After a somewhat rough start, everything seems to have improved incredibly - to the point where I am very comfortable giving a 5 star review. My primary therapist Arjuena is very knowledgeable and caring. Took me several sessions to warm up (mostly on me) and now I both look forward to each visit, having her push me hard and most important the recovery I feel after each visit. The facility itself seem very well equipped for providing post surgery PT. Arjuena adds something new each time and makes sure no 2 sessions are the same. I feel very fortunate to have been assigned to her and highly recommend her. She is very engaged and definitely cares about how I am doing and pain levels. I am truly looking forward to the weeks ahead as my recovery from hip replacement progresses. Also want to give some props to Daryl. He has worked with me twice and he too genuinely cares. Amazing surgeons and support staff. I've had two knee replacements and carpal tunnel surgery and all outstanding outcomes.

Dr Palumbo did 2 hip replacement in 3 months. He was fantastic. I felt good as he told me what would happen. One hip was difficult as it had a fracture and dislocated. His staff including his Senior nurse Erica just great. His support staff amazing. The therapy division has been taking care of me since my first operation. Marissa my therapist is the best. Knowledgeable and compassionate. She's getting me back to normal. She had 8 weeks to get me ready for my second operation. She did it with a week to spare. I consider myself blessed to have Brian Palumbo, Erica and Marissa put me back together. A huge thank you to everyone. P.S. The gang who check me in and the nurses who set me up are amazing. I spent 27 minutes on the phone trying to set an appointment for the Wesley chapel office and still not able to get an appointment set ! I asked for a Dr in Wesley chapel. Was told that the Dr could see me next week but then was told I need to see the nurse first. After all this time, almost a half hour, the representative could not find a time in the Wesley chapel office. He set me at other offices and then seemed surprised when I would repeat the request for Wesley chapel. It was a super frustrating experience. Complete waste of my time. I have never had such a horrible experience! Hope their calls are recorded. I gave up. Will call someone else. read more

I scheduled a knee surgery with Dr Smith at the Wesley Chapel office. It took me 3 messages for them to return my call to schedule. When I decided to seek other treatment, I called to cancel my appointments. I have been trying for a month to get a response from the office to confirm my cancelation! I get their automated system and call center representatives, but they can't cancel my appointments, and no one from the actual office will call me back! Now I'm getting calls from the hospital! There is no email that I can find to reach them and their auto.ated phone system requires me to go through at least 4 prompts to even be able to leave a message! read more

Dr. Michael Garcia is the doctor I saw. He has no time to sit and talk and explain things. I had hand surgery and ended up with my had being worse then when he started. The day of the surgery I never saw him nor did he bother to take the time to call to see how I was doing. There are better doctors to see in this practice like Dr. Creighton. Had my second spine surgery after moving to the Tampa Bay area. This time with Dr. Samad of Florida Orthopaedic Institute in 2019. Finally, after surgery, pain management and exercising my back is feeling better. Unfortunately, now I have returned with bad pain in my neck that radiates down into my arm. I once again made an appointment with Florida Orthopaedic Institute and specifically Dr. Samad. I arrived for my first appointment last week and was seen by the nurse practitioner who was very good. I expressed my concerns and she gave me three cortisone shots in my neck to hopefully help alleviate some pain. She scheduled a STAT MRI at their Brandon office. The thing I like about Florida Orthopaedics is they do their x-rays and MRI's right in their Brandon facility so there's not a lot of wasted time. The surgeon has access to it immediately. I returned today to see Dr. Samad and get the MRI results. Happily, I don't have a herniated disc! This Wesley Chapel office is spotless and not only is my surgeon Dr. Samad personable but the staff are all lovely as well. There is parking on both sides of the building. The office is in the second floor at this location and there is a elevator located in the center of the building between both parking lots. read more

I had three replacements with FOI and the surgeon was awesome. However, trying to reach a person by phone is extremely challenging. This isn't a one time problem. I recommended the surgeon to two friends. Both had replacements performed and had the same issues with not calling back. I had to drive to an office to cancel an appointment because nobody called back despite being told I was in the queue. It wouldn't allow me to cancel via their automated system because it was a post op appointment. Surgery didn't happen so it wasn't needed. Started calling them 6 days prior to the appointment. It's unfortunate, but I decided to switch to a different orthopedic and hope they have people you can actually reach. read more

