I took this tour while vacationing in Vero Beach and had a great time! Thankfully I called in advance to make a reservation. I was very grateful that I did because I made a lot of assumptions about the available times of the tour. I assumed that the tour could be taken throughout the day but was informed that the weather determined if tours could be given. There were also quite a few tours operating in the area but from what I could see ours was the most exciting. The ride itself was fast and exciting without being too scary unlike the other tour operators who just cruised along slowly. I think younger people or those looking for a exciting ride would definitely prefer the Florida cracker airboat ride. The tour was also very educational. Captain Lawrence also made sure that we saw lots of alligators as well as their babies and other area wildlife. read more

I don't care how many times I go on Florida cracker airboat every single time I totally get different view of blue Cypress Lake. One reason I go on the boat so so often is because I make sure when family come to visit that's one of the attractions that we do. Captain Lawrence is the best at what he does he get you up close and personal just like today we saw over 200 alligators very active in the water. We had a great experience riding the Florida Cracker Airboat while visiting Vero Beach for the weekend. Captain Lawrence was very friendly, funny and handsome. LOL He made sure our adventure was entertaining and educational. We saw quite a few alligators big and small. We actually saw two alligators wrestling but it didn't last long once they heard the noise of the airboat. We wore headphones which were clear to hear Captain Lawrence as he guided us through the wetlands. The ride was excited when we rode off fast and that breeze felt great against your face especially since it was very hot the day we went. The fee for this tour was worth every penny and you will not be disappointed with cutey pie Captain Lawrence. read more

This is the second time we have toured with Lawrence. The last time was two years ago and we had a two year old then. He was very patient with all four kids of our kids. Since the younger kids didn't really remember the ride, we decided to go again. It was just as great this time. Lawrence knows his stuff and obviously cares about the area and the wildlife. His passion comes through in his presentation. He tailored his talk to our group and did a wonderful job. There are now a bunch of operators in this area but the others seem too flashy and touristy for the natural beauty and grace of this place. I would recommend FL Cracker. read more

Okay, peeps, I'm not even going to address how uncomfortable the name makes me. I'm not sure what to say about that one. Weird business name aside, this was a really fun way to explore a little bit of local flavor in the area - as Captain Lawrence is proud to tell you, there really is an Lycoming airplane engine at the back of his boat, and man you will know it when the boat takes off. It's just plain fun. The engine makes a lot of noise, but everyone wears headsets, so you can hear each other during the whole ride. The captain makes a great guide, too; he's been in the area his whole life and he knows a lot about the wildlife and the marsh. The only thing I'd say about airboat rides is that the noise can sometimes scare off animals, especially the birds like the egrets and ospreys. Don't get me wrong, we saw plenty of them, and he pulled right up next to mama alligator guarding her nest, but if you want a more intimate view, I'd recommend a pontoon tour. read more

What a fantastic experience! This morning our group of 8 (4 adults, 4 kids) took an airboat tour with Florida Cracker. Captain Lawrence narrated the entire tour. He is incredibly knowledgeable and funny and kept everyone's interest. In addition to the many birds (including ospreys, egrets, herons, anhingas), we saw plenty of alligators up close, which was a real treat. We had a great time with Chandler today, he was very knowledgeable, great with kids and had a good sense of humor. We were late getting there and they were very nice about waiting for us. I checked out some of the other airboat rides and this definitely the best bang for the buck and kids 5 and under are free where as most of the others are kids 5 and older are same price as adults. We were out for a little over an hour and saw some alligators, turtles and lots of cool birds. At the end of the ride he gave our daughter a cool necklace with an alligator vertebrae on it. If we are ever in the area again we will chose this company and request Chandler. read more

Our tour with Florida Cracker was wonderful. I went with my mom (early 60s) and her friend and we all had a great time. Capt. Lawrence was personable, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. My boyfriend and I were vacationing in Stuart, and decided to make the trip to Vero Beach to experience a Florida Cracker Airboat Ride. We were not disappointed, it was a blast! Captain Lawrence, aside from being a really nice guy, is also great at what he does. He grew up in the area, and has been doing this since he was a kid. His experience and knowledge of the area and wildlife are really obvious, and we were glad we listened to the other reviewers and reserved with him. When you arrive at the meeting spot for the tour, make sure you look for the right boat. Most of the operators are honest and will point you in the right direction, but there is one guy who evidently thinks it's ok to try and lure customers who have already reserved with other tours. Stick with Captain Lawrence, you won't be disappointed! read more

Contacted Florida Cracker Airboat Ride for reservations (you must reserve your spot and not just show up expecting to get on board), and Captain Lawrence took us on a most exciting tour. We'd seen his tour touted as "rated #1," and we were not disappointed. We saw lots of plant and animal life. We did not see many big male alligators as this happened to be mating season and the gators were "on the move" looking for a mate. Highly recommend this experience! read more

Captain Lawrence Kyzer knows his wildlife! Our family drove up to Vero Beach on a recommendation to take the Florida Cracker tour. Our Capt, an area native, explained the history of the land itself, took us to the territory of alligators and birds (nesting ospreys!) explaining what each was and their habits. The wildlife biologist in our group was tremendously impressed with the wealth of information we were presented. I was particularly impressed with how the Capt addressed our group- we were children, adults and seniors, he managed to connect with us all. We were thoroughly briefed on boat safety, equipped with high tech life vests and 2 way headphones. All of our questions were addressed, we came home with GREAT photos- that man can maneuver a boat. read more
