What a great first experience at Fleet Feet in Syracuse. I live about an hour away so I don't come here often; in fact I've never been here. they have great reviews and I needed new running shoes, so I made the drive. I did not have an appointment but I could see why they ask you to make one, all of the fitters were busy when I came in. I was immediately greeted by Kinyorda, who is so cheerful and helpful. she helped me process a return for something I purchased at the Boilermaker expo, even though I didn't have a receipt. Harper was my fitter and she was very thorough and kind. I came in the store thinking I wanted one thing, and she helped me determine that I needed something different. Although I did try on the shoes I initially wanted it wasn't the proper fit for my foot. Harper did a full scan of my foot and asked me all sorts of questions about what kind of activities I did. I ended up trying five or six pairs of shoes before we found the right ones. Harper was very patient and knowledgeable about the shoes and their different benefits. I cannot recommend Fleet Feet enough. I had a great experience and will be back when it's time for my next pair of sneakers. read more

Had a great experience today. Took my son to get some running spikes for the upcoming track & field season. His feet were put on a digital sensor of some sort and they did a 3D diagnostic to get the perfect sizing. After trying the 2 our rep Matt suggested we decided on a pair. They even have a short runway for you to test the shoes outs. Matt was awesome, very knowledgeable and threw in a pair of socks for us! I have been buying shoes from the store at the Armory for over 10 years . recently a situation happened and this review is so buyers should beware: Typically I buy two pairs of the same shoes so I know they will be available when one wears out. The first pair wore down over an inch on the left heel. I brought it back anfter a few months and said this never happens to me, heels wear down evenly. They didn't know what to say . I said perhaps they were not the proper shoes or defective. I asked for some kind of credit on the new pair I had bought, never worn. Not a full price return but perhaps a reasonable partial credit. They said NO! it has been too long of a time. I said well, ok. I bought a new pair of a different brand after they fitted it. 5 months later - there is absolutely no wear and the heels. I pay, as most people do, a lot of money for their shoes (over $160). I expected some type of customer service - I do not tell them what shoes I need, they tell me. So, in Rochester there is Foot Performance which I have heard a lot abot and their employees don't constantly leave . I will try them next. The store has foot scanning technology available -- take the time to have the staff scan your feet as this will help them to identify the best shoe or shoes for you. Store staff might even recommend brands that you've never tried before -- be willing to consider those shoes as well. I had typically bought New Balance shoes in the past but my latest pair was Brooks based on the recommendation of the store's staff. The store's staff wants you to be satisfied with your purchase and offers a 60 day return policy, but if you take the time to discuss your purchase with the staff at the store before buying, you'll rarely end up needing to utilize the return policy. read more