This is a little difficult because I have the utmost respect for Dr. Palumbo who has done hip and knee surgeries for the last ten years. FIVE STARS FOR HIM! He's extremely qualified, answers all my questions, & is a joy to talk with-- a very personable surgeon who's rather attractive as well. From him, I don't hear any arrogance in his voice as I have w/ other orthopedic surgeons @ other clinics. He's 100% qualified. In 2015, my hip was replaced (due to hip dysplasia from birth). The surgery was performed by an out-of-area physician, so I see Dr. Palumbo only to assist w/ ordering/reading x-rays & other tests; ordering physical therapy; as well as administering cortisone injections every few months. If I were in need of another hip replacement, I would not hesitate to have him perform my surgery. Additionally, his floor nurses are wonderful-- very friendly & helpful. One orange-haired nurse is even quite amusing. I'm very impressed w/ Dr. Palumbo's nursing staff. With that said, I have some genuine concerns w/ this facility: (1) On more than one occasion (three, I believe), I've been phoned just 24 hrs or less in advance to learn that my appointment was being cancelled because the office didn't have the necessary referral-- twice on a late Friday. (I had waited months for these appointments.) And with so short notice, I was unable to get the required referral, so I had to reschedule. Quick appointments aren't the norm here. Considering my appts were made months in advance, why was I notified at the last moment? One time, I even arrived for my appt only to be told I would not be seen because staff didn't have a referral on file. And for this, I had left work early. (2) My primary care doctor will only authorize one orthopedic office visit at a time because this office NEVER sends my reports back to my primary care doctor. This makes my life so much more difficult since I am a regular patient who needs reoccurring injections. If they'd send the reports, I could get additional visits added to each referral. (3) Until just recently, I could not easily get through to Dr. Palumbo's personal team. And dealing w/ generic staff who answered the phones got me nowhere. Thankfully, the phone system has been changed; I can now contact his staff & get almost immediate help. The ladies are friendly; are great returning phone calls; & are fast w/ phoning in refill prescriptions. (4) The overseers of this institute, not the doctors, overbook patients. Yesterday, the PA wasn't there to assist. I waited almost two hours in the waiting room. That is a longer than usual wait, but a filled waiting area tends to be the norm here. (5) It's often difficult to get an office appointment in a reasonable amount of time. There are just so many patients assigned to doctors that getting in weeks early (for example) for a problem that arises, isn't easy unless I'm willing to take time off from my job or see another doctor, possibly a doctor @ one of the Tampa offices. I am a creature of habit regarding medical care; I don't want to regurgitate my medical history to a new physician who's a temporary fill-in. DO I RECOMMEND FLORIDA ORTHOPEDIC INSTITUTE? Yes & No. I have a love and dislike relationship w/ it. I love my doctor, his nurses, & more recently, his team. But I have a dislike that after each visit, my office reports aren't sent to my primary care doctor (which adds unnecessary work for me to get additional referrals). And I possess even more dislike that my appointments have been canceled at the last moment because staff didn't get a referral from my primary (& didn't bother to notify me until the last possible moment). WILL I CONTINUE TO RETURN HERE FOR SERVICE ? YES. I am happy enough w/ Dr. Palumbo's skill, care, & table-side personality that I will tolerate the other less favorable factors. However, should he leave this practice, I will likely as well. read more

Great staff. Clean. Caring staff. Front desk awesome. Great communication with staff and doctors.

The people here are mostly friendly and professional. The problem is that multiple associates do not actually seem to care about the job that they are doing. Scheduling reliability is inconsistent. Half of the therapists are on autopilot, meaning they simply run through a set few exercises that they provide to anyone with an injury in that half of the body (e.g., those with hip injuries will do the same exercises as those with knee injuries). There is little to no evaluation of HOW the patient is doing the exercises to ensure they are being performed correctly. The PT staff guilty of this can be found socializing, surfing Amazon, debating a new car purchase, etc. instead. This was confirmed multiple times when I inquired if I was performing an exercise correctly just to be told by the PT that he/she was not watching after listening to conversations on the above topics. Having said that, their standard exercises are moderately efficacious and occasionally they will schedule a PT who will watch and correct movement. You'll just need to remember this advice when you're with those who busy themselves with other things. This is sort of the Taco Bell of physical therapy...you know there is better out there somewhere, but it is better than nothing. read more

