We hired Reina for our son's wedding at Santa Catalina Chapel and reception at Tehama. As a retired wedding planner from San Francisco, I was assisting our son and his fiance pull together their team of vendors and overall wedding planning. We took a look at a few florists in the area, but were most impressed with Reina. This is a very busy time for weddings and most florists are really busy and don't have a lot of time initially. The price quotes we received were very high, so we focused on mid range quotes. What impressed me about Reina was the time she spent on the phone discussing the wedding and what the bride and groom envisioned regarding style, etc. We sent over photos of ideas that appealed to them to give Reina an idea of style, colors, etc. This involved ceremony florals, bridal bouquets and boutonnieres, a very long head table for 35 and rounds for guests. Reina offered to do a demo at Tehama, at no additional charge, so that we could see what she was proposing. Unheard of from any other florists who charge for this and it is at their location, not at the venue. During the demo, she brought different blooms in the neutral colors requested and all the candle options so we could play with it all. It was incredibly customized and within budget. The morning of the wedding, Reina went out of her way to deliver bouquets and boutonnieres to two different locations, plus installing the ceremony florals and back to Tehama for the reception installation. A lot of running around between Monterey and Carmel Valley. All on time, with a calm, warm and friendly smile! The florals were gorgeous, and exactly what they wanted, even more than we expected. No request was too much, and she was a joy to work with. Scarlett is her assistant and handles all email communication, and is also great to work with. I also hired Reina for the rehearsal dinner at Folktale the night before. She completely understood my desire to make it simple with more wildflower in small vases look to be very different from the wedding. It exceeded my expectations! Reina's passion shines through in her work and designs, and she radiates joy and enthusiasm every time she speaks with you. I truly felt like I was the only Bride in her world, and that she would deliver only the best for me - which she did. The cost of our favorite flowers during the winter months, were definitely pricey. Our planner sent us a photo of an arch that Floral Designs by Reina designed for another wedding. Upon seeing that photo, I already knew that I want Reina to do the flowers for our wedding as well and found a way to convince my then fiance (now husband) to agree because we were originally supposed to go with a family friend. We're super happy with how the bouquets, centerpieces, the ceremony arch turned out for our wedding! There's nothing we would change about them! The arch that we used for the ceremony was transferred to the reception hall as a backdrop for our sweetheart table and it looked absolutely amazing with an amber light illuminating it and creating a very beautiful reflection on the glass walls. I am not startled to find there are no reviews on this floral designer. I had my wedding about a month ago and was overall happy yet very disappointed at the finished product that I worked so hard and diligently with Renee for the past 6-8 months planning for my special day. I got married at the intercontinental hotel in Monterey, a stunning location overlooking the pacific ocean. Renee and I shared the same love of style of flowers which is why we hit it off in the first place. My theme was vintage glam. During the demo, she came to my house (after a seperate occcasion of completely missing our demo appt in Monterey and calling me that morning to schedule another appt when i was already on my way from SF to monterey. The flowers displayed at the demo were beautiful, fresh and exactly what I wanted. After months of countless phone calls, emails, etc (need i mention everytime we would have a long conversation to detail the bill, order, updates or changes) she would send me a invoice that was COMPLETELY wrong. THis happened several times during the process and I felt like I really had to baby sit her which was very painful with everything else going on as a bride. Being a event planner myself i have high threshold for these types of creative people who are not very business savvy or have strong project management skills. I was also so deep in the process there was no turning back to find another florist so I marched forward. The long and the short of it is, the day of, the flowers I ordered and for the price that I paid was completly not in line with the demo, my expectations and the overall value. I felt like she really jyped me on the amount of flowers that i paid for, the cascading orchids we had demo'd were apparently missing, the flowers were really not that fresh, including my bouquet. During the demo there were no "spray flowers" aka filler green flowers" in the demo and she said she doesnt use them as she feels they are just "filler". THe day of, there were so much green sprays (of which were the hydrangea flowers) that were OLD leaves and the arrangements did not justify the monies i spent on each at all. I felt REALLY JYPED. Remind you, I spent a signifcant amount on flowers and from the demo had certain expectations, the result was just the opposite. I felt that there were spots on some of the lower centerpieces that were completely bald and missing flowers. I felt some were pulled cus she ran out of flowers and stuck them in teh small bud vases aroudn the main centerpieces cus she just ran out of flowers. They were sparse. The plate that the flowers were sitting on, on top of my candleabras were SHOWING. She said at teh demo they would not be. My feathers in my bouquet were coming out a few min before the ceremony, the groomsman boutineers and mother of groom boutineers were wrong. I specifically told her not to use roses for them and was supposed to get 2 mini orchids and i got just the ugly rose that I did not want. I also had some small bud vases at the base of the candleabra that she charged me for and for the amount of flowers, those were definetely not of value either---- the flowers were so little. I order flowers all the time for work, and make arrangements myself. I know how much flowers cost and how much X dollors buy you. I did address all these issues to renee and she skipped around the obvious mistakes. She said the old leaves wehre the natural color of the hyrdrangea. even if natural, they are old and do not belong in ANY arrangement. Why would any floral designer