The turn from main road towards Kirkland dance center is so bad that it struck and badly scratched the underside of my Tesla Model 3. Given that this is the only business, the business should either fix the incorrect ramp or advise users of all sedans to not park there. Please be careful driving there. read more

This review is for their Friday Night swing dancing, hosted by Eastside Stomp. The schedule is about 8-12 (sometimes a little over), plenty of street parking, and the location is easy to get to. The cost is $5, about the cheapest thing you could do on a Friday night. At 8, they start a beginner's thing to teach you the basic steps for 30 minutes if you're a complete beginner. Then once 30 minute is up, the doors are wide open, as the room and the dance floor gets really hot and heavy. This one chick was wearing a cotton sweater and it was damped after 30 minutes of dancing, so do dress lightly, even if it is blistering cold outside. There are no partners required, as you will dance with random people all night long. Great selections of classic swing songs. The staffs are friendly, lively, and darn fun. Eastside Stomp Rocks!!!! More info. at www.eastsidestomp.com Friday night swing dancing hosted by Eastside Stomp is the one of BEST and COOLEST swing scene in the area. Kirkland Dance Center has 1400 sq.ft of beautiful hardwood floor to dance on, and the DJ, Peter plays great selection of music all night long! It's 30 min. lesson for absolute beginner is always bubbly and funny, and after 30 min lesson with Peter, you can start dance the night away. I find this crows at this venue younger than other swing dance scenes in the area as I am one of the OLDER person there, and heck, I am not that old!!! :) They have same open swing dance on Tuesday from 9 to midnight. Tuesday dances are a bit more intimate with small but energetic dancers. Please come out and give it a try! No partner required, and people there are SUPER cool and friendly. There are plenty of people who'd show you steps and dance with you. And Eastside Stomp also has beginner Lindy Hop and Bolboa classes on Fridays and Peter teaches private lessons too. read more

The other reviews on Yelp are a bit outdated - they reference a swing dance event on Friday nights. Earlier this month I went down to the studio because they are now having Salsa and Bachata socials on Friday nights. Since I live on the Eastside it's nice to have somewhere to go for a Latin night social that is nearby. It wasn't as packed at the socials that are in Seattle, but for $5 you can't go wrong! I was, however, disappointed that there was no social last Friday because the DJ apparently cancelled the day of... We started taking Flamenco classes with Jackie here. She is a great beginners instructor and it is a lot of fun. We also got a great deal for the sessions ($15/session with a cash discount), so would highly recommend. She is very personable and helpful to us for move and attire. The dance center itself is small, but sufficient. There seems to always be dancers practicing or taking classes. There is a parking lot, but the entrance has a fairly large bump that scraped the underside of our car pretty loudly. read more

I come here to take Rachel's aerial classes, and they are the best price you will find in the area especially for the quality of instruction! She's studied being a teacher as her profession, and has gone to college to teach, it shows in the way she communicates how to do tricks and combonations. I'm a big fan of Rachel's aerial classes, she's sweet and unintimidating, yet she's very proficient at getting the job done and helping students progress. read more

I've been meaning to write a review for this place forever. I've been attending for over a year now and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon. I always look forward to my classes here. The teachers are so kind and encouraging, yet they also know what they're doing. I'm an adult who takes ballet and if you're looking to get into it, this really is the place to be. You don't have to worry if you've never had a single class, people come in all the time who've never done ballet before and the teachers really take their time with them. There not really that "sink or swim" thing that happens some places. You also don't have to worry about feeling stupid or awkward. No one will make you feel "less than", and you won't be bullied. You don't need to be stick thin either. And if you don't want to wear tights and a leotard you don't have to, lots of people show up in yoga pants and t shirts (I know some people worry about that!). All in all this is a really great, laid back place where adults that want to learn to dance can. Without a lot of drama! The other ladies (and gentlemen) who take class here are all great, friendly people too. :) read more