Dr. Spenser Smith is Extraordinary! He & his staff are compassionate, patient, and competent! Dr. Smith even repeated his detailed instructions b/c I was unable to understand them. His staff even gave me valuable techniques to negotiate record transferring! The front staff gal even miraculously said, "You're doing good". I first started getting some pain that I thought was my sciatica. Decided it's time for an x-ray went to visit Florida orthopedic since they excepted my insurance. They do x-rays right on site and review them with you while you sit with the doctor. I scheduled a full hip replacement with Dr. Brian Palombo what an outstanding surgeon and a great guy. My full hip replacement went very well I am now 90 days postop and walking extremely well from me with a new hip. I've also seen Brian worker who is the PA as well a caring understanding and easy to get along with person.Nurses and staff run a very organized office come in and sign in and get your x-rays consult with the doctors and then discuss treatment. The office runs well on time and I've always been able to see a doctor or the physicians assistant. I'm bringing my mom here as well she at 89 years old has also some hip concerns. Called as a new patient just trying to get an appointment to have a steroid injection for pain, staff member on the phone started quoting me surgeon prices without even first asking what kind of appointment I was calling to schedule, I asked her if she wanted to know what kind of appointment I was calling for so she could give me adequate pricing and she started arguing with me that she had to tell me pricing, it got very heated very quick and we got nowhere and all she did was argue with me. I really enjoyed working with Andre and Michelle in PT, I found them to be very knowledgeable and professional My Dr was Timothy Epting he always got me in as close to my appointment as he could, answered all my question and took his time to explain my injures and what I could expect in the short term and long term. I don't know where to start, so I'll start at the beginning. I was sent to FOI Wesley Chapel to see Dr. Baker via Veteran's Choice at the VA. I was medically discharged from the military following surgery on both shoulders (a few years apart) that never got better (Physical Therapy related, but I'll get to that). Over time, they both got much worse again (Labrum tears, rotator cuff damage, extensive bone spurs, scarring, bicep tendonesis, etc.). Dr. Baker's experience (and of course the MRI) helped him to instantly identify what was wrong, why I haven't healed, and how to repair the issues and help them stay healthy for the long-term. The office visits were efficient and I was always called back to the exam room on time and Dr. Baker somehow was in the room almost instantly...every time. Now on to the Physical Therapy side...HOLY COW AWESOME. I never gained back reasonable range of motion after my first two surgeries in the military. The PT there made me tell people for the last 10 years that PT was quack medicine and didn't do anything. Well, all I can say is that with great physical therapy comes great results. I worked with Matt, Jason, Michelle, and Tori. EVERY SINGLE ONE of them were amazing. They started slow and ginger with me post-surgery and pushed me exactly the way I needed and wanted as I progressed. I never once asked a question that didn't get answered with a knowledgeable and applicable response. Lastly, they all add a great personality to boot that makes each and every visit enjoyable. An appointment that most people dread and equate PT to Pain and Torture, I actually looked forward to 3 days a week. read more

I was there this morning with my son who broke his collar bone. The check-in lady was very nice and when she told me my son would need X-rays again to assess him, I told her no. He had already been X-rayed twice, once at urgent care (who didn't notice the fracture) and again at TGH (which showed the fracture). This was a follow up appointment from TGH's ER visit. Needless to say, instead of being patient driven, FOI was money driven to have my son get X-rays again. Do you think ANY insurance would pay for a third set of X-Rays in 8 days? The blond nurse or maybe she was the office manager was very rude and insisted my son have another set done. She then said, "You get more radiation every day from the sun than you do from X-Rays!" Really? I work in healthcare. What a load of BS and her attitude towards a NEW patient was horrible!!! I didn't get her name but I will make sure to never go here again and I will make sure NO ONE I know will go there either. Again, I work in healthcare too and I would NEVER treat a patient the way I was treated today! Horrible patient service by one employee makes your establishment look bad! read more

Dr. Epting did surgery on my bunion and 2 toes plus surgery on my calf. Cant say enough about the great experience I had. Kind doctor who is very willing to take as much time as you need to explain your procedure and after care. Have had 3 more visits since my surgery on November 13 2017. Again very well taken care of.
