If you get "too many" WU transfers, they interrogate you and require proof as to why you need the money. ONE EXAMPLE: I was denied a $220 WU from my boyfriend's mom, who was sending money almost daily to help cover the enormous vet bills for our sick dog (spider bite). We know- she is awesome, but I digress... The "manager" behind the counter asked "why doesn't she just send it all at once?" I said the totals varied daily based on the healing process. She said I needed to provide an invoice from my vet as proof. Unfortunately I don't just carry vet bills around in my back pocket. I offered pics of Bella in her cast, but she just laughed. Frankly, it's none of their business why someone is sending me money- even if they send it everyday. As to why she was sending money to me, and not my boyfriend? He recently misplaced his license and is in process of replacing it. Company policy is they can decline the WU if they believe the money is going to be given to someone else, like my boyfriend. I tried explaining it was payment to the vet, but to no avail. I was embarrassed and somehow made to feel guilty that I was getting money transfers. Pissed and empty-handed, I took my business to Walgreens, who processed my request with no trouble and no questions asked. I even told them I may be back everyday for a while, and their response was "no problem, see you tomorrow." As a side note, my boyfriend and I did go back to Amscot later the same day to show them the original surgery invoice and file a formal complaint. No surprise the manager "just stepped out on break" and the only decent employee was left to apologize his way around her bad customer service. Don't waste your time going to Amscot; they aren't helpful, and their smugness and judgement is insufferable.

I was going to list the eight phone numbers provided by Google and the internet and the locations setup to take requests to send money but it's an exercise in futility trying to reach customer service. The President, Chief Executive Officer and Director Mr. David McGranahan should be aware of the impossibility of reaching customer service on any of the eight numbers listed and Western Union seems to have joined the ranks of other companies with no regard for customer service. His cost saving measure to replace individuals or a call center with AI, is driving customers to other resources. He must have trained AI to disregard the word, "representative" and respond by hanging up, directing a caller to the company website or repeating the same four items that do not address the problem. What a shame that as President of a worldwide brand name the company has resorted to a lack of sufficient humans who can provide service to faithful customers. Some day if he has a few hours to kill he might attempt to call one or all of his customer service numbers. When he fails at that project he might check the reviews for his company on platforms such as Google Reviews, Yelp or Consumer Affairs where he will find the company has attained a 1.5 out of 5 on Yelp and the comments of dissatisfied customers might give him some advice and insight on what is wrong with the customer service and other customer issues.
