The box arrived before Christmas just as promised. With shipping during the cold months I was concerned that the fruit would be damaged, but my concerns were for nothing. My mother & I ordered a box of navel oranges, mandarin oranges, and grapefruit as part of a fund raiser for my nephew (who lives in NY). Being from Arizona, we love citrus and we're happy to being able to support my nephew since we don't live close. When the box arrived, the grapefruits were rotting (to the point of being mushy). The mandarin oranges had extremely thick skin (I couldn't peal them) and were flavorless. Same went for the navel oranges. Obviously the fruit was picked too early or it was entirely leftover fruit. My mother reached out to the company and they offered a $9.62 refund for a $35 box of fruit (plus $10 in shipping) , or they would give my nephew's school the $9.62 refund, or they would send a new box of navel oranges that probably be tasteless as well. What a joke! Safe yourself the trouble and just give the money directly to the school. Next time, we will just go into our yard and pick the fruit off our trees. read more

I ordered the fruit basket for my mother who is turning 90. She loves oranges and grapefruits. I should have read the reviews before placing the order as my experience was similar to what most people reported: at least a third of the fruit were already rotting. In addition, the fruit that wasn't rotten was largely flavorless, which typically comes from picking them too early. Either the people picking the fruit were not trained properly, or the fruit was what was left over from having picked out the good fruit. Don't order through this company! read more

I just now received my oranges from a band fundraiser, in Apex NC. I have ordered from fruit sales in the past and been pleased so I was looking forward to extra juicy sweet oranges. One of the oranges had a rotten side on it. In addition, the oranges are very small. Less than 6 oz. Finally I thought I would taste one thinking at least they will b sweet and again I was disappointed. The flavor is just not there. Thankfully not sour, but nothing that makes you go WOW (which is the only reason to pay the premium price) That is why I am disappointed - not just because of the rotten one, not just because they are small, but on top of that they are very average tasting. read more

Terrible fruit. Navel oranges were so fiberes couldn't even chew. There was no flavor. Tasted like water.Would never recommend to anyone !!!

I purchased a full box of navel oranges through a fund raiser as I hv for years. This time the oranges were inedible, bitter and tasted as though they were rotting from inside out. Contacted the company regarding their "satisfaction guarantee". Picked up on Tues, called Thurs. Told them I had tried 6 oranges of the approx 80 in the box. Received an email saying that of my $45 purchase, I was entitled to a $30 refund. Exactly how does their mathematical calculation work?? 2 were edible but tasteless, 4 were horrific and left a nasty taste when biting into the fruit. Those obviously were discarded and it took forever to get the foul taste from my mouth. Although no mold was evident, that's what the taste was like. I am a senior citizen on fixed income. $45 for a box of fruit I had to take to the landfill along with my garbage is a large portion of my monthly food budget. Buyer beware-the satisfaction guarantee is nothing but a flowery group of words, those 2 tasteless (but edible) oranges just cost $15 plus the gas for a 45 mile round trip to pick up the fruit. No thanks, the sub-par oranges at my local grocery store are looking much, much more attractive. At least the grocer would stand behind a product selected from their shelves. UPDATE: Still no refund although the owner's records "SHOW" I received a full refund. I suppose there is no sense of urgency. Another disappointment from this company. read more

They also said they can't drop it at our delivery location because.... ?? No one knows! Apparently they think we are all waiting around with nothing to do. We were very unhappy with the navel oranges we received through our band's fruit sale. The oranges were very small except for one regular-sized one, and there were only eleven of them, whereas the order photo clearly showed a dozen good-sized ones. I called my parents, to whom we sent the same item, and the box was similarly disappointing. I will have to call the other eight families to whom we sent gifts to apologize. This is very embarrassing. When we called your business our calls were never answered on any of the days we called; we were on hold for over an hour before we gave up. We saw on Yelp we were to contact our band about a remedy. This is wholly unacceptable. Parents will not burden their nonprofits with requests to correct the problem. Your company is clearly taking advantage of our families and band with this policy. Many years ago we ordered band fruit and were very pleased. I am not sure we could recommend this fundraiser again. If your company is having difficulty with harvests because of climate change, please include a note to that effect with the fruit and we will be more understanding. If you have difficulty getting workers because of the pandemic, you need to increase your quality control. Again a note would be helpful. As it is, we are very disappointed. read more

Very disappointed. Ordered through a local HS Band and received a mixed orange/grapefruit box. Didn't expect the oranges to be Jumbo navels, but these are pathetic. They are closer to the size of a tangerine once peeled and don't have that bright orange flavor. They are also fairly dry for an orange with thick segment walls that are very bitter. The bitterness of the segment walls and pith overwhelms your pallette. Can't believe you advertise that you have "legendary quality". Glad the person I am supporting through this program is doing it for the last year. I should have just given her the money straight up. read more

