Owning my own business for a number of years, and the last few years of change set it. Reviews and people's opinions seem to override the essence of the business, "the old the customer is always right." I'm writing this to those people who rant and rave in the negative of form of speech in reviews, and those people will fail to see they themselves just might be the problem. There was a bit of problem with my order, and my choice was to reach out to the owner or supervisor of this business. I'm old school, how about talking to each other first and resolving the issue. There are few shopping experiences that can make me feel the urge to write a review. This is how I like to shop! My sister-in-law had her first baby recently. As I am in CO and she is in SFalls I needed to show my congrats with a gift rather than a visit. Unfortunately, I kept forgetting to order flowers and by the time I would think of it I would be half asleep in bed. Well, one of those late eves I decided to just see if I could have it taken care of rather painlessly, even if I had to spend a bit extra, from the comfort of my prone position. So I googled "order flowers Sioux Falls, SD". the Flower Mill was in the top 5 hits. I clicked the link. I got to a homepage which was easy to maneuver, clear and specific. I clicked on the occasion "new baby". I scrolled through to find the bouquet I liked, and somehow I was also able to easily add on a box of chocolates! Mind you, this all took a total of three minutes. I only had a tiny glitch while trying to paste their address into the delivery box- you have to type it in, I guess. Anyway, the flowers/chocolates were delivered the next day without difficulty and there was no delivery fee! Yes, I understand that these are built into the cost but the prices were reasonable when compared to other similar purchases I have made which charge shipping/delivery. She LOVED the flowers and promptly posted pics of them on FB with enthusiasm. This company (and their website) did just exactly what I wanted in an efficient and professional manner. Looking in Yelp for a flowers shop in SD I found this one kinda attractive for the beautiful pics of they arrangements and well for the reviews so how I leave in NJ I decided to call for order a bucket for my daughter who is there working. The lady who answered the phone was in a very not easy mood, she started to asking me the information in a horrible rude way that made me say " ummm you know what? I'll call you later thanks" I understand everyone has a ruff days but when you have a job when you have to treat costumers you have to put the whatever bad thing that makes you get upset and place it in a pocket and give the best for a new costumer! I'm wondering who was the person in that place who got my call cuz if that person is the owner... Ay caramba! I ordered flowers and chocolates in advance to be sent to my mother at work for her 61st birthday. Since I now live out of state and couldn't see her in person this year, I wanted to give her a little sunshine on a cold winter SD day. The day of my mother's birthday, they called me to say that they didn't have the flowers I ordered, and said they would substitute with something else, which I said would be fine. But they sent me an email after 7pm that day, telling me that they didn't deliver the order. When I called them, their excuse was that they tried to deliver after 5pm, but her work was closed by then. Go figure! EDIT: I'm now giving them two stars rather than one, because I got a call later that evening saying that they would deliver to my mother's home address, which I appreciated, even though it came too late. read more

I went to the Flower mill today to pick up a couple of flowers for my ex's Grandparents headstones. I had no idea that they would be closed today. As luck would have it, as I was at the front door Sue who works there pulled up her car as she was leaving and decided to open up to help me get my flowers. She even trimmed them and added greenery etc. When she could have only handed me a couple of flowers in a rush to get me out of there. I was so grateful. She didn't have to stop and explain that they are closed on sundays, she didn't have to hold up her schedule to re park, open back up, turn the lights on etc for 2 flowers but she did. I asked the Flower Mill to go above and beyond to deliver flowers to my parent's grave, and they did that and more. I don't live in the same town. So I asked them to remove and store my bouquet of artificial flowers,deliver a fresh bouquet for my parent's anniversary and then return next week to replace the wilted flowers with my artificial bouquet. They not only agreed to do that for a reasonable price, but also emailed me a picture of the fresh bouquet after they delivered them. To top it off, they delivered on a day that cemetery personnel were not available, so found my parents grave based on my direction instead of their usual procedure of dropping them at the cemetery office. The Flower Mill is by far the best flower shop in Sioux Falls hands down. I had a very close friend pass away in Colorado and found on that Monday. His family was from Rock Rapids, IA , and we didn't receive a set funeral date until Thursday that week. Not only were we able to arrange delivery to the funeral home by noon on Saturday, but they made the most beautiful tropical arrangements that anyone could ask for. Not only did they go out of their way to make this such short notice, and did a wonderful job. They had them delivered right on time like they said they would. The family was so happy and amazed by the beauty of the arrangements that got sent for him. No other business in town was willing to work with me on such short notice for tropical flowers. I recently had a wedding in Sioux Falls (I've lived in Sioux Falls for most of my life, but for three years I've lived in Texas), I had to consult with the Flower Mill in person only a couple of times and multiple over phone. I could have sworn we had requested transportation for the flowers to come back to the reception area, unfortunately my bridal party had to clean up the church quickly before the reception. Then of course the vases we ordered (which I requested some that would sit on top of the tables) were GIGANTIC. We ended up putting them on the floor and had to put some on the table and hope that they wouldn't fall over. Needless to say we ended up setting up the reception as well. When the lady came to deliver the flowers that morning, she did not even stick around to talk to me about what she came with or confirm this was correct. I give this place two stars because the flowers were great! Which they deserve credit for. But needless to say, there were serious communication issues. I would not pick this place again. read more

Flower Mill is consistently incredible. We moved to the east side of town about 6 years ago. I took a shot and had them make up some flowers to give to my wife just because I love her. The flowers were great. I have used them since. I don't do prescribed holidays, but I do bring my beautiful wife beautiful things because I think she should have them. Besides the occasional wonderful bouquet, I challenged them a few years ago. My youngest was leaving for college and I wanted to flower bomb my wife when we got home to being empty nesters. I coordinated it with a friend before we got home. They showed up exactly on time and totally delivered. It was way over the top, which was exactly what I asked for. Boom. I took a chance and tried flower delivery from a big name over the internet. The flowers did not compare. The flora from Flower mill is vibrant and beautiful and lasts a long time. I ended up choosing the flowermill to do all the flowers for my wedding. From what I heard from people I didn't think I could go wrong with choosing them, however; I ended up being very disappointed. My bridal bouquet was very small and the roses were not fresh as they should have been for a $200 bouquet. I sent emails to the lady I met with & sent pictures of what I wanted for my wedding and got a poor response via email and no phone follow up. It was the biggest day of my life, I had 350 guests, so I spend lots of money for fresh, nicely done flowers. It was such a disappointment that even after almost a year past since my wedding day, the flowers still bother me. I have reached out to the flowermill recently after my wedding and they did apologize via email but didn't offer money back or even send a gift card. Very unprofessional on their part to not even call me. Perhaps, the flowermill is getting too busy to where they are not treating all weddings equally and are rushing without putting quality customer service first and foremost. read more