put old flowers in any arrangement? She was there the entire day and should have noticed the base plate showing yet she did nothing, and she personally pinned the groom boutineer on him and he told me later that she said "oh this is wrong". She did find and rent some candleabras for me but due to her poor project management and logistics skills, she had to pay an additional $150 for them to be delivered that i think she didnt realize and tried to sneak into my invoice last minute after me already paying her over $250 in delivery charges!!! Sneaky really! Good thing i am detailed, yes? I really felt she took this monies and discounted the amount of flowers that she gave me at the wedding..and then some.... her husband, who came af the conclusion of the event to collect the reamidner items from her, was also rude to my event planner- in front of me. COmpletely unprofessional. A pro- my beautiful crystal candleabrass and the flowers did look good on film- i guess that is all that counts now!! Renee is a nice lady, but I really felt like i could have gone to another florist, spent a lot less and got way more, and the process have a lot less anguish.- ANGUISH in caps!! I booked Reina (and her team) for my wedding and they did not disappoint! I worked with Reina briefly in the past and have followed her work and when it was time to plan my own wedding she was one of very few I reached out to for a quote. I am so happy we went with her! Reina listened to what I envisioned when I first met her and her and her team executed everything beautifully for the wedding. I spoke to her team quite a few times via email regarding changes I made to flowers and the request order. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. I met with Reina herself twice during the whole planning process (a first meeting with brainstorming and photos and the second time over coffee onsite at the venue for a walk through with a visual/floral bouquet). The bouquet was beautiful and I was able to make changes and talk to her then in more detail. The flowers and decor for the actual wedding day this past October turned our better than I could have imagined and my husband and I were very happy with how everything turned out. Reina was recommended to me by the chef who made my wedding cake. He had said that she was his favorite florist to work with. I sent her a message and provided pictures of what I wanted exactly. She let me know what was in season and what she would be able to do within my budget. Everything was delivered on time and looked gorgeous. It was exactly what I had envisioned. She made 1 bridal bouquet. 1 boutonniere, 3 centerpieces for the reception, and flowers for the wedding cake. I could not have been any happier! I did have some communication problems with one of Reina's assistants when I first messaged them in September. She never emailed me back about questions that I had. However, when I re-messaged them in May, I didn't have any problems at all and everything was extremely smooth. I'm sure that if I was more adamant about getting my questions answered right away, they would have done it. Also, I live in Los Angeles. With the wedding in Carmel and very little time to go up north to meet with Reina, I'm impressed how well everything went and how closely she replicated the photos I sent her. My husband and I worked with Reina for our wedding this past September, and she was fantastic! She has the perfect blend of knowledge/experience and customer customization. Reina has done a lot of weddings and was able to recommend the perfect assortment of flowers for the colors/experience we were looking for. More importantly though, what I liked about Reina above all the other florists was her ability to customize based on customer preferences and styles. I think Reina is the best florist on the Peninsula, hands down. Not only does she listen to your thoughts and ideas for the wedding, she executes flawlessly. Reina took my ideas and transformed them into something better than I could have even imagined. What really set Reina apart from the other florists I researched (many) was that she was completely willing to work within whatever budget I gave her. Some florists would have not taken on a job for a small budget. Reina, however, came up with creative ways to cut down on costs. I can't say enough good things about Reina. As for the 1 star review on here, I wonder about this reviewer's communication skills when she repeatedly mis-spells a common word. For my May wedding, Reina created beautiful flowers. I sent her a few photos as a guide and told her I wanted everything to be very loose, very "just scooped these up while I was running through the meadow," and she heard me loud and clear, and she delivered. The finished product was unbelievably beautiful; people were commenting on them all day and for days afterward. Reina was mindful of my budget. I told her I couldn't spend more than $1400, and it would have to include 7 bridesmaid bouquets, a bridal bouquet, 4 mother/grandmother boutonnieres, 3 father/grandfather boutonnieres, and 5 groomsmen boutonnieres, plus blooms and candles for 36 tables, plus aisle decorations! We stayed on budget and the finished product was outstanding. I don't know why people don't speak more frankly about budgeting with weddings; isn't that helpful information? For less than $1500, I got all this, plus glass terrariums that hung from the ceiling's hanging wagon wheel. She is the best deal in town, and nothing she does seemed cheap or slipshod. The lack of a fifth star is not Reina's doing. I had some major communication issues with her assistants. I can look past the occasional spelling error or typo, of course, but when you're planning a wedding and there are consistent issues with, say, the spelling of your own name, or confirmation of incorrect appointment times, or incorrect invoices, that gets troubling. Just a few days before the wedding, I was getting emails from Reina's assistant Michelle asking me for crucial details like timeline info (when flowers should be at the venue, etc.). This is not the kind of thing you want to be double checking three days before the wedding, especially when someone else has been hired to do this for you, and that person has done their job. When I responded that my coordinator had surely taken care of this, and CC'd my coordinator (read: "Don't contact me with this stuff again; contact her,"), the assistant responded that she was new to the business ("a newbie," she said), and hadn't realized I'd been working with a coordinator, and could my coordinator send the timeline again? Mistakes happen, but that's just unprofessional -- it's the kind of thing that makes you go, "I hope I didn't make a huge mistake with this vendor; they clearly don't have it together." But again, everything came out gorgeous and perfect. If we're only judging the final product and the price, five stars would absolutely be the deserved rating. And the minor stress of the miscommunication that preceded it was, in the end, well worth it. read more

