This is an amazing place with a delightful owner. I have yet to find anywhere that can compare to the quantity and selection available here.

They stole quite a bit off me, insulted me, then had to have the police show up in order to finish the transaction. My trade was computer services and parts for their ancient computer systems in exchange for a used 2002 Iron Maiden doll that they still valued at $150 (ebay) though the MSRP sticker on the box says $40. At first, It was an 'extreme haggle' to get her to deal 4 "The Mummy" postcards for $10 (all I had on me) when she wanted $12. She ends up talking me into repairing her computer issues, which I did. I asked for the doll in exchange, and she won't keep on topic intentionally, then exclaims "Well, Eddie's not worth it to you!" I literally cried. Since I was a boy, I've never had a doll. Male dolls are extremely hard to find without a gun attached or some shirtless wrestler. Since this was near Christmas... it was particularly hard to bear that comment since I usually charge the same amount as the doll, per hour. They next day she comments on how great the computer is and how much of an expert I must be (IT professional for 15 years), but now she doesn't want to complete the rest of the deal. She states, just like everyone does, "My son knows computers, so now you don't have to!" Great, so you took my advice, and pushed someone else to do it for free. She said she'd pay me $50, but by 4pm, they closed up, and I still was 2 days in, without any compensation or trade. This is laughable by the 2 days of work I've now crammed into it, as well as $300 in ram upgrades, network configurations, running cables under the carpet, bringing power to the showcase, and bringing both machines to a stable copy of Windows 10, which she ok'd. Day 3, she calls after 2pm saying her program won't work. I say I can try to be there in an hour, but by 4 they had closed. Day 4, I arrived about when they opened, ready to fix the issue by simply updating the erroneous program, right clicking to run compatibility mode, or reverting back to windows 7. She gives me an ugly look, tells me to leave, won't even let me explain the solution because she doesn't want to hear it. I ask for my ram and DVD back, she won't. At this point, this is called "Theft of Services rendered." and my stolen gear. I call the police, and she calls the other line. I return all their recyclables (10MB switches, parallel port printer hub, usb hub, crusty keyboard, and nonworking battery backup. They stole my 16GB of DDR3 ram ($200), 2GB of DDR 400 ram ($100), new keyboard ($50), and install DVD ($150), totaling $500! This isn't counting my hours poured into it as well as setting an appointment with Spectrum to replace their broken modem for free, which they shooed them away. She made me invoice her for the doll, because I was pressuring her about how I'm not leaving without my parts. She offers $100... I negate to $300... she won't budge, so I opt for the doll. ($40 to her). "I guess Eddie is now worth it?" I ask her as I depart as her nasty husband tells me in front of a cop that "You're the type of person that expects something for nothing!" to which I said I'd be now writing this review because of his vile comment. Other notes: Black mold stench is horrible when entering. If you are sensitive, DO NOT ENTER - I'll be calling a few local inspectors to pay them a visit. She knows about the mold, even comments on it, but won't take care of the issue. Broken high voltage neon sign hanging above door. These things run at 17,000 volts. She intentionally keeps the phone off the hook to avoid customers. (What is the point of this store?) She doesn't and won't operate her cell phone. They talk nasty things about their clients waiting on orders. You won't find what you're looking for, but feel free to ask, because it will take them a week and they'll be mad at you about it. No insurance company wants to work with them because they can't have real figures, saying their HUGE inventory of junk is valued at millions. Literal garbage everywhere, she even asked me to haul it out to the recycler next door, then tells the cops I took her stuff, yet doesn't want it back, yet even recognize it. Dumb as hell when it comes to a computer. Plain dumb. Place is cluttered with their trash, invoices, and so on. You can't see the showcases from the mounds of falling over clutter. Nothing is hooked up or repaired. No modern store layout. You won't even know they had a backroom! Moldy records in the front half, and scary vacant towering isles in the back amongst more literal garbage that they can't bring themselves to throw out. Note to old man: You're a horrible person to tell me I did nothing for you. Note to old woman: I'd tell you to "Bite me!", but your dentures would fall out. Note to mysterious "son that knows computers" but obviously is too dim to actually do anything for his parents: If you're really that lazy to see how bad their business and computers have gotten, then you must really suck at computers and at being their son. read more

