat little store. They offer custom fit running shoes (never buy a pair unless you're fitted for it!) and offer a military discount. They were busy with the two customers in the store so decided I would come back another time but never made it back. I always forget about Fleet Feet because I often gravitate towards the flashy colored clothing and nice store layout of Charm City Run. But don't forget about them, it's definitely worth a stop. read more

I have shopped at fleet feet for several pairs of running shoes and the service has been great, but I called the store(Annapolis) yesterday and again today for assistance and the gentleman was very curt and borderline rude. Unfortunately, the store did not carry my size and I needed assistance with locating the field for entering a $15 credit. I understand that the store clerk may not receive the credit for an online sale or be able to assist with ordering online (I was told "You need to call HQ", but the tone and borderline rude response are likely not what Fleet Feet would appreciate representing their organization. read more

Went to Annapolis store today and Katie was my salesperson. She gave me a test for size and stability. The technology for the test did not work! She recommended the Brooks Adeniline shoe for stability in white since her mother had those sneakers. I do not like white sneakers! I had to ask if they had the Ghost style in my size which I told her about when I first entered the store. She finally brought them out. Those are the sneakers I bought. i know it is a challenge to meet customers expectations but a more positive approach to customers would be greatly appreciated! read more

Had a good experience here finding a comfortable pair of running shoes - and more importantly insoles - for my daughter who is hard to fit and has some joint challenges. Good selection of running shoes and the foot scanner thing is pretty cool. The head employee there, not sure of his name - older guy with gray hair and a Reebok tattoo, provided me with the most unfriendly customer service I've ever experienced at a retail store. This guy treated me like I had insulted his mother and was there to vandalize the place or something. I was in a good mood, had a couple honest questions about my running shoes, and was there looking to try on and buy new ones but I felt so uncomfortable from this guy's attitude I just left. I bought a pair of running shoes on September 12, 2020 at the Fleet Feet store in Annapolis, Maryland. The staff was friendly and welcoming. However, after wearing the shoes twice they hurt my feet so I decided to exchange it for another brand I had previously fitted on September 17, 2020. This time I got a man who said he was the owner. He was extremely rude from the moment I entered the store. After I tried on the new shoe (which was more expensive) he wanted my assurance that I would be happy with this shoe and offered me a store credit if I wasn't positive to. I told him I came to exchange and asked what was happening because my experience with the ladies on Saturday was very pleasant, he responded "well today you got me". While I went in to exchange the shoe, if he hadn't insisted he could not refund my money because I wore it twice, I would have taken my money back. I am so disappointed here. Last year, I had purchased a pair of Hoka's at this store only to find out that I was sized wrong, put in the wrong shoe, and with the wrong inserts. I gave them another chance in June and was measured and had the scan done. $185.50 later, I left with different inserts and a pair of Brooks. While I loved the way the Brooks fit, 2 1/2 months later I had extremely unusual wear on the bottoms to the point of there being almost a huge hole. When I brought them in with my receipt, the employee was surprised and said that is highly unusual and may be a defect. She was very pleasant and got the owner to see what he would do. This is where things went wrong. He asked me what I expected him to do when I was well past my return date (actually only 2 weeks). And said that the worn tread is highly unusual and could mean I am in the wrong shoe. Well.....I was fitted and placed in the shoe there, so shouldn't he help me find a solution here. He plainly and without any regret told me there was nothing he could do and I should try and contact Brooks. So their "commitment to helping you find the proper FIT for your running shoes" and the owner's supposed "strong customer service and management background" has not been my experience at ALL. I have basically just flushed $120 for the shoe down the toilet and am not even able to wear them to the grocery store. read more
