It took him only 3 minutes to finish. He returned both bad crowns to lab because didn't fit properly. I had to wait longer again for molars. Crowns came again. Fit is only ok. Not perfect. Teeth so tight together I can't floss properly. I told Doctor but he complained that he would have to take crown off and sand it down to fit. He said it's supposed to be tight so no food gets in. I said what? He finally sanded or whatever he did to widen gap. Cleanings went ok there. The hygienist has language barriers. Front desk Heather was the best employee. Went back for exam with Dr. Espinoza and he said I have a huge cavity in tooth 19. I would need a root canal and a crown. I went to another dentist to get second opinion. This doctor said I do not have a cavity in tooth 19. Only slight bone loss which will be watched.

Which in my opinion is not bad for the services I received. The office is very clean and well presented. Front desk staff were on point. My hygienist was excellent. She took a million x rays and probably got every single angle possible. I have not seen a dentist in 4 years prior and thankfully no issues were found. My cleaning was longer than any other I remember. She paid attention to every detail and my teeth feel AMAZING. She pointed out some stains I have due to coffee and wine (oops). But said with regular cleanings she could get them removed. I will be back in 6 months. I have been showing everyone my teeth because they really look and feel amazing now! My visit with the dentist was brief but he did answer any questions I had. I believe my hygienist name was Yasmin. There was a slightly language barrier but I didn't mind. She knows her stuff and really did a great job. Will request her next time. I can't comment on any of the actual dental work considering I had no issues with my teeth. But for a normal checkup/cleaning I would recommend this office.

To make it worse, I had to go somewhere I had never been before. All I can say is "Thank you" to Dr. Steven Frey, his assistant Diana, and the team here. They got me in quickly, I did not have to wait, paperwork was small and efficient, and the root canal procedure was a piece of cake-45 minutes from time I first sat in chair until I left. Only discomfort was the normal novocain injection at the beginning. I hope to never return...but if I have to, I know this place is professional, efficient, and helps people get better.

The good: The office staff was really easy to work with by phone in setting up appointment & letting me know what needed to be sent over. This is a huge benefit. The office is clean & conveniently located if you're in the NE Ft Myers area. Front desk staff seemed capable & knowledgeable. Appreciated reminders they sent over. The dentist I saw, Dr. Lopez, seemed nice, reasonable, articulate. Only saw him maybe 3 min as he did a quick look & I didn't have questions for him or issues with my teeth. The bad: This office uses temps to fill in as dental hygienists. I didn't even know that was something I needed to ask about. I got one & it was AWFUL!!!!! I am one of the few people who actually looks forward to my 6 mo cleaning and this was the worst experience I've ever had. I may b joining the rest of the world in dreading/postponing dental appts. To b fair, the temp gal was very sweet & I would have loved to have given her a pass, but it was really that bad. Also, I don't think it was entirely her fault but rather demonstrates leadership/management issues as somebody should have been checking in on her, ensured she was capable of what they expected, trained her better on the machines, sat in with her for some cleanings. To start, it was a little difficult to understand her, but I was able to make it work. No big deal. Then came the 18(!!) xrays required & it was quickly obvious she was newer at it. Although the piece put in ur mouth is never comfy, my mouth was getting beaten up!! I sucked it up & made it to the next phase thinking perhaps this will get better, but red flags were flying. Then came time to poke the gums to c if there's gum recession. In every office I've ever been, one of the front desk gals comes back & records the numbers while the tech does a quick poke around the gums. Not here - poor thing was left to do it all solo so she poked 3 times then turned to the computer to log the numbers. Over and over for 30+ min. Aside from that, the poking is typically a pretty gentle quick read but today I received jab after jab. My gums still hurt. Just wanted that wonderfully clean teeth feeling so still sticking with it, although glad I chose to b the family guinea pig or I never would have heard the end of it from the family. She then pulled out the Cavitron, which is a vibrating metal pick that is scraped across the teeth, mostly at the gum line to get rid of plaque. Don't enjoy when they scrape your teeth by hand w/scaler, well this takes it up another level w/a squeal that accompanies the metal on tooth scraping. Sounds more like the drill they use when fixing a cavity. I definitely prefer hand scaling, but was able to mentally overcome the awful noises, water filling my mouth and water running down the side of my face. I've had a cavitron used b4 but in doses & a little more exact about where they scale with it. She his some nerves that obviously have less bone coverage and by the 3rd time I was done! I took off the bib, got up & was walking out. These are open rooms so it must have been apparent by this point that the cleaning was not going well, but nobody who is a FT employee came to check in, offer to take over, watch to see what she was doing...nothing. Even after I very clearly stated that we were done & I didn't want her to touch me anymore & was leaving, she was left by herself. (of course I tried to do this as calmly and politely as possible) She pleaded to polish my teeth b4 leaving & after ensuing she was using a typical polisher, I agreed. That was the best part of the cleaning even though it left lots to b desired. For example, when someone polishes ur teeth, they typically do a section of the mouth, rinse thoroughly, suction, then move on. She did the ENTIRE mouth without rinse & then started rinsing but only rinsed (and not well) the bottom teeth. Never rinsed the top. Thought she'd come back and do it. Nope - went on to flossing, which of course meant she was flossing the paste up into my gums b/c it had never been rinsed out. Seriously...this was 1 bad thing after the next. Truly felt like I'd signed up to b a test patient at a teaching college. Again, the temp was trying her best, very sweet and was not trying to hurt me, but she was definitely not up to the level necessary to c patients independently & I put that ownership on the practice that allowed her in the room solo. I would imagine a lot of my issues r due to having a temp as a hygienist. Front desk offered to have me c someone experienced next time - too little too late as we will NOT b returning. Also, b sure to look at ur treatment plan b4 starting as there r several extras on there u might want to decline such as fluoride for adults or $60 mucus test. Gave 2 stars for the positives that did happen, but would NOT recommend.

