I was after accommodation and flight times that would be safe for a woman travelling alone, and Jamaal (the store manager) was patient with me and understanding of my concerns. I could only drop by at late hours (past 5pm) after work, which was when Student Flights was also set to close, and Jamaal was willing to stay back past closing hours until everything was booked. I even caught him stepping out once for lunch and he stayed back even though I insisted he go grab something to eat! This place can get very packed at certain hours, particularly during lunch breaks, Friday nights, and weekends. So be sure to pop in early on a week day if you don't want to be waiting around, unless you like reading masses of travel brochures. But all up I've never had such great service from a travel agency before. I'm definitely going back for the next trip I book.

Overall, we had a lovely experience in Port Douglas with only a few things that were, well, awful. She immediately looked into getting those items if not fixed, at least removed from their listings. She was incredible and we highly recommend her!

And as far as my novice eyes can tell, Hunt Leather in the CBD is definitely legit! With a huge amount of leather goods hailing from Colombia, Spain, Portugal, Italy and France, the owners of Hunt Leather have done a good job at sourcing some beautiful pieces. There are bags of all sizes, wallets, travel purses, laptop cases and so much more available here. I had a particular weakness for the Langchamp products. These beautiful items come with pretty hefty prices though. At an average of $1100 for an normal sized woman's handbag, don't say I didn't warn you. The service was reserved, one of those "peer over the top of your glasses at the customers" style experiences, but it wasn't awkward or unpleasant. In saying this it would have been nice to be asked if I needed any assistance. But if you need a bit of leather in your life and are finding it difficult to find something well made, pop into Hunt Leather, but prepare yourself for the credit card sting.

After booking a large trip with multiple flights and tours with them and waiting 2 weeks, I have had to chase them to get my tickets and the international student card I purchased. I had to call and send multiple emails before I received any kind of reply and when I did the reply did not contain my tickets. I then went into their store where I received my card and a print out of my itinerary and was told that they had copied down my email wrong and were sending the tickets to my correct address. A week later I have still not gotten this email. I am now due to fly out in 4 days and still do not have the e-copy of my tickets required for check in. I wish I had skipped going through this agency and just done it all myself. The money I saved has not been worth the added stress.

Agents have computers on desks and printers. There is a wall full of brochures and pamphlets. I wandered inside. An older guy asked me what I was looking for, and then picked out some brochures about the Australia Zoo for me. He led me to an agent who wanted me to buy tickets to the Australia Zoo. I could have just booked the tickets on my own, but I figured I was there anyway. The information center charged me $77 AUD per adult for any day admission with Wildlife Hospital Entry. (This ended up being the same price - Australia Zoo website charges $75 AUD per adult, and the hospital asks for $2 donation.) The lady said they also offer a package that includes admission and a transfer to the zoo. The zoo is about an hour away (driving) from Brisbane city center. The lady said she would email me, but I never received an email. She printed the tickets for me, so I had to hold on to them. The tickets actually scanned when I got to the zoo, so at least I'm glad I didn't get scammed. Why is this information center even here? They don't even have any offers or promotions. I could have obtained their info just by browsing the internet and getting online reviews. Basically they forced me to pay for hospital entry when I didn't need it, and this was not disclosed to me.