I was hosting a baby shower luncheon at Tarpy's for my daughter this past weekend and wanted to have a few flower arrangements for the tables. I had seen Reina's work before at other events over the years and was impressed with her artistry. Just so you know, Reina has created some of the most beautiful, artistic and original arrangements I have ever seen. While these were quite beautiful, I wanted something a little more traditional. My point in mentioning this is that Reina can be as traditional as you want but also has the artistic eye to be quite avant garde and forward thinking as well. I told Reina we had our heart set on peonies. Unfortunately, they are not in season and to get them would be quite expensive. Since I was on somewhat of a budget we decided not to have peonies. Reina said she could achieve the same look with Yves Piaget roses. I looked them up on line and, sure enough, they were very close in look to peonies. After much discussion and a number of changes (due to no fault of Reina's), we decided on six arrangements of white hydrangeas and pink Yves Piaget roses for the dining tables. Since Tarpy's has a large mantel on the fireplace, we also asked for a garland of greenery and roses. I was also going to put picture frames in amongst the garland along with candles. At the last minute we changed our mind regarding the picture frames and decided not to use them. We told this to Reina and she said she would see what she could do. The day of the shower arrived and I was to meet Reina's at the restaurant. Reina had a wedding that afternoon as well in Monterey. I was to meet Reina at 9 am to set-up the flowers and then she would go on to Monterey for the wedding. We had been undergoing days of a miserable heat wave and due to this, Reina had to make some adjustments to the wedding flowers for that afternoon (again, not her fault--she can't control the weather!). They called and asked if I could meet them at the restaurant at 11:30 which was actually much better for me. Reina's assistant arrived earlier than me and when I walked in, the flowers were all on the tables. They were gorgeous. They far-exceeded my expectations. Her assistant was setting up the garland and it was spectacular. Again, more beautiful than expected. In addition to what I had ordered, Reina had four vases of hydrangeas on the mantel to replace the picture frames I decided not to use. She also had a bouquet of hydrangeas in a beautiful mercury glass vase on the dessert table. These five arrangements were given to us without charge. I was stunned to say the least. She really wanted the shower to look beautiful and it certainly did. Everyone was commenting on how beautiful the "peonies" looked! I would recommend Reina for any kind of event you would host. This was a small shower but she did a beautiful job. I know she has done very large weddings and other events as well. Large or small, Reina gives her all to ensure that the event turns out beautifully. Thanks to Reina and her staff for ensuring this special day for my daughter's first baby turned out so well. They said the date we wanted was open and they were going to give us a proposal but they didn't respond back to us for about a month, with no proposal, letting us know the date was booked. Reina is a true artist and a delightful person. Her floral designs for my wedding in August 2015 far exceeded my expectations. My family and friends not only appropriately ooed and aahed over the table arrangements and altar-area build, they practically fought over the centerpieces at the end of the day. I met with Reina one time before my wedding for a demo, during which she gained my complete trust by demonstrating a real understanding of what I had in mind. I wanted succulents, and Reina was filled with amazing ideas for making my vision come to life. The day of the wedding, she showed up early to put everything into place with her fantastic team. I was completely stunned by the beauty of the designs. Reina's not afraid to put arrangements in trees, and she generously stuck around and took some of the items designated for the ceremony and repurposed them for the reception. Reina came recommended to me by my wedding planner, and I'm so glad I took the recommendation! I had already hunted around a bit, and found Reina's prices to be on par with others in the area. I also found Reina to be far more responsive, and generally more personable than anyone else I contacted. Reina was our florist extraordinaire for our wedding at Holman Ranch (Carmel Valley, CA) in March 2016. Reina is incredibly creative and a true professional. Our flowers were STUNNING and she completely helped to execute my vision, and improve upon it! When we met Reina, we did so at our venue and Reina was prepared with arrangements she had put together based on an initial phone conversation and some pinterest photos. I was surprised that she brought actual arrangements, but having them there for the walk through was incredibly helpful and gave us confidence that Reina was the right florist for our wedding. I loved my bridal bouquet, as well as the bridesmaid bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, flowers to decorate the cake, and other floral decorations. I am the mother of the groom that had the fortunate experience to plan and implement the wedding for my son as his fiancé and her mother were in France. My experience with Reina was incredible and people are still telling me it was the most beautiful wedding they have seen. Maybe the negative review was written by a bride who was never pleased regardless and her communication skills inadequate. I had totally the opposite experience. The flowers were perfect in every way and her suggestions were creative and spot on. I had no significant problems with her invoices and she was always good to send them via e-mail for review and any corrections were made before the event. Reina and her assistants were cordial and prompt. The bride's bouquet, boutonnieres, bridesmaid flowers, flower girls' flowers and headbands were beyond beautiful. The flowers for the banquet tables were fresh and amazing as were the flowers adorning the aisle chairs for the wedding ceremony.