*hip hop you don't stop* Tonight, I attended my first dance class in a LONG time. This class wasn't just hip hop people... it was strip hop! (queue stripper music) I had the time of my life tonight and forgot how much I love to dance. Even stripper type dance. Here's a nutshell: This dance center is kind of tucked away from the main street in Kirkland and literally two minutes from my house. Drop in classes run 12 dollars each. The instructor I had tonight, Kari-Lee, is a riot. She teaches quickly but is more than willing to review steps if need be. The class was very very fast paced and you seriously work up a sweat, but it's fun! I would also like to state that I got a gold star tonight from the teacher for doing such a great job on my first class. I guess the dance never dies once its in you. Another note about this class: BRING KNEE pads. It sounds dirty, but you are on your knees often and do some quick dance moves on to your knees. I am totally hooked and will be there most Thursdays shaking my white ass. read more

I am brand new to dancing, which is very intimidating at the ripe old age of 24 when most these people have been dancing for at least a decade. (not all of them though). Despite that, I heart it here! I take hip hop, jazz, and ballet. Hip hop from Beinna is perfect for a beginner but I also observed that the long time dancers love her class as well because she's got a great personality & makes adjustments for more advanced dancers. She just wants people to really get into it and learn to love dancing. Yay for Beinna. Jazz is much harder. There are many jazz classes and so far I have only taken the beginner class with Jacqueline. I went to that one cause it said beginner & I'm...beginner. Well, my friend who had danced from age 3 to age 19 came with and she assured me that it was not beginner. At the end of the class when they do the choreography I look ridiculous trying to keep up. It's simply too fast for me. But I have fun for the first 3/4 of class doing warm up and going across the floor - I may not look like the other dancers but it's fun and I figure I'll catch on if I keep coming back. Also, some of the students give me pointers, and even though Jacqueline seems hard-core and prefers seasoned dancers she is still encouraging to me and sometimes gives adjustments for me if something is more advanced. I have done Ballet with Jerri, Suzanne and Amy. Amy doesn't normally teach it, she was covering for Jerri but she's great. She even gave me five minutes after class to show me something in detail I couldn't catch onto in class. Jerri is super sweet and it's clear her students love her and she seems to know them well. She also gave me extra attention since I was absolutely clueless. Suzanne teaches ballet/modern and she is much different from Jerri I think, she is also a yoga teacher if that helps explain...she was very nice and encouraging. Also, the ballet students were very encouraging when I have difficulty and assure me I will catch on. So those are all the teachers I know thus far. Last week I went to 5 classes if that tells you how much I like it. Also, it is way cheaper than all the other studios I have looked at! Like, sometimes half as much, especially when you buy the punch cards. Also, they are way laid back and there is no dress code which is common to other studios. Oh one complaint- small bathrooms that aren't ideal for changing clothes. So that's it, now come and dance so I'm not the only beginner! read more

I came here for the Friday night swing dance including the beginner lesson. The instructors were great and I successfully learned a few steps. They teach it so that anyone of any ability can learn, and you don't need a partner because you rotate through partners the entire time. The social dance that followed was fun! Loved the music. The dance center itself is pretty nice. It can get very hot with that many bodies in the room though so dress accordingly. A great time! read more

Best West Coast Swing social dancing in the Seattle/Redmond area.

I had the worst experience with your classes here. We were on vacation the one week they handed out "final show" flyers and heard about the final performance 3 days prior. After emailing (I assume the owner) she communicated her apologies for the miscommunication and per my request, gave me the schedule for the final performance (dubbing it an "informal show for parents"). When we arrived for the show we called to the counter to pay $5 per adult to watch the show. Normally I would have no problem paying this fee, HOWEVER, after emailing the lady in charge 3x's over the prior two days I assumed I had ALL the information I was lacking from the absent informational flyer. After telling the gentleman that we were NEVER informed of this "fee" he rudely sniped in a condescending tone "Weeelllll, it'll be $5 per adult" and "sorry". After a while I think he felt bad after the fact and offered to pay for our admission, as did many other parents, but the fact is you expect me to pay when you have given me no knowledge of an "admission"??? That's total BS. As a business owner myself, I would never be rude or allow anyone to be rude to ANY customer over a screw up on my part. Lost out on next session for us! That $5 mishap just cost $200 for Winter session, which we were planning on doing. Totally unimpressed with this studio and the only reason I gave ANY stars was because the Instructor was great and my daughter really liked him. read more
