The surgeon was very arrogant, pushy and at times has an angry attitude. I have up to six months…read morerecovery time for this procedure through accident insurance through my work. When I informed him of this he became angry and told me six weeks. I informed him that my doctor had already sent paper work to the insurance company for six months. He again became angry and told me six weeks. This was before the procedure was even performed. He made reference to he dosnt do things like Dr. Larsen another surgeon that performs this procedure at this hospital. I was being shaved in the wrong area for the surgery when he entered the room. Maybe he should have given the nurse info prior to her starting to prep me. After surgery I was given bare minimum pain relief, three days of pain pills. Never tried to contact for the way I was treated prior to my surgery, felt he would just say no for more meds. I had a tooth extracted at another time prior to this surgery and given the same prescription of which I had some left. I was in severe pain for six days. I also had severe bruising across my body extending to my groin area on my left side, of which he did not acknowledge at follow up after surgery. I terminated him after this visit and will go back to seeing my doctor. This surgeon has very poor bedside manner. There was no discussion about my recovery or pain management by this surgeon even though he says so in his recovery notes of which he changed after I responded to his first notes. The second recovery notes was to cover up more of his mishaps. To this day I have not been told if I should restrict activity or exercise nothing to my recovery. I had to google it to find out what to do and not do. I have learned allot the hard way this being my first surgery. I will not have another procedure performed at this hospital again will go to Corvallis.

It kind of feels like they are gouging an out of towner here. Not sure what it cost else where because this is the first one I have had. I googled cost before I went in and clinics were quoted 100 to 300 dollars and emergency room visit was the most expensive at get this 1000 to 1500 dollars. Does Sameritan walk in clinic charge emergency room prices or is that just for outsiders. This is what is wrong with America! Have insurance but can't use it, then overcharge using the uninsured pricing schedule. Quite the racket.

I visited a family friend who was recovering from hip surgery at Samaratin Pacific Communities…read moreHospital this weekend and I feel compelled to share my observations of the facility, as well as the staff I encountered today. There are unfortunately many hospitals in the region that are underfunded and in desperate need of repair. Although originally built in 1952, Samaratin has been extensively upgraded in recent years. Every segment of the facility I observed today appeared to be clean, inviting and well-functioning. Signage was clear and informative, security checkpoints were effective, and the gorgeous views of the ocean throughout the building were incomparable. My friend's private room was clean and boasted a large television, a recliner, and sofa that pulls out into a bed, expansive views of the coastline, and a gigantic bathroom with a roll in shower, a refrigerator, and a large sliding door that accomodates almost any form of mobility aids and ambulation devices. I'm so happy my friend had such a comfortable room to recuperate in. Most importantly, during the three hours I spent visiting my friend, every staff member I encountered was friendly and helpful. If I were to need a hospital while visiting the Oregon coast, I would be very lucky to be admitted to Samaratin Pacific Communities Hospital. This place is great!