Lots of rare old cool things, but insanely overpriced. $6 for a very tattered copy of Rolling Stone from the 80s? Nah. Records, there are a LOT but in reality most of it is just MULTIPLE copies of not that rare of records. Only had an hour to peruse, but nothing really stood out on that end. The worst part was I finally was ready to check out with 2 pretty common records. I get needing to make money on a sale, but a quick Discogs look showed the one they tried to charge me $12 for was selling for an average of less than $2, and the one they tried to charge me $18 for was selling for an average of $5. I handed them the records and walked out, disgusted. I shouldn't have needed to pay more than $15 total for the both of them. read more

This place sure does have a huge selection, and is really the only record store for miles around. Do not be lured in by this. The records are not priced individually, and those that do have price tags are priced like all the others: at the counter. I presume the proprietor checks eBay asking prices and just adds 10% (or more), as the inflated price makes this place not worthwhile over simply buying records online. If you go here, here's what will happen: you'll find some cool record you've been looking for, you'll have an idea of what it's worth online, you'll take it up front to ask for a price, and you'll be disgusted and walk away. I've done this a couple times here recently, so now you don't have to. Just skip this place and pretend it's not here. Luckily i have decent record stores in my city. Oh, and the internet. read more

Overwhelming selection. They claim to have over 2 million records. It is almost a museum, rather than record store. Albums and artists, most places never have are on theses shelves. I'm not sure how the pricing works. Everything is priced at the counter, and everything I have purchased has been $18 - some I thought would be more and some I thought would be less. Be ready to drop some money here, but you will probably leave with a few albums you have been searching a long time for. read more

This record shop What a bloody disaster... When I got there, the building was unimpressive. In fact, I didn't even know if it was open. I went in, and most of the building was dark. The owner said she'd turn the lights on for me, and it was super cold in there, too (it's still cold here about 7 degrees Celsius) because she didn't have the heat on. She told me that her heating bill was $2,000 last month so she is careful about using it. I went to the car and put on a spare sweatshirt and went back in. Lots of records, as promised. As I started to dig (and shiver...) I noticed a few things... 1) Literally 90% or more of the albums were not priced 2) Literally 90% or more did not have a plastic sleeve 3) Literally 90% or more were pretty beat Instead of leaving right away, I figured I'd have a look around. It took me long enough to get there, so I might as well. I spent three hours looking around. Most of what I found was destroyed/unplayable, including a Kinks album (Kinda Kinks) that was missing a chunk of the vinyl. Looked like someone took a bite out of it. I did find some things I wanted to buy....an EX Sticky Fingers, the Monkees Instant Replay album, Miles Davis 6 eye Columbia pressings, a nice MO of Strange Days, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke. Good stuff. As I said, none of them were priced. When I got to the register, the owner started to put the albums in stacks according to price. After a few minutes, there was a $25 stack, $30, $40 and $100 (She had a sealed US copy of the Wall, seal Neil Young Sleeps with Angels). She said "that stack is $25, that one is $30" etc. I took that to mean that each stack was $25 total. I was horribly wrong. EACH album started at about $25. Yup, that's $30 for Strange Days, $25 for a run of the mill Zep II, $40 for the Monkees....and best of all...$250 for a US Beatles White Album. I almost fell over. I told her that in Pittsburgh, NO ONE charges that much. A Zep II at the Attic is no more than $10, tops. Same for Strange Days. I've bought super nice copies of the White Album, full sets, for $20. She said she knew her prices were high, but that she had to pay rent, etc. She also said that she can get those prices, that those albums are tough to keep in stock. I asked her if she'd rather make money now, or have those albums sit for months and months. The area where the store is located isn't a high class town at all. It's actually lower middle class. Like I said, I was there for 3 hours and only saw two other customers. I'm pretty sure they were friends of hers, because they talked a while and left without buying anything. So I walked out with a copy of Ozzy's No More Tears album ($18) and Otis Redding The Great Otis Redding ($30). Total rip off on Otis. I bought Otis Blue at Jerry's last month for $10. The thing is, that Ozzy album is pretty rare. It's an early 90s album, and you know how pricey they can be. I called a head, and when she said it was $18, I figured the rest of the prices would be fair. But $250 for a US White Album???? Needles to say, I won't be going back. Spent all that time, money (took a 1/2 tank of gas to get there, plus tolls) for just about nothing. read more

Prices are ridiculously high, for records that are in average condition. West Middlesex Antique Mall has albums that are in much better condition, and the prices are about one-fifth the price that they are at Flip Side. One thing I'll say is their selection is huge, but the prices keep me from going back there any time soon. read more

