This was definitely legit). The staff bios are on the wall and they all have impressive qualifications. The classrooms and waiting areas are clean, uncluttered, brightly lit and adequately equipped. One feature i particularly liked was a "shoe recycling" bin.... Like a book exchange, toss in the ones you don't need anymore and help yourself to any you can use. Looking forward to trying out some regular classes!

Overall, this dance studio is a wonderful place to have your young dancer start dancing. My son…read moretakes tap here and he enjoys it! The studio is sandwiched between PC Restaurant and Five Guys with ample parking space where it is easy to get in and out. They provide a free trial class when you are unsure if the class is going to workout for your child. The school offers ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, musical theater and adult classes too. Their registration fee is minimal per family and class rates are competitive too. They welcome families every six weeks into the classroom for observation which is a great way to ask questions and connect with your child's teacher. Although, they do not have large observation windows, instructors often keep doors open (if it's not too loud in the waiting area) or are also open to have visitors upon request when families are concern about their child's class. Their website, quarterly newsletters and Facebook page keeps us informed with pertinent details about the studio and upcoming events. If your child loves to perform, this studio is the place to be as they give ample opportunities for your young dancer to perform in the community in their school's companies. One of the factors that I appreciate most at this school is that they seem to keep their faculty constant. Unlike other studios I have experienced in the past, turnovers were high and the staff seemed young and lack on teaching experience. Their faculty genuinely care about their students as individuals. The teachers are well versed in their craft and are educated both with higher education degrees and industry experience in national and international companies. If you have a budding dancer, Washington School of Dance starts as young as 18 months through adults.

I recently moved to Seattle and wanted to pursue my passion in dancing. I have been a trainer…read moredancer from last 15 years and have performed in over 150+ stage shows. I have also won several accolades including Shamak Davar's best dancer award in 2009. So, you can trust me when you see my review. Tripti, who owns Mishika dance academy is the best dance chroeographer by far in Seattle. I needed a teacher who is great in her dance moves, expressions and energy levels. And i got all that at her class. She evn teaches students who have less dancing skills and within 4 classes, you will notice that you have become dance connoisseurs. Within a month i got to perform in 2 of her major dance shows that had over 300+ crowd. If you are looking to be on stage, then join her performance group. And if you just want to learn dancing, then that is the perfect place to become dancing champions. She is very patient and she will teach you the step until you do not get it right. The best part is she records all of her class videos so you get to see what you did wrong or where you need improvement. Dancing is an art where you need to have high energy level, be graceful and display expressions and in her academy you will lean all of that. She enjoys dance and makes sure you enjoy it too. Love it! I would highly recommend joining Mishika dance academy and east or west, Tripti is the best :)

It saddens me to write this review, as over the years we have collected many great memories in our…read morerelationship with this studio. I also have friends who helped make this studio a success over the years- I hope they can understand the spirit behind this review and what compels me to speak out. My first commitment is to my child- who I will fiercely advocate for, to the neurodivergent community as a whole, and raising awareness. Nine straight years with Applause with a neurodivergent child. My child grew up at this studio. I wasn't always the perfect dance mom due to my own ADHD struggles with time management, but I contributed a lot to this studio over the years. In the end, we had to move on from this studio due to the rigid management style of their current director, Amanda. While as studio manager she has provided a much-needed organizational structure, in addition to a creative spirit. It's the mistreatment and disregard with regard to the needs of the neurodiverse that compels me to write a less than favorable review. I asked her to incorporate diversity and equity inclusion policy into the studio's mission. That was not done. While there are a couple older kids who may identify as neurodivergent that attend Applause- and management likes to tout inclusivity and kindness- there are no official protocols and considerations to serve as a guide for teaching staff. When you add a rigid management style to that, the end result is a child who exits with a literal broken heart. I am deeply disappointed Amanda did not take my suggestion with official DEI incorporation, as I feel she would have learned valuable skills and insight I feel she is lacking as a young studio manager. She was a child when I first met her, and I spent years rooting her on. So it really is especially disappointing. I have had several conversations with Amanda regarding my child's struggles there- which include shunning, and a bullying incident that occurred in their theater group at the age of 9 that we sought therapy for. She is aware there are multiple other exceptionally talented children who were pushed out from the studio with the same struggles. We hung on. I think she feels she has done right by us, and fulfilled her role as studio manager. I have hit a brick wall. We would just continue the rounds of what she feels she's done, and me trying to convey and help her understand how the studio could improve with examples. In recent months, I could see her attitude toward me change. So there really is nowhere else to go with the relationship, except to encourage a DEI policy and follow it. It's their responsibility. I would also recommend working better with the kids they promote to teach classes. It's one thing to say "sorry that didn't work for you". But does that identify and fix problems that arise with inexperienced kids promoted to teach classes without proper direction? You've got to walk the walk- and having a mission statement, plus policy and procedures surrounding equity and inclusion is a great start. I wish this studio the best.
