Went here recently on the recommendation of several friends. We went on a Monday when ladies shoot for free. From the moment we walked in the staff were attentive ,helpful., and personal. They have a good selection of guns and accessories. They showed us the introduction film and we were quickly on the range. The range was air conditioned and had ample space in each stall. We were felt rushed and appreciated the relaxed atmosphere. There are several stalls to choose from and you are close to the person shooting next to you which was a little noisy when the place started to fill up. This is a smaller shop with a range. The prices are decent for the current climate and all of the staff was wonderful to work with. I felt welcome and comfortable. This has not been the case at other ranges in the area such as shoot straight with their rude demeanor and price gauging which is why I drove from Clearwater to this shop instead. Range fees are $16 and if you want to rent before you buy, rentals are $15 for 1 or $30 for multiples. I did a Groupon that they offered for $30 multiple rentals, eyewear and earwear plus a target. Includes your range fee. Ammo is additional obviously. Mask required. Must be a current gun owner to be on the range or bring somebody with you who is. If you are a newbee PLEASE inform yourself of gun etiquette before entering. Since the dawn of time or at least the dawn of my life, you have always been required to unload your gun BEFORE entering any shop or range. Don't forget the one in the chamber. NEVER point a gun in somebodies direction even if empty and always hand it back butt first. And finally, clean up your brass before leaving. Located off of 580 just outside of Oldsmar. I first took a concealed weapons class here, Kevin was a great instructor and I felt very comfortable and left with so much more information than I came in with! My cousin hadn't pre registered for the class yet they allowed him to take the class, thank you for the service! Had a membership for the range for 3 years. at florida firearms and it never really felt safe. Unlike the bigger ranges, shooters world etc. There was no safety in the back. Inexperienced shooters rental shooters and thoughts of discharges or just someone shooting you in the back of the head was stressful. Shooters world is busy and the have 4 or 5 armed employees saying dont go here or over there. They are not allowed to be behind you.. Fist time here... A friend wanted to go shooting and told me he had been here before and that it was a decent place to shoot. Florida Firearms Academy advertises that they are open until 5pm on Sundays. We arrived at 4 pm and were told the range is CLOSED! They had a shooting tournament that was supposed to start at 5 but they decided to let them start at 4:30. The employees were cleaning up the range for the tourney shooters. We drove almost half an hour to go shooting here. The store personnel did not care that we drove that far and were being turned away. They suggested we go to another place in Tampa that would have been almost ANOTHER half hour away. I went there to sight in a shotgun and a pistol i set up three 8 inch targets side by side to check the patton at 40 feet using double ott 8 pellet 12 gauge i fired rapid fired left to right one shot per target i returned the targets to the firing line to inspect and i was reprimanded for the spread because i rapid fired the women RO!!! Assumed i was missing the target. NO DECORUM! AND SAFFETY ISSUES! I loaded a 9mm pistol and chambered a round. From behind me in a drill sergeant tone i hear the women say step back not knowing what's going on i put my gun down the women and a man proceeded to enter the firing range to repair target trollies with a HOT GUN on the bench they were there 15 minutes This women needs TRAINING!!!! Came here on a Wednesday which they have BOGO range fees for couples ($15) my wife and I came and brought our own guns and ammo. Otherwise i seen online that you could rent them for $30 for the two of us. The targets are only $1 and have a large variety to choose from. They were out of a couple targets and the checking in was a little chaotic but no big deal. The range itself is a little darker than shoot straight and they have air blowing on you which couldn't be moved so a little cold. You can rent glasses and headphones if you don't have your own. This place is a little hidden if you have never been and in with the warehouses. read more

I've been to ffa quite a few times and I find myself coming back because of the atmosphere and quality of the people here. The staff is very knowledgeable and personable. The range itself isn't the nicest I've been but it suits the job. Prices are reasonable and I love the fact that ffa gives u freedom. Meaning U don't have a range officer picking on every little thing u do. I practice safe range ethics and I've brought friends and family with me and show them the proper way to handle firearms and range safety tips. I knew nothing about guns, Dom explained how guns work, taught me how to load a magazine, hold the gun properly, what the sight should look like when aiming at a target , he was thorough and detailed . I had decided I wanted to learn the proper way to shoot a fire arm so I went online and found Florida Firearms Academy. I saw on their website that they had a class women's class starting the next week so I signed up. I had the pleasure of being taught by Miss Rose. I found her to be very knowledgeable. The two hour class flew by. When it was time for shooting I have to admit I was scared. Miss Rose certainly has a lot of patience when it came to me. I was given my certificate which I took and promptly went to get my gun permit. I knew I needed more shooting practice so I decided to call Miss Rose and set up a private lesson. I'm a newbie to the world of firearms, so I bought a Groupon package for my bf and I to try out a day of shooting at this range. It's a great deal because it included protective ear/eyewear, our own lane for the day and the ability to swap out our gun as many times as we wanted. We only had to purchase the bullets. The staff was extremely friendly and we liked that it seemed to be a predominantly female-run business. They gave us clear directions and were very helpful whenever we had questions. We got to try a couple of rifles and three handguns of varying sizes, which can be advantageous when you're trying to decide which gun works best for you. They have a lounge area for when you need a break, a gun cleaning facility and a calendar of classes and events where you can learn, get your permit, etc. Monday is Ladies Night, which I think means that you can get your range fees waived! read more

I visited this range while visiting from out of town. I am a new shooter, and they were very accommodating. First off, the pricing was great: $15 for unlimited range time. Second, the range seems to be safety focused; they have a great system for showing you the rules with a short video instead of giving you a bunch of text that's easy to gloss over! After checking in and going out to the lanes, I began shooting. After a while, a fellow shooter offered to give me some pointers, which I greatly appreciated. In the front is the retail section; they have plenty of firearms for rental, and many new and used handguns on sale. One thing that they did not stock much of was revolvers; this seems to be a semi auto preferred place. All in all, everyone there was very friendly. The store was clean and fairly priced. Got my gun shooting cherry popped at FFA and I must say that I have absolutely no regrets choosing this place as my first time. I walked in and was instantly greeted by a nice young brunette girl who was extremely helpful and welcoming from the get go. I explained to her that it was my first time ever shooting a gun. She was nice enough to take the time to walk me through the parts of the gun, shooting technique, gun safety rules/regulations, and answered every question I had. It was little more pricey than I expected but friend who i went with said its about on par with other ranges Price Break Down: 1) Range fee unlimited time for my girlfriend and I $15 each = 30 2) Unlimited gun rental fee $30. The single gun rental was 15 bucks but I decided to with the unlimited which allowed me to take out one gun at a time to try them all out = 30 3) 50 rounds of 9mm ammo $16 bucks x 2 = 32 4) Targets, goggles, and ear muff rentals @ 1 dollar each ~$10 TOTAL = $100+ for about 2 hours of shooting All in all, I had a great time at FFA and came away impressed by their customer service. Only thing keeping me from giving 5 star rating is the fact that I spent 100 bucks. I wish it wasn't as pricey but I guess shooting is just expensive in general. Regardless, I'll definitely be back after I buy my own gun and ammo which might cut down on pricing a little bit.