After searching the huge collection and picking out albums you like, you then find out that the albums that do have a price tag were priced 30 years ago and that you will now pay double. The reason they have 2 million albums is because they hardly sale any to people who aren't suckers. The lady at the counter seemed like she didn't want to be there and after telling me the prices were double the marked price got an attitude when I handed them back to her and told politely no thank you. This place is awful! They have too many records and it's very chaotic and disorganized! The prices are ridiculous and the records are in a much worse condition than marked. In addition, the records smell like mold and getting rid of the smell would further damage the records and sleeves. The owner was very rude and far from helpful. I could easily find any of these records for a third of the price in much better condition. There are several stores in Pittsburgh with friendly service, better prices, and better condition of records. Even if the record stores in Pittsburgh don't have the same selection, you can find any of their records listed by individuals on discogs.com. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time at flip side. read more

Spent about an hour and a half in this place and I'll say it does have an INSANE number of records and other miscellaneous collectibles and memorabilia. Unfortunately, maybe only 2 rows of the LPs are in VG to VG+ condition. EVERYTHING after that, I considered it to be Good, Poor, or I said to myself, "why on earth are they evening selling this POS looking thing." They probably have about 5-15 duplicates per every album so it looks like a lot but its just a lot of crappy duplicates with MAYBE a VG rated record out of those. The lack of organization in this store amazed me. There were random records and other crap just piled on top of each other, and everything was covered in dust or had cob-webs hanging from it. It was mind numbing to try and find a certain artist from the way they had the records ordered. It was all very confusing and I did not enjoy it obviously. PRICING: This was probably the most insane thing I've ever experience while shopping at a record store. The lady who runs it, she's nice and all, and I totally understand she has to make some money too to pay the bills for this massive store; but when it all comes down to the sale, she is WAY OFF on the prices. There are signs around the store saying "Record pricing is done at the checkout counter. Due to the large number of records, prices are based off of an online search from computer and the condition that the record is in." O.K. thats great and all. So, I grabbed a few cassette tapes, and a Chicago album. Took them to her and she says the used cassette tapes are all $ 5 a piece regardless of the condition of the case. That was more than I expected her to say, so I said "never mind, what about this record?" She didn't even use the computer like the signs say, and she takes the record out and I swear when I say this but she was grabbing the vinyl with her fingers ON the grooves and flipping it over a few times and then pushes it back in to the cover, while I'm over here basically cringing the whole time this is happening! She precedes to tell me that this very common record, that was in Good condition will be $15. I looked online before going to the counter and saw the same record in VG-VG+ condition was going from $7-$12. I told her I'll pass on the record, but I really wanted one of the cassette tapes I found. So i said I would take one of the tapes, and she said it would be $5.50. (Earlier when I first walked in I asked if they took Debit card and she said Yes.) SO, I pulled out my card and NOW after all this BS, she says "Oh, theres a $20 minimum on cards." At this point I was just trying not to laugh in her face, but I did manage to say "Well shit you should have told me that in the beginning so I wouldn't have wasted so much of my time!", since I didn't go in planning to spend that much. Needless to say I left everything on the counter and said have a nice day. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORE. Please, Go to UNDERDOG RECORDS in Hubbard, OH or RECORD CONNECTION in Niles, OH if you want to browse a genuine collection with everything being in VG to VG+ condition with good prices. read more

The owner of this place is a bait and switch artist - she has prices on her albums and doesn't honor them... I picked out an album with a $7 price tag - THEIR OWN price tag - and she tried to charge me $20!!! When I got no satisfaction by appealing to the owner, I filed a complaint with the BBB. She countered by sending me a slew of nasty emails to my personal email account even AFTER I told her to stop! Her response to the BBB? That I was switching price tags! Seriously? This is how you handle customer issues? This should never have gotten this far. She also stated to the BBB that they have so many records, keeping up with price tags on all their merchandise is not possible for them. Really? THEN DON'T BE IN BUSINESS!!! Of course, there is a simple solution to her dilemma - post signs that state prices are out of date and to please inquire at the counter (it's not as if they're inundated with customers anyway!) But no, she opted to not honor something any reputable business owner would do, shift blame to the customer and lose a customer in the process. Maybe I am only one customer - but if that's how she views one - why would she view you any different? read more

Found a couple cool records that I was going to purchase, for fun and to support a local business. They were marked $10 each and I was apparently visually excited because the price went up at the counter. The woman, thankfully, told me I wasn't obligated to buy them. haha! Thank God! She said that she had to check the price to see if they have changed, because she had priced them over 20 years ago. I guess if they didn't sell in 20 years at $10 each, they are flying off the shelves now. Must be nice to be doing so well at business that you can turn away paying customers.