Wow -- it's like I entered the world of running snob-dom going to this place. First, you have to "check in" with someone to get service, which I found odd. The customer shouldn't be trying to optimize their queuing system, the store should figure it out on their own. Then, I waited more than 30 minutes to have an SU student talk to me about shoes. I mean, that's lovely that they hire students, but I wouldn't call a 30 minute wait for basic advice to be "worth the effort". Also, on the first time going to the store, I got the part-time accountant helping me -- again, online I did better myself. Then, when I finally found the shoes I wanted, they didn't have the right size. They said they could order them -- which I can, and did, do myself at Zappos for cheaper and quicker. Their knowledge of heartrate monitors was nominal, with the sales rep pulling the sales sheets out from the manufacturer, and all their models were old / obsolete. I finally chose a better brand, Suunto, at home, doing my own research -- which they didn't carry. Finally, the "greeter" was dressed like a marathon runner upon entering the store. She didn't take lightly to my comment asking why she was wearing yoga-running-type pants, but then again, my eyes didn't take lightly to seeing an adult which is pretty half-naked when I entered the store. Oh, and too, she was stand-offish -- hello, what a better way to sell NO product? I am and avid exerciser, I know my stuff, and I know what I want -- in the future, I'll go elsewhere, be it online or Dick's, just to get the sizing right. Finally, their outdoor-wear is extremely limited -- mostly all Nike corporate-wear stuff, with no heavy merino wools or anything -- hello, Smartwool? There is some waiting because they are always busy. Having done triathlons for over half a decade, I've had some great experiences at stores, with NYC's Jackrabbit being my home store. That said, my one time in Fleet Feet was by far, unquestionably, the best retail experience I've had. When I got there, Shelby greeted me and in a few minutes Liz was helping me try on shoes. Liz was one of the most passionate, kind, knowledgable, thorough, hard-working people that has ever helped me find a shoe the day before a race. It's easy to find knowledgable workers, but the enthusiasm and vibrancy that she showed made a really stressful situation into one of the highlights of my trip. OK, maybe I'm biased. They took the time to explain what they were looking for and what they saw in regards to my stride. I have never had a more comfortable, well fitting pair(s) of shoes! Same goes with apparel. I bought my tri suit from there and was thankful I was given the help because I most likely would not have gotten one that properly fit which would have negated a lot of the benefits! I went in expecting to pay an arm and a leg for a pair of sneakers that felt marginally better than anything I'd buy from a big box like Dick's (which is were I usually buy sneakers). I'd been suffering from foot pain recently, and was honestly hoping for a miracle when I went in. A MIRACLE IS EXACTLY WHAT I GOT. Not only did I not spend any more than I would have at Dick's, but my feet feel AMAZING after using these sneakers. Can you get the same product elsewhere? Sure! I arrived at the store and quickly found myself helped by a remarkably knowledgeable clerk. I explained my training regimen and foot problems (overpronated foot that with overcorrection) and she ran off into the stock room to find shoes for me. We tried one pair of her selections that didn't work for my foot type. She immediately realized her mistake and took all of her selections back to grab new ones. These guys KNOW their stuff: they will listen to your needs, then will fit you on their treadmill and indoor running track (plan to spend some time getting shoes here). I have been a fan of Fleet Feet for years. They have always had the best staff, the nicest products and the most welcoming atmosphere. I took my annual trip (that was extended another year) to Fleet Feet in Syracuse for some new running shoes. Hank was absolutely fantastic (ask for him if you can!). He brought out two pairs of sneakers. The first pair was not a good fit and I told him that I needed a pair that hugged my feet better. We tried the second pair and they were perfect, just like magic! I also buy new moisture-wicking socks at every trip and he helped me grab some of those. For a new pair of sneakers and four pairs of new socks, it cost around $180. I consider that to be a fair price, as my body will thank me! The thing about Fleet Feet is that it is not just a store to buy shoes. Fleet Feet has the people with the most expertise, including Hank, and has formed a community of those seeking to become healthier. I have not yet been to a training program at Fleet Feet, but am seriously considering attending one. Regardless, Fleet Feet has the best products and the best people. read more

Don't go to this location, go to the one in Clay. Some of staff (not all ) has little to no knowledge on how to properly fit you in a proper running shoe. When I asking about the difference of the two running shoe she just looked at me blankly. All she did is match the exact shoe I walked in to the store with. I wanted to be taken care of properly because I've been shopping at fleet feet for a while. I usually shop at the fleet feet store in Ft. Gordon and it was amazing because they asked what I needed and if I have any injuries. I have had ankle issues and they properly assess how I run and fit me in the shoe that properly fits me in order to run without discomfort. Now this fleet feet employee did not care when I had told her I have an ankle injury and the reason I wanted to know the difference between the two Hoka's was to properly fit me. She didn't even care to see if I was running properly on the mini track. I truly have been a proud shopper at Fleet Feet for some time now and today I was not. I shop for my shoes every 6month. I really hope the moral changes to fit some of the better employees at that store because from my point of view there were employees that genuinely cared about there customer. When I complained about bottom of the foot pain, my Doctor suggested That I try Fleet feet for inserts. I couldn't have been more satisfied.
