We are three gals that have been friends for decades. We moved to other states in our later years and one friend moved to Maine. She was diagnosed with cancer about six months ago. I cancelled my order via email, three weeks before the scheduled delivery, because my husband's grandmother preferred a plant. I find out later that we were charged and an arrangement was delivered. I spoke to a worker, Phil, who was rude and sarcastic during our conversation. He insisted that since it was delivered I should pay. He finally agreed to refund me when I pointed out that it didn't make sense to make me pay for their error and forwarded the email where I cancelled. I email the shop about the conversation and my husband's concern that Phil might not refund us due to his rude behavior. This morning the owner, Melissa, calls me and we have a conversation about the order and email. She was angry about the idea of having to refund me for the reasons Phil cited. She also tries to tell me that the email was unclear. She reads it back to me and I tell her that the words, "I'd like to cancel this order" are very clear. In my mind she could have convinced me into not getting a refund if she would have simply apologized for the mistake, Phil could have convinced me if he would have apologized and had been civil. She cut me off and finally told me that I was no longer welcome to order from them anymore. The arrangements are very beautiful, but Phil and Melissa were so intent on telling me it's somehow my fault rather than admitting they made a mistake. I did receive a refund. We all make mistakes, it was a weird escalation. It's strange to tell people I'm not welcome at a floral shop in Maine because they're upset at refunding an order that I had cancelled with three weeks notice. That's where it went though. read more

My husband ordered flowers to be delivered to our room at the Kennebunkport Inn this past weekend. As sweet as the gesture was, I could tell he was disappointed by what was sent. It wasn't an expensive arrangement, just $65, but as an experienced floral designer, it was clear to me that my arrangement was made up of a lot of the trimmings from other arrangements, there was no structure to keep the stems upright and in place. There was one beautiful cream rose, 2 snap dragons, a small spray of pink roses, lemon leaf, eryngium and a few tiny clematis and lisianthus stems. They were all tiny and short, all the stuff that florists save on the side for corsages and boutonnières. The arrangement was overpriced for what we received. read more

I called to see if a delivery could be made for my grandmothers birthday. I live in San Diego and with the time difference I missed the window for same day deliveries. They called me back to tell me they could deliver next day, however if it was my grandmothers birthday they would make an exception and do their best to get it there right away. I called today to have flowers sent to an acquaintance of mine for the new year. When the man who answered told me they weren't open on New Year's Day, I agreed that tomorrow, New Year's Eve, would work for delivery. We were staying at the White Barn Inn and I went for a walk - decided to skip the main street and walk down Port Road. SO happy because I found Fleurant. I could have spent 2 hours shopping - the most AMAZING selection of candles, bubble baths, toiletries, artisan jewelry and divine little plants and home goods. If I happened to be getting married in Kennebunkport I'd pick Fleurant as my florist in a heartbeat. I picked out a bunch of awesome stuff - some for me, some for guests - went to pay and realized that when I left my jacket in the inn (it was an unseasonably hot fall day) I'd left my credit card in my pocket. They were awesome and super understanding. I went back an hour later and not only was everything waiting for me but it was perfectly gift wrapped with little gift tags, ribbons etc. I'm seriously considering driving up to get ALL of my Christmas presents here. A lovely, vased bouquet was put together for my girlfriend and her family, who were arriving for a weekend stay at the Edgewater Inn. And they did an impressive job of transcribing my rather long message! However, I was disappointed that the flowers did not arrive before my girlfriend and her parents. I had called a day in advance (in the morning), explaining that the recipients would be arriving the next day. At 1 o'clock on the arrival date, the flowers had not arrived. Perhaps I should have explicitly stated that they needed to arrive the day before or earlier the next day, but given that I had called in the morning on the day before, I didn't think it was necessary. Then when I spoke with someone on the phone about the situation, I was offered a quick apology "for the mixup" (this overused expression in customer service irks me), but no gesture towards rectifying the situation or satisfying a somewhat annoyed customer. Again, the product was/is delightful, but I'm not crazy about the service. read more

Melissa and her team at Fleurant did the flowers for my wedding 2 weeks ago. They did an incredible job. Melissa was extremely thorough- down to the details of what my dress looked like, what my bridesmaids dresses looked like, etc- and had lots of ideas. Sadly, I had a very poor experience with Le Fleurant. Over a month ago I placed a carefully planned order for a baby shower I was hosting. Just being careful I called the shop 4 days before the celebration to make sure everything was planned. I was assured by an employee that the order was fine. The next day (3 days before the event), the owner, Melissa, called to tell me that my order had been lost and she'd just been made aware of it. !! I had requested blue hydrangeas and baby's breath - as these were my daughter's wedding flowers. They had none of either one and I was haughtily informed that they were "quite upscale" and disn't even carry baby's breath. !!! BUT if she'd known about the order she would have gotten some in. SO, She assured me that that she often supplied flowers for events at that restaurant and was well accustomed to providing flowers for the tables we would be using and that she would do "something lovely with white roses and blue flowers that she did have in stock. I had also asked for a blue and white corsage and two long stem red roses with delicate ferns and ribbon to present to the two other pregnant mothers. The flowers were delivered on time. That's the good part. The corsage was very small - puny and 'cheap' looking. An embarrassment. The roses came nicely wrapped but just bare long stems with a rose. No ferns or anything to make them pretty. Now, the two arrangements...... they were each about 6 inches tall and 6 inches wide. . AND they were primarily green with a couple of wilty blue flowers stuck in each. I was mortified, embarrassed and incensed. I had bought two bouquets at Hannaford 's for side tables and they looked fresher. Some of the guests actually remarked on the small corsage on a very pregnant lady and that there should have been four arrangements if they were going to be that size! Since then I have spoken to Michelle about my total dissatisfaction and she "was sorry I hadn't been happy". My family will never do business with this florist again. read more