The records sent from my endodontist indicated a distal fracture at the backside of a molar that was causing terrific pain. After a quick panoramic xray, Dr. Alcaide breezed into the exam room and proceeded to give every reason why he was NOT going to extract the tooth -- even, with my husband present, agreeing that the tooth was fractured, beyond repair by a root canal, and needed to come out. I won't go into all the rationalizations he gave except to say that Medicare -- which I wasn't using and which doesn't pay for extractions -- was chief among them. He actually urged me to see a neurologist for pain -- at the same time insisting, "I'm not a pain doctor" -- and get a custom dental guard at Nova University for tooth grinding. Again, with a fractured tooth before him that he acknowledged needed extraction. It is a doctor's right to choose not to treat any patient. But in this case, despite his impressive credentials, Dr. Alcaide was illogical, imperious, and, I believe, verging on the unethical. He had his front desk give me referrals to other oral surgeons throughout Lee County so "you can find someone to remove the tooth, just not me." If you need an oral surgeon, I would recommend using any one of them except him.

My regular dentist disagreed with the recommendations this dentist made, so I will continue to use if I need an alternative, but not for my regular visits.

My wife was looking for a new provider and called this office for service. They told her they…read moreaccept our insurance, Delta Dental. Well, they do, but there is a hidden caveat that they never advised us of. They are an Out of Network Provider of Delta Dental. Her treatment was quoted and scheduled without any mention that the practice was out of network for Delta Dental. At no point during multiple conversations--whether with front office staff or the doctor--was this ever disclosed, or even discussed, despite several opportunities to do so. The concern became more serious when I scheduled a service for myself. I got an appointment, during that appointment I had multiple conversations with multiple members of the staff including Dr Lorino himself, about my use of Delta Dental Insurance, at which time not a single person mentioned anything about being out of network. When I got the treatment plan, the numbers didn't make sense to me, so I called the staff later that day for clarification. That's when things got even more confusing. I spoke with the insurance coordinator who could not answer any of my questions related to how much insurance would pay. That lack of clarity prompted me to dig deeper, where I discovered the out-of-network status, directly from Delta Dental themselves on an hour long phone call, the night before my appointment. When I raised this directly with the staff, it was not disputed that the coverage status had not been communicated. They said they try, but they can't speak for who we spoke with. It was at this time that I informed the insurance coordinator that I personally had spoken with her twice and at no time did she disclose this. She agreed. We ultimately requested a fair adjustment for the unexpected costs tied to the lack of disclosure for services already rendered, and that request was declined. Basically Dr Lorino, when approached by his insurance coordinator, chose profits over ethics, and doing the right thing. Given the repeated discussions about insurance prior to treatment and the absence of any clear notification, I felt this should have been handled much more transparently. Because of this experience, I will be pursuing the matter further through Delta Dental's grievance process and other appropriate channels. Interestingly, I reviewed this practice's reviews today after leaving the office and I have found numerous low review scores based on this exact issue. If you are considering this practice, I would say that you need to be cautious about their use of words related to "we accept your insurance". Ask the right questions like "Are you in network"? Also compare pricing with other local Dentists. I have quotes from other offices that are 40% less than what this office charges. Based on this businesses response, I feel the need to call out their lies. "Immediately before your scheduled treatment, while seated in the treatment room and moments before care was to begin, you presented fee comparisons from other dental offices and requested that our office reduce our fees to match those providers." This is an outright lie...I was never seated in your chair and NEVER showed you any quotes from any other providers. Why are you lying? Pull the video feeds from your office. I never went past the waiting room or insurance coordinators desk today. That's an outright lie. I'm stunned that this is where you want to take this. Based on your material facts that you misrepresented here, it looks like you are choosing to escalate this. The fact that you would make up a lie, tells me all I need to know about your practice and your ethics. It's very important to me that the facts of this are clear, therefore I've contacted the BBB with a complaint. I'm moving forward with additional resources as well. I am shocked that you would fabricate such a lie in an effort to protect your reputation online via a review. So he edited his first reply, and now added another claim. This Dentist continues to fabricate lies about what actually happened. He was never presented with quotes from any other dentist. That's an outright lie.....interestingly enough I have the proof, and he does not! Buyer beware.
