The virtual students joined classes at the end of the year and were able to take part in an outdoor recital, it was a wonderful show. The most important piece for me was finding a studio that offered something beyond beginner tap and a studio that is certified by Dance Master of America-RSDS fit that criteria. The studio rooms are quite spacious and have viewing windows so others can view from the outside throughout the year without being distracting. There is plenty of parking outside and there is an office area where you can pay your tuition or purchase items in their dancer shop. My class was great. Many of my classmates had been dancing together for years and welcomed me with open arms. My instructor was Beth, the owner, she is a wonderful teacher and is really focused on helping dancers with their technique. This studio is a positive space that encourages dancers to learn and grow. Planned for a surprise pole dance class for our bride to be and everyone had an extremely awesome time. Marisa does not ever come across as a judgy person and you feel comfortable with everything, though you may not know the moves at all! She made us feel beautiful and we had such a great time with bruises to commemorate this awesome session! I am not sure if it is because we had a small private party that it was not the studio as pictured. We were at Marisa's place which she converted an area to be a private studio with 4 poles. Though small, it was intimate and a great atmosphere - not to mention super reasonable pricing! The small routine she taught was sensual and challenging enough where you want to try it over and over again! The best part was she allowed us to bring/drink some liquid courage, which is super nice and accommodating considering we were here for a bachelorette party! They welcome families every six weeks into the classroom for observation which is a great way to ask questions and connect with your child's teacher. Although, they do not have large observation windows, instructors often keep doors open (if it's not too loud in the waiting area) or are also open to have visitors upon request when families are concern about their child's class. Their website, quarterly newsletters and Facebook page keeps us informed with pertinent details about the studio and upcoming events. If your child loves to perform, this studio is the place to be as they give ample opportunities for your young dancer to perform in the community in their school's companies. One of the factors that I appreciate most at this school is that they seem to keep their faculty constant. In her last season she experienced retaliation from a coach, emotionally immature leadership, and conduct that violated their own handbook. When concerns were raised by multiple families, ownership declined to meet and responded with: "We believe we can move forward from here and work towards a positive season." Our daughter was eight years old. She lost confidence. She lost skills. Schedules changed constantly. Classes were added mid-season at an extra cost because, in their own words, they had too many girls to teach new routines at once. The list goes on. If you do choose to trial, ask about attrition. We are aware of at least five or six girls leaving a team of fifteen this season alone. That speaks volumes. Competitive gymnastics demands clear communication and genuine investment in every child. You will not find that here.

We joined this school in 2018 after trying several other studios, which all got a thumbs down from my discerning daughter, who was very clear that she didn't want to participate in dance recitals with little girls in too much makeup and explosions of glitter, bows, and over-bedazzled costumes (just not her cup of tea). She wanted a serious, yet fun studio, and KKSD is it. From day one this has been my daughter's happy place. She has made great dance friends, and has felt well supported in her passion for learning many types of dance. The families here are wonderful. Miss Karina is a serious instructor, who doesn't over-praise during class, but is also very loving and encouraging. Her twice a year dance performances at Meydenbauer Center are very well choreographed and professional. The costumes are beautiful, elegant and tasteful. The performers look fantastic, yet age appropriate, and get wonderful stage experience to build performance confidence naturally.
