I had extensive damage to my home from Hurricane Irma. My insurance company only stated $8k worth…read moreof damage but because my deductable was so high they sent me a check for $3k! I couldn't even get them to return my phone call for 3 months! I didn't know what to do so I hired an insurance adjuster to fight the claim. After 6 mths of fighting they said my insurance company was too difficult and would drag it out so they gave up and dropped my case. After 6 months I was back at square 1! I had given up and paid just over $22k in repairs out of my pocket. I randomly met Fred from Five Star Claims at my sisters work function. I told him what happened to me and he said to contact him because and I'll never forget what he said "they don't give up on their clients"! He was right! They fought and fought! They kept me informed and never gave up! About eighteen months later the insurance company settled. Central Florida has no say whatever, so let's not shoot the messenger. I will start by saying that I have been using this company for years for my home owners insurance…read more In December I was informed that my my home owners policy would not be renewed because Florida Peninsula was reducing their exposure to hurricanes and other perils. LOL.. So I contacted the Insurance Center of Central Florida and was given the representative Amy. She informed me that I would need a 4-point Inspection. I got one on 12-14-2021and it was emailed to Amy immediately. Amy said that I would probably have to go with Citizens insurance. Knowing and having my 4- point, she let me know that I would have to wait until 30 days before my expiration on 3-38-2022 to submit for a quote or it will expire. She let me know that she would get in touch with me then. Then on 3-1-2022 she calls me and informs me that I have "cloth wiring" in my house and that NO ONE would cover me ... sorry.... This sent me into a tailspin. NO ONE will cover my house!!! Calling around I found another agent that told me that Citizens does cover cloth wiring as long as it does not have knob and tube wiring. Which my house does not have and clearly stated on the 4- point. BUT...... the roof has to have at least a 3 year life left on it to be considered. Which my garage roof only has 2, which again was clearly stated on my 4-point. Now because of Amy's negligence in informing me knowing that I was going to have to get Citizens and knowing my roof would not pass, I am now forced to come up with the money in a 25 days to get my roof done. If I was told back in December I would have had time to come up with the money. Plus, in December, it was off season for roofer and may have gotten a cheaper price. But now, they are coming into season and it may take a month to get the work done. This all could have been prevented if Amy would have done her job and looked at my 4- point and done her research of the policy. I am very very upset. I will NEVER use them again. And you should not either.

After going to State Farm, All State, and a few other major places for homeowner's quotes, I decided to look up a broker and gave him a call. He got me insured through Metlife for a lot less than State Farm quoted me. We also switched our auto insurance over when he gave us a quote through Safeco that was half as much as we were paying with State Farm (he says Safeco is one of the cheapest major insurer in Chicago). Outside of the great rates he finds as a result of being a broker, his service is excellent. He's in Berwyn but I've never needed to go to his office. He's very on top of e-mail and on the phone and follows up on things... He gets me what I need when I need, makes good suggestions, etc.
