We came here on Saturday August 30th, we were visiting from Montreal and happened to be staying in the area. My boyfriend was shopping for a pair of supportive walking shoes. I read some reviews prior to coming that this place was specialized in running footwear so imagined it would be ideal for us. We were so pleased with the service and technology used here to assess your needs. They have a machine that scans your feet and renders a 3D image, they are able to measure your exact size, your pressure point areas, instep, arch, etc and recommend shoes that would be a good fit for your needs. I've never seen something so detailed and precise - we do not have this type of technology in any store back home. We were dealing with a female employee that day who was extremely helpful, went above and beyond to assist us and treated us with the most care in a retail setting l that we've possibly ever had. I unfortunately did not get her name, but she mentioned she was also a teacher. So if you happen to be reading this and know who you are - thank you again, so much! The employee even went so far as to put the shoes on for us, tie the laces and everything. This really amazed us. Once we could not find the color we wanted, she even helped us look at other surrounding stores for more options. We did not buy anything that day, but really appreciated the level of care and expertise - this store is really the ideal place to come get supportive shoes whether you are running or just walking on a day to day basis. They sell lots of insoles and other types of running gear that is suited for someone who wants specialized apparel. Highly recommend Feet Fleet - just make sure you take the time to get your analysis done and try on different footwear, this will be a different experience compared to a regular shoe store. read more

I have always loved the attention and customer service you get at Fleet Feet Clay, NY! You pay a little more but it is totally worth it! Safety is at a premium at FF. You make an appointment, are met at the door by 1 employee with an alcohol squirt, are seated and then are met by another employee to tent to your needs. After the appointment another associate goes directly to where your appointment was and wipes everything down and cleans other pairs of shoes and where you had been sitting. Sean was the associate that listened to my preferences in footwear and what I was looking to purchase. He also addressed concerns about mountain climbing footwear and was able to set up the next visit as I prepare for spring climbing. Sean gave me two options: a pair that is the new version of what he and I both had on and another option that was on sale. He showed me the new features of the shoes we were wearing and in a timely fashion, we tried both on and I was able take a little walk. I went with option 1 and am very happy with the purchase: a red pair of sneakers that were the updated version of the sneaker I had worn on many hikes around Onondaga Lake and at the gym. Sean heard me when I said I wanted some color with this purchase and my previous visit last year had done a great job determining the style of shoe and sizing that I am happy with. I was not impressed by the store at all the options in store were very little and the color choices were awful.

Bought sneakers here a couple times now. I've never been to their DeWitt location, but hear it is bigger. This location is just a lot more convenient for me.Clean store and they are excellent at what they do. There sales staff will really take the time to find an excellent match for you. They never seem to be in a rush with you. They will look at your stride, your instep, etc. They even have this new machine that you stand on barefoot that maps out your feet. Sneakers are pricey at $120 but it's worth it to have a good shoe to prevent issues with your feet or footwear. Purchasing their insoles for me is a must. My part-time job is all standing and, being overweight, I find these help me. Their frequent buyer program gave me $30 off this visit. Peace of mind that I have the right shoe for me, is really worth it. read more

This was my first time going to a Fleet Feet and had a terrible experience. I left the store feeling very self conscious and aggravated with the help I received. I am a larger person on the weight loss journey. I am very active and have started back running with intentions of running my first half marathon this year. Upon entering the store, the salesperson on the floor was helping another customer (no big deal, i was in no hurry and was willing to wait). Finally a salesperson came out of the back and asked if I needed help. After explaining that I would like to be evaluated for a pair of shoes, she quickly watched my walk and told me I needed a certain style. She never once asked me my goals, what the shoes would be used for, or anything. I felt as if she looked at me as a joke due to my size. I told her some issues I was having with my current shoes. She really didn't have much to say or even provide any insight as to why I was having the problems. After her "evaluation", she walked me to the wall of shoes and asked me which one I wanted to try on. She offered zero assistance in the selection process. I've been to a running store years ago that picked specific shoes for me and brought them all out for me to try on and choose from. I was very discouraged at this point because I had gone to this store with high expectations that I would have a staff member who would guide me through this process. After trying on several pairs (that I picked for myself), I gave up. I was aggravated, discouraged, and left there because I didn't want to support a store that made me feel inadequate. I ended up up going to Dicks and got the shoe style she recommended. After paying $150 for a pair of shoes I am now suffering from severe shin splints. This started only after purchasing the new shoes. Now I have to buy another pair and am even more upset that it could have been avoided had I had a salesperson to really help me. No running store should ever make a person of any size or fitness ability feel this way. We need to have the proper tools, shoes in this case, to be successful in weight loss and achieving a healthy lifestyle. I do plan to return to another FleetFeet location with hopes of having proper guidance in my decision. read more

Only giving 2 stars because of the variety. If it weren't for the variety, it would be 1. From the moment I sat down to try on my first shoe, the staff member I was paired up with was the pilot opposite of helpful or friendly. She was condescending, gave absolutely no personal space, and had a "better than you" attitude that was the icing on the cake. I have shopped at the Fleet Feet in East Syracuse and I would recommend them hands down. read more

Your employees are a very special breed. I am old & disabled. I need a specific type of shoe, due to the fact that I have 1 leg shorter than the other & need to have a lift put on the bottom of one shoe. Without the blink of an eye, your employees listen to my requirements & also to my quirky requests. They actually still measure your foot size, unlike most places that just ask what size you wear. They offer numerous suggestions & even assist with putting the shoe on your foot! This is the 4th & 5th (bought 2) pair of shoes I've purchased from Fleet Feet & "I'll be back!" Really happy that a "north" store was opened in Clay. I like the personalized service and the "fun runs" on Saturday mornings from here. Breakfast is provided and drawings for prizes). They also, occasionally have a shoe rep at the runs so you can try out sneakers. These folks give back to the community and it's great to support a local business!! read more

After recent foot surgery I went to Clay location for fitting, having had moderate success in the past at both FF locations. Brian was extremely patient and after an hour and seven different shoes we found a perfect pair, except for the horrendous color. Ordered a pair delivered to the store, whereupon they were thrust at me by a large, full-faced, brunette, Mallory? as she brusquely asked if I wanted to try them on, of course I did, who wouldn't? She "graciously" removed the tissue and said she'd back lace for me though her tone and facial expression made it clear it pained her to do so. I requested to try on another pair (for additional purchase), and asked if it was okay to look around the store, as I felt I was being given the bum's rush, though there were only two other customers, both being assisted and the store didn't close for another hour and a half. Needless to say I made no other purchases and the new sneakers sit in their box as a sad reminder to the pitiful service received. Any runner understands the joy of trying out the new kicks immediately... They will be returned, and unlikely I'll give FF another chance. read more

Wow! I am so impressed with this store! I recently began a walking program with a neighbor, and needed some good walking shoes. I had just returned a pair of hiking shoes that another place talked me into, and needed knowledgable help. The store looked small, but on closer look, they have it all. And the clerks are incredibly knowledgable and motivating. They don't just sell you shoes. There's a whole process to go through to be certain you have the perfect shoe and perfect fit. The person who waited on me was so motivating that my neighbor and I are signing up for one of their many fitness programs Couch Potato to 5K!
