This mom and pop or "family" florist has been in business for over 40 years!! This alone should tell you something! They did my wedding flowers over 30 years ago. I have had several flowers arrangements done for different occasions. I called this morning and she is making one for a high school friend that is in the hospital. A good florist should know what flowers are considered "low allergy" and not act like they've never heard of such a thing. I was asked if I knew! This was the shop owner! My arrangement was not even made when I went the next day to pick it up. The water tubes leaked all over me, and I had to re do the tissue and add a decent ribbon myself. Then I had to pluck off the anthers with pollen. Update: the smell from the flowers was so strong that I had to take it apart, remove the flowers with the strong smell and totally redo the arrangement once again. It is now half the original size! Re allergies: I have terrible allergies and can tell allergy sufferers, doctors will tell you not to have fresh flowers around, however I love them, so I choose wisely. first of all no baby's breath as it gives off a lot of pollen, also no lilies at all - if you receive some, just remove the stamens (stalks with orange pollen) as soon as possible. read more

I will never buy flowers from here again. When I went in to place my order, the man behind the counter was rude . He acted as if I was stupid, and told me he didn't really have anything. He told me that "he could throw something together." What I didn't expect for him to do was literally throw something together. I asked for red and white flowers, and he put purple, red, and white. The vase they put the flowers in is chipped and some of the flowers look half dead. After I purchased the flowers, I brought them to the car to show my sister, and we both agreed that it looked awful. We went back into the florist and asked if we could just have pink flowers. They told us we could, we clearly looked displeased and it seemed to me as they had an attitude about it. When they were replacing the flowers, my sister and I could here them whispering comments about us. I will never purchase anything from here ever again, and I recommend you don't also. read more

I was raised in Harahan, but have lived away from home for 37 years. Whenever I need flowers for my family (who still live in Harahan), I have always called Janice's. I've never been disappointed. For my father's birthday last year I had my brother bring in a few cigars for the arrangement. They added those with the flowers and it was a very "manly" arrangement. My dad LOVED it. Recently, my sister celebrated a 60th birthday. I asked if it was possible to make an arrangement with 60 roses. They made it and IT WAS FABULOUS. I live in Harahan and always support Harahan businesses. Never again for this florist. I ordered an arrangement for a funeral and stated that I wanted a "very nice, high end arrangement" for $150 to $200. The services were on Valentine's Day, but I was assured this would not be a problem. The arrangement that was delivered was mostly carnations and ferns, I would expect to pay $50 for this arrangement. It was an embarrassment ....not going to risk it again. read more

The ladies at Janice's are so kind and helpful! I get my mom flowers for her birthday, my deceased dad's birthday, Valentine's Day and Mother's Day every year. I also get my boss flowers for celebrations (like when we pick up an amazing client or when her kids need them for dances and such). Needless to say, they make around 10-12 arrangements for me each year, and then my husband always gets some for me personally. Not once have I been disappointed with the outcome! And not once has the recipient ever NOT smiled, which is the whole purpose of the flowers anyway. I love the joy it brings to people, which is why I continuously use their company.
