It is a college prep school, but they don't just focus on academics (though they are incredibly strong there). They incorporate public speaking and social emotional learning at all grade levels, plus project based learning as the kids get older.

Like every parent, we simply wanted our son to feel safe, supported, challenged academically, and excited about his future. Unfortunately, our early experiences within the public school system in this area were deeply disappointing. There was bullying, a lack of meaningful support, and moments where we truly felt our child was not being protected or seen in the ways he deserved. Finding Palm Valley School changed everything for our family. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmth, professionalism, inclusion, and genuine care not just from the faculty and administration, but from the other families and students as well. Palm Valley doesn't just educate children. They help them thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and creatively. The teachers here are exceptional. The electives and extracurricular programs are incredibly impressive and genuinely future-focused. Whether your child is interested in the arts, leadership, academics, athletics, technology, or community involvement, there are opportunities everywhere. The school creates pathways that truly prepare students for universities, scholarships, and successful futures while still allowing kids to actually enjoy learning. One of the biggest differences we noticed was that learning here feels alive. Our son comes home excited about projects, field trips, discussions, and experiences almost daily. There's a practical, hands-on approach that has helped him grow in confidence and maturity in ways that honestly continue to amaze us. Since enrolling at Palm Valley, our son has absolutely thrived through grades 7, 8, and now 9, and we genuinely look forward to continuing his educational journey here all the way through graduation. No school is perfect, and like every school navigating today's world, Palm Valley has faced challenges. What impressed us most was how professionally and compassionately the board and faculty handled difficult moments. You can genuinely feel that they care deeply about these students and families. Their response during challenging times did not weaken the school community. If anything, it strengthened it. There is resilience, accountability, kindness, and heart here, and it is obvious the students are benefiting from being part of a community that chooses growth and compassion over division. As LGBTQ parents, we cannot overstate what this school has meant to our family. Feeling safe matters. Feeling represented matters. Feeling protected matters. And feeling welcomed without explanation or judgment matters more than people realize. If you are an LGBTQ family considering schools in this area, our advice is simple: do not waste time second-guessing this decision. Learn from our experience. If Palm Valley is a feasible option for your family, enroll your child. And truthfully, this recommendation is not only for LGBTQ families. It is for any family looking for a school that genuinely sees children, supports them, challenges them, protects them, and helps them become excited about who they are and who they are capable of becoming. Palm Valley has been life-changing for our family, and we will always be grateful for that.

Oh how I'm a sucker for pottery! I went up to Idyllwild this past Saturday to escape the heat of…read morePalm Springs and ended up here. This shop is next to the Stationary store I came up to visit. Beautiful pottery by local Artisans. I was welcomed in by one of the shops owners who promptly asked me if I was there for the Mayor's Birthday... Max is his name and he is a beautiful Golden Retriever, sadly I was unaware of such an occasion but it is duly noted for next year. Gorgeous mugs, bowls and plates are here. If you are like me and prefer one-of-a-kind service ware, make your way up the mountain and peruse their offerings. I got this neat garlic grater that is so beautiful just grate the Garlic and then pour the olive oil into the same dish Voilà your good to go! They also offer pottery classes here as well. One item I wanted to purchase but refrained was the candle that had the scent of rain after it's initial descent on the earth Petrichor - there were 2 choices one with pine forest scent and one with wild flowers... they come in lovely pottery urns (not very large). ****A MUST READ REVIEW****…read more Before you send your little one to this Preschool take this in to consideration: This Preschool NEVER has enough staff to run this Establishment! Without enough staff the children are having more incidents (ouch reports) and lack proper supervision. The employees are over tasked and left exhausted and overworked (without any appreciation of all the hard work they put in daily to run the school). Surprisingly, all they get is a fines &cites but still remain OPEN despite all the violations (which is all PUBLIC information). Look into the violations and cites prior to enrolling your little one into this place. The teachers are wonderful & tooken advantage of on a daily basis. S/O to Ms. Sophie and many more for all their hard work. It's very true this Preschool's Management does not believe their employees should have their 10 mins breaks and talk real bad about their employees. I seen it first hand as an employee. Employee's are called Unintelligent for not running the business for the the director Ruwan and his mom Chris because neither one of them like to lift a finger to help employees with the children (even though they are short staffed).Chris's behavior in front of the children is unacceptable!! Yelling, pointing and screaming at staff right in front of the children is unacceptable and can be Traumatic for the children to see. A Preschool should not be teaching children these types of toxic behaviors. It's a matter of time when this place gets closed down. I seeked employment elsewhere and found a better Preschool to be apart of. Just wanted to shred some light to this toxic place. The children don't deserve to be in an environment like this. Chris needs to retired and find someone else to run her business because it's obvious her son Ruwan has no clue how to run a Preschool with out stepping on the backs of every one his employees.

Anyways, my child was targeted by staff. A staff member tried to tell her that her parents don't love her. Another staff member made a snide remark. SOME of the children (Mainly white) will make racist remarks at kids of color. Staff gets told and does nothing! She was harassed by the male staff including the male principal. he also retaliated when we took to the board. she would stand up for herself against staff by recording herself and or calling us (parents) they could be heard yelling at her and telling her she has no rights at all and that her being uncomfortable with only men in a room while being searched and told to take off clothing is okay and that she doesn't need a female present or for the doors to be open. despite her having multiple witnesses, they still targeted her. I don't recommend any child of color go to this middle school. she had been dealing with this for over 2 years.
