Stopped by to get some treats for a meeting. The girl working the front was incredibly nice and also very patient while I decided what I would like. I was the only customer there and trying to decide between cookies or cupcakes. Ultimately, I decided on six cupcakes - three different flavors. 2 of each: cookies and cream, strawberry shortcake, and chocolate peanut butter. They all looked delicious but I noticed when I opened the box they were packed in very tightly causing the different frostings to rub on each other. It wasn't a huge problem, but it definitely took away from the presentation as I set them out. I hope they come up with a solution for this so that the cupcakes stay as pretty as they are when you buy them. read more

We had an appointment yesterday at 10am to sample, pick out and order a wedding cake for an upcoming wedding. My wife took off from work. Upon arrival my wife was informed by an employee that the lady we were scheduled to meet was not there. That lady had stopped at another location and the employee did not know when they would be in. Extremely unprofessional. So my wife went back to work. You would think that a phone call later in the day apologizing for the missed appointment might happen. Nope. Again, extremely unprofessional. Sooo delish! Can't believe I haven't reviewed yet as Flour Girls is literally my go-to spot for a macaron fix in Mobile! Their sweets and treats so perfect, every time! Hard to beat their consistency. The cupcakes are phenomenal, and I also stop by for Snickerdoodles! (and zap them for about 10 seconds in the microwave -- HEAVEN!) I found Flour Girls at the Mitchell Cancer Center's Celebrate Hope event when I first moved to Mobile, and I've been hooked ever since. Pros: They have dozen of dessert choices to choose from. If you have a special event coming up they also doing wedding and Birthday cakes as well. The strawberry shortcake cupcake was my favorite. Cons: No one acknowledged the customers when they walk in. All the workers were busy and didn't lift their head when I walked in the door. I ordered banana pudding with a small vanilla wafer cookie on top a delicious banana filling is in the center making it a even more delectable surprise. I also ordered strawberry also delicious with strawberry filling inside the cupcake. Cupcakes are not the only thing that's served here, they also have brownies with nice hunk of chocolate inside. We were so pleased with the cake we received from FlourGirls Bakery. The price was also surprisingly good for the amazing quality. A+ We wanted something beautiful and delicious for our parents 50th anniversary...it was in fact BOTH beautiful and delicious! My husband, sister-in-law and myself especially enjoyed trying out all the cupcakes throughout the month to pick out our favorite flavors for the cake. There were so many good ones but in the end we settled on a simple chocolate for the top layer, wedding cake for the bottom layer all topped with a cream cheese icing. It was so good. Not dry at all! We did not have leftovers even though we ordered way more cake then we needed. I've never seen a cake eaten so fast with so many big smiles. The detail work on the cake itself was very well done and everybody commented on how nice it was. The customer service was great just make sure you order your cake with plenty of notice because they do get booked up. The only thing I might suggest they do differently is to let the customer pick the color plate the cake itself is going to be placed on. I say this because it was a "50th golden anniversary" with lots of gold touches in our decor and the base plate they used was silver. Nothing we couldn't work around but if the option to choose between white, silver or gold was there upon ordering that would have made things even nicer. The day my cake arrived, I came back from lunch and two of my co-workers were huddled up talking about it. They couldn't wait for me to see it! It was a far stretch from the plain cakes we normally have for birthdays. Just look at the pics! It was reminiscent of a traditional wedding cake. (My wedding cake was actually a King Cake.) My birthday cake was beautifully decorated. When we cut into it, it was three layers with apple filling in the middle. One of the partners told me it was the best cake he'd ever tasted. The owner of Flour Girls, Sherry, has been baking cakes for my kids since they were toddlers, and she was baking out of her house! They are all teens now and still ask for her cakes on their birthdays. The two oldest went away to school, and every time they come home, they want her cupcakes, the lemon squares, and the macaroons, all of which are as addictive as crack. Something I thought was cool - the Georgia cornbread. It's more savory than sweet, and the older men in my family worship that stuff. The red icing has an aftertaste and the ice was thicker than usual. The kids did not eat the cupcakes because they didn't like it. I called to try to get a redo or see what can be done, she stated "there is nothing she can do, because she will lose out on money. I stopped by this afternoon to order a cake celebrating the graduation of my best friend from graduate school. After settling on a date, I requested a simple sheet cake decorated like a diploma. First, the clerk did not listen to what I was requesting, talking about screening pictures and fondant instead of the fact that I DID NOT HAVE a picture of the actual diploma because she HAS NOT graduated yet. She went to discuss fondant with someone in the back of the store and came out telling me I would need to give them an exact picture. I became flustered and repeated myself about upcoming graduation and was told very unkindly that I would need to figure out how to send them an exact picture if I wanted the cake. I tried to clarify that I did NOT want fondant, just a simple cake with simple decoration and she said that was not possible.it is incredible how a little unkindness and unprofessionalism can upset a good day. Sherri is super nice and I will try different kinds until I find the one I like! There is a minimum of $10 for credit card use!
