So to start with this place is actually Halifax Health Center for Oncology. The good, the people…read moreare pleasant. The bad, there is no urgency of any kind here. I find the office is incredibly incompetent and their response to emergencies is negligent. The longest we have sat in a waiting room is 5 hours. Yes you read that correctly, 5 hours and 20 minutes before being treated. The quickest we have ever been seen is over 2 hours after the appointment time. That's the wait to start treatment and we didn't see the doctor that day. I find this incredibly inconsiderate considering the nature of the visit. I am now writing this review having waited 1 hour for a 9:15 appointment. It is inconceivable to think they are 1 hour behind with their 2nd appointment for the day. With the average wait time past appointment time being 3 hours I can no longer do this. Multiple times the staff has forgotten to schedule labs and sent authorizations to facilities with apparently no consequence. Everything is your fault here. This office appears to be a self service office. When you leave it's YOUR job to check with the staff to make sure they sent the labs the authorizations. It's your job to ensure that the scanning facility has the correct request in. The doctor whom I want to like but struggle to do so continually throws the death card around seemingly aS punishment if you complain about anything. "We are just trying to save your life here" or my favorite, "if you don't like it, GO". Compassion was apparently not a requirement for this position. Rest assured we will be moving to a different treatment facility. I should have read the reviews before going here. Hopefully this review will encourage management to make the changes that need to be made. This place is a train wreck. Update 2 hours now. Still no Dr. Waiting..........2 1/2 hours. Still waiting...,,,

Our family is incredibly grateful for the care and compassion we received at this rehab center…read more The medical team was attentive and professional, and the therapists went above and beyond to help our loved one remain comfortable. What truly stood out was how they cared not just for the patient, but for all of us--checking in, offering reassurance, and making sure we never felt alone during a difficult time. The facility was clean, organized, and welcoming, and the environment felt safe and uplifting. We can't thank the team enough for the compassion and excellence they showed our family. If I could give this place a ZERO review, I would. On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, my mom, Michelle…read morewas ill but told by Advent Hospital in Deltona she was on the mend and needed breathing rehabilitation. The representative from Select, Trevor, bragged extensively on how great Select and its staff was. SO FAR FROM THE TRUTH. Not to mention, the facility in and of itself, looked like a group home for degenerates. Outdated and didn't appear clean. My mom's room had supplies everywhere thrown about. Her personal bathroom was used as a janitor closet; mop bucket etc. The staff, sorry to even say this, as I'm not racist, have bi-racial children, and a looOOong list of mixed friends BUT, half the staff didn't speak English or were extremely unprofessional arguing with each other in front of patients and visitors. Mind blown, disgusting. From the moment my mother arrived, she was left unattended. I know everything to be fact bc, I never left her side. I slept there. She was transferred to Select in the early evening hours, perhaps 5ish. By the time I was allowed back to see her, she looked worse than when transported. Left to lie in her hospital bed uncomfortable and over-heated. Not even propped up comfortably! She had just come from the ICU at Advent where she was hospitalized from 11/28-12/16 and was monitored extensively; her blood pressure, diabetes, breathing, Co2 levels, medications etc on a 24 hour round the clock atmosphere to Select where the nurses took nearly 2 hours to come and speak to her. She hadn't eaten due to the transfer, and they hadn't even come in to check her sugar levels! When a nurse finally did come in, I offered my opinion and then explained all the medications and monitoring my mom had been on just hours earlier. Explained my concerns with her not being on a better blood pressure monitor, they had a cuff that was wrapped around her calf and ONLY went off when staff pressed the button. Told the nurse my mom was a newly diagnosed diabetic and she needed be checked. The nurse fumbled through her notes and then gave my mom medication for everything except sugar. I told her she needed to crush the medication as my mom was currently unable to swallow anything hard and was on a puree diet. Guess she didn't read that in her notes! I told her she needed to eat, she said the kitchen was closed because by now, it was 8 o'clock at night! She managed to find soup to which I fed my mother bc by now, she was weak AGAIN and unable to even feed herself!!! STILL, didn't check Co2 levels nor her sugar! She explained to me that by the time the patient arrives at Select, treatment wasn't so extensive, that went over well with me as you can imagine! Through the night, I couldn't sleep. I was so concerned with the quick deterioration within hours of arriving, it was impossible. The next day, 12/17, it was time for breakfast and no one had come asking for meal requests. I spoke to a nurse who said, the patient was expected to phone the kitchen and make their own requests! I called the kitchen where I placed an order. I attempted to order the remainder of the days meals and was told, the patient has to call before every meal! My mother can barely move, can't feed herself, the staff and kitchen are unaware she's on a diabetic pureed diet, the phone is located ACROSS the room being held in some container on the wall...totally unreachable even if my mom would've been semi functionable. MY GOD...what if I wasn't there? My stepfather relieved me. When I arrived back, just 5 hours later, I noticed my mom was slurring her words and she appeared delusional. My stepfather told me she was given Xanax shortly after I left due to her being panicked. I'm not a doctor but, if you use a medication for the intended purpose, it DOESN'T make you "high". Still, it was 4 or 5 hours LATER!! Then, I ordered her dinner. Meanwhile, I have zero clue what I'm supposed to be feeding my mother with regards to her diabetic issues, her sugar isn't being monitored, and I'm just performing on a wing and prayer!! She barely ate. I noticed her eyes were yellow. I voiced my concerns to the new nurse, all my concerns regarding ALL she had been through and what wasn't being done for her. She did nothing, although she definitely looked concerned, I could see it in her eyes! She left. The nicest staff Select had was a CNA. She helped me settle in night one, got me a pillow and sheet. Let me help bathe my mom for the last time. Got me an icy I fed my mom for the last time! By 3am on 12/18 I woke up to my mom knocked out, mouth breathing, she was off her bipap machine and oxygen was up to 80 (was at 40) bc the breathing tech (when I found her) said my mom said so; my yellow eyed delusional mother said so! FINALLY, they checked Co2 levels and my mom was dying! She was intubated and moved to Advent 12/18 where she died on December 20, 2025. Shame on Select and their staff!
