Had my second spine surgery after moving to the Tampa Bay area. This time with Dr. Samad of Florida Orthopaedic Institute in 2019. Finally, after surgery, pain management and exercising my back is feeling better. Unfortunately, now I have returned with bad pain in my neck that radiates down into my arm. I once again made an appointment with Florida Orthopaedic Institute and specifically Dr. Samad. I arrived for my first appointment last week and was seen by the nurse practitioner who was very good. I expressed my concerns and she gave me three cortisone shots in my neck to hopefully help alleviate some pain. She scheduled a STAT MRI at their Brandon office. The thing I like about Florida Orthopaedics is they do their x-rays and MRI's right in their Brandon facility so there's not a lot of wasted time. The surgeon has access to it immediately. I returned today to see Dr. Samad and get the MRI results. Happily, I don't have a herniated disc! This Wesley Chapel office is spotless and not only is my surgeon Dr. Samad personable but the staff are all lovely as well. There is parking on both sides of the building. The office is in the second floor at this location and there is a elevator located in the center of the building between both parking lots.

Amazing surgeons and support staff. I've had two knee replacements and carpal tunnel surgery and all outstanding outcomes.

BONE DEATH, JOB LOSS & DISABILITY - My Experience with Dr. Richard Cain…read more I wish I could give zero stars. My experience with Dr. Richard Cain at BayCare Orthopedic Institute has left me permanently disabled and struggling to take care of my family. I first saw him in March 2025 with an MRI showing a subchondral insufficiency fracture in my left knee. He put me on 6 weeks of non-weight bearing, then told me to walk again with an offloader brace that didn't help at all. Despite my severe pain and repeated requests for updated imaging, he refused and instead pushed ahead with surgery. On May 5, 2025, he performed a subchondroplasty using an MRI that was already nearly 3 months old. After surgery, my pain only got worse. At follow-up visits in May and July, I begged him for help and asked again for another MRI. He brushed me off, saying, "Sometimes you'll still have pain after surgery," and offered no pain management. By July, I was in so much pain that I booked an emergency appointment. Only then did he finally order an MRI -- and even admitted he had never reviewed a post-op subchondroplasty MRI before. That MRI (July 24, 2025) showed the fracture had grown larger and now there was bone necrosis (bone death). At my August 1 visit, he promised to call me personally after consulting a colleague but never did. I had to chase him down through the patient portal just to get a referral a week later. Because of Dr. Cain's negligence, I've been wheelchair-bound for months, unable to properly care for my 3-year-old toddler, and at serious risk of losing my job as I've exhausted FMLA benefits, and my job has let me know they will let me go if I need more time off for additional surgeries and recovery. My condition has progressed to bone death, and I feel completely abandoned as his patient. I went to Dr. Cain expecting for my condition to improve, and instead, it drastically declined. I strongly believe Dr. Cain should not be allowed to operate on anyone else, and I definitely cannot recommend him for any and all orthopedic needs, especially with anything to do with knee issues. I write this as I sit from my wheelchair, and I used to be a very active person. Do what you will this review, but please reconsider and stay away from this orthopedic practice, especially Dr. Cain.

Waiting for Dr. Cooper doesn't take long either. I get really impatient with the offices that have appointments but then you wait around for a hour to just get to a room. Not here. Each visit is quick, to the point and informational but he also makes sure I understand everything before leaving.

I sent my spouse to see him for her debilitating left knee pain and the complaints I received from her was absolutely jaw dropping and ridiculous . I went into medicine for the passion... the passion to help people, not for the money. This dr Baker is the absolute opposite of a caring physician . Let's mention that my spouse has trauma experience and level one trauma er experience. She was seen by him for approximately 2 minutes and did a terrible physical exam of her knee, she even stated my knee exams were more thorough as well as her chiropractor .. Never even read her pmh, review of systems, absolutely nothing !!! He scrolled through her mri for approximately 5 seconds ... and not even vitals were taken of the patient !!!!! He said he would prescribe a topical cream !!! Didn't explain a thing and blew her off !!! There is a REASON WHY WE SENT HER TO AN ORTHO!! A specialist ... he's a heartless excuse for a physician... egotistical md .. the typical... we will seek second opinion since she truly can't hyperextend the knee and I suspect possible partial tear of acl and couldn't even see the posterior meniscus. Please please I beg every single patient that's reading this !!!!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE than Florida orthopedic institute and further more avoid this so called MD!!!! Dr Baker remember that ... dr Baker AVOID AVOID AVOID AND NOT TO MENTION GOT PRESCRIBED INDOMETHACIN WITHOUT EVEN READING HER PMH OR DRUG ALLERGIES ... absolute nightmare of a doctor Avoid avoid avoid. It's embarrassing and he should be embarrassed to know that a chiropractor did ten times better job of examining her knee than he did ... again a doctor that shows no compassion or empathy is not a doctor that should be prescribing medicines or laying their hands on a patient.. what's bad for him and little does he know that I'm a physician and my spouse has over 18 years of medical experience ... tish tish... he'll here from us shortly

I want to remain active (only 46 years young) and am seeking the best way to do this. Dr. Baker has suggested a plan for the long term so that I can stay active and be conservative at the same time. He offers solutions as if he is the patient (money, time and health conscious), not as if he is the Doctor looking for the next surgery experience. Both of my grandmothers lived to be well into their 90's. With Dr. Baker's help, I will too and be acting like I'm in my 70's! Of course with an amazing doctor comes and amazing staff! Nina, Rhonda, Ashley, Amy, Keisha, Josie and Alishia are professional and fun, making each visit almost like a "Field Trip". Thanks for your care and professionalism. I look forward to our journey together!