I ordered 2 trays of Naval oranges as a courtesy to my neighbor to aid their child's fundraiser. I waited approximately 1month to received my order.During the waiting process, I spoke several time both by email and phone calls, to several representative at Florida India River Groves. I was assured each time that the oranges were picked, packed and shipped fresh just hours after coming off the tree! which is also stated and promised in their mission statement. However, when I received my shipment of oranges, it was quite the opposite, which quite frankly left a sour taste in my mouth. Oranges were soft and oozing liquid, there was a foul sour smell coming from inside box when opened. fruit was showing discoloration and much more. In order to prevent that scent from escaping into my home, I re sealed the box and contacted my neighbor, to let them know the poor quality of the merchandise. Next I contacted Florida Indian River Groves to inform them about the spoiled shipment. I was asked to submit a claim, which I did! The claim states someone from the Care Team will respond within 48-72 hours. It now 3 days I and still I haven't so much as received an email etc. I also followed it up with several calls but is being told that the person responsible for handling my claim is away from her desk. Hopefully she'll be back soon so that my concerns can be met. I am feeling dissatisfied, disappointed and disrespected. I most definitely will not be ordering from this company ever again. read more

Received my shipment of 12 oranges this morning. Opened immediately. One of the oranges was covered in thick green and white mold. In their enclosed note the company states that the oranges are picked, packed and shipped within hours after coming off the tree. There is no way and orange can get that moldy with in the time it took to ship it to me, it had to be packed that way. I called them to give them a heads up and the person who answered the phone seemed totally ignorant of how oranges keep. Said he was sorry - me too. I remember when my brother was in high school and they did Indian River fruit for a fundraiser. The fruit was delicious and ripe. I reached out to Indian River and their customer service rep told me to contact the local band that was selling the fruit. He said they had extra to replace spoiled fruit. Band couldn't help me and sounded like Jeff didn't want the bother. Customer service isn't what it used to be. I was really excited to get them and they were the WORSE oranges that I have ever tasted. I had given some to my son and he also stated that they were terrible. Received a package today of three pears, three apples and three oranges as a gift from my daughter in Germany. Opened the box and two of the pears were rotten and the third was soft and had a stem puncture. Quality control must be very low. I'd never recommend their product to anyone else. read more

I picked up 3 boxes of Navels from a local high school fundraiser this past Saturday (07DEC19). I was SO LOOKING forward to nice, sweet, FLORIDA navels! I was SO DISAPPOINTED when I got home and opened them up. First, I do not believe that they are Florida navels (perhaps CA or TX navels). The peel on each orange is quite thick whereas FL navels have relatively thin peels. The peel does not come off in large strips but only small thick pieces. They do not taste at all like FL navels I've had in the past (from other fund raisers). On top of everything else, they are all quite small....I could deal with that if they were in fact FL navels. EXTREMELY disappointed with these. Be careful ordering from this supplier. I know I will not be ordering again from any fundraiser that uses this supplier. read more

Our school used Florida Indian River Groves for our band fundraiser. We received the order on December 2nd and it was rotten. We have received so much bad fruit that the band lost money on it. As of this writing we have yet to hear back from the company on it. The overwhelming majority of the citrus was rotten. Some even had mold on it! To date the company has refused to assist the band in resolving the issue. (Edit: it was the Yorktown High School Band in Yorktown, Indiana) read more

This company is terrible!! Any school thinking of doing a fruit fundraiser, should look at another company. They give you a packet and expect you to know everything about the fundraiser. I called them 5 times throughout my fundraiser and they were never forthcoming with information outside of a question I may have asked. At the time of ordering, they told me I had a small fundraiser but never once told me we would be penalized at the tune of $349.00 for a delivery fee because we did not sell over 50 boxes. When we called them, to discuss the invoice and the fact that we lost money on the fundraiser rather than making money they showed no care or compassion that it is a school fundraiser. They could have easily helped knock off a bit on the delivery price but they did not. When the fruit was delivered, the delivery driver was rude and never gave any direction of how to get the fruit off the truck. Help unloading the truck was not a part of the $349.00 delivery fee. So, my students got boxes off the truck and had to put them back on because the driver told them there were two orders on there. He could have directed the students to the correct boxes before they unloaded and had to reload them back on the truck. read more

I've been purchasing "Band Fruit" for over a decade from the Florida Indian River Groves, Inc. This year, the fruit was a disappointment. I purchased two boxes of Florida Indian River RED Grapefruit ($30/box) to support a local band. The grapefruit was very small, lacked flavor, sweetness, was overly acidic and especially, it lacked COLOR. I have been purchasing superior Red Grapefruit at local supermarkets for less than what I paid per piece for this product. Shame on you for using children to peddle your less than stellar and expensive citrus. Next year, I will donate directly to the band. That way they can keep the total value of my check and I can purchase citrus elsewhere. Sad...................and very disappointed. read more
