We don't understand why with the signs and receipts they towed my car. I paid for the parking until 10:37 pm. I spoke with the staff and the manager they didn't care. Towed my car while shopping at Walgreens downtown Knoxville TN. I was in a designated Walgreens parking space. I purchased my items and came to found my car gone. Walgreens staff lead stated I wasn't in the store long. They have me on cameras. I have a receipt. He called the company and left a message, stating there was an issue. He said they didn't call for a tow. And they don't know which company, at first. I found the contact info far down in an alley in another parking lot. I called the company... They acknowledged they had my car and were charging $250 to release it. With no way to get to the location other than a service like Uber which wasn't working. This was after midnight, the lot wasn't full. And Walgreens is 24/7. So all was legit. I told them this. They said I was rude and hung up. Did so again on a 2nd call. I have seen these tow drivers in other lots, taking cars in minutes, while students are in town in volume. No warning. Very predatory. This is not the first time, other customers have been taken. (3 that I'm aware of, myself) I will be making a complaint to Walgreens leadership. I have already notified management of the situation and concern. read more

Our truck was towed by Floyds from an apartment complex lot (The Daniel) in downtown Knoxville. We thought we were parking in a public lot, the line between the public lot and the apartment lot was not clearly defined. We were in the spot less than 2 hours and we were towed. The wrecker service was in the process of towing another car as we got back to the lot. I asked the tow operator where my truck was taken, why, and what were they charging me. He responded that we were illegally parked in the apartment lot and that it was $245. I responded that $245 was incredibly high for a local tow, he responded "The city sets the rates". We drove to the wrecker service and I read the local ordinance that stated the MAXIMUM they could charge was $245. I entered the office and asked what a tow of that distance would usually cost, they responded "around $125". I had $120 in cash and I offered that to them for my truck, they responded again that "the city sets the rates". I called them out for lying to me, because they CAN charge less than $245. The office attendant became enraged and told me he was going to trespass me from the property, simply for asking if he could help me out after making an honest mistake. We found an ATM and returned with the money, the ATM only gave 20s so I paid $260 and asked for change. They got MAD at me for asking for change and said "you knew it was $245, why didn't you bring $245" I explained the atm only gave 20s, and that they are asking for CASH ONLY and ripping everyone off, they should have cash on hand to give change. The attendant tried to buddy up with me telling me it was the boss who made them charge this much for these tows and that it would be taken out of their paycheck if they didn't charge people $245. They need to be regulated further and people need to be able to dispute unfair charges based on acutal tow prices, not just a $245 max. read more

Floyd's is shady and I would not recommend them for any services! Twice now, they have towed under unfair circumstances. I also know MANY others who have been screwed over by them. Last night, my boyfriend's vehicle was towed in the middle of the night and we woke up to it gone. When we got there, they demanded $245 in CASH. They said if we caught them towing, they'll let you only pay $150 (even though it isn't in their possession). If they tow in the middle of the night (like they always do), then there is no one to catch them and they charge $245. This is also the max rate for private involuntary towing in Knoxville meaning they could charge less, but they don't. As for why it's unfair, I'm a resident at a local apartment complex and they have towed me before for being in an illegal spot. I had returned after an 8 hour CNA shift to our complex packed and no parking on a Saturday night. I illegally parked because I was exhausted and I had done it before without being towed. Our apartment has issues with parking spots. They had not towed any of the guests in residents spot either. So when I went to get my car that time, they charged $90 and let me pay on card. This time it was $245 and cash. My boyfriend's vehicle is significantly nicer than mine, meaning they upcharged him because they can. In any case, There are not many residents at the complex right now and so he parked in a resident's spot because guests have been doing it since school let out with no issue. They do not consistently tow which makes it feel targeted and sketchy. I get that this is how they make money, but it isn't okay. If you have a choice for someone to tow you, I do not recommend Floyd's. Don't go where they take advantage of broke college kids. read more

We have been towed by Floyd's 3 times (from the parking lot of the place we live) Every encounter we have with them is just awful they are extremely rude. I don't think I have had a phone conversation with them that didn't end with them hanging up on me. This last time they towed us we had a parking pass on the dash that permitted us to be parked there and they still refused to release the car to us until someone from HOA confirmed the pass because they accused us of "faking" the pass. Knoxville police and Floyd's Wrecker Service Racket My husbands truck overheated on John Sevier Highway and there was no place for him to pull over but the middle turn lane. We know that once the vehicle cools down it will start, so we came back at dusk to find a police officer and Floyd's surrounding the truck. Sure enough the truck started and had not been loaded on the Floyd truck yet, but the officer refused to let my husband drive it 2 miles to our home since Floyd's had already been called. The driver for Floyd's stated the cost, since he had already been called, was $350! How about do the right thing and let us drive our running vehicle home? We would have gladly paid him their normal charge of $75 for his trouble, but since the officer called it was $350! They had zero empathy for good Knox County citizens in a bad spot! read more

I live at the Barclay House apartments, which has a contract with Floyd's to police its parking lot. College students from nearby Laurel Hall park in our lot frequently, as do the frat boys in the house next door, all without a permit. I call Floyd's often about this, because there is often no parking late at night in our lot, and a bunch of cars without permits. Do they come? Only occasionally, and when they do, they don't tow anyone. So, I'm just a LITTLE PISSED when I come out of my apartment this morning to go to the bank, and my vehicle is gone.... the apartment manager called Floyd's, who said I didn't have a permit. She told them otherwise, and vouched for the fact that I do live there, my car is registered there, etc. They refused to waive the fee. When I finally found a ride to get down there, guess what? The permit had fallen off the window and was on the floor board. It would have taken their employee two seconds to have just a TINY BIT OF COURTESY and look around...but nope. When confronted with this, they refused to waive the fee, and told me it was my fault. I asked the guy to explain his logic to me, as I'm pretty sure it isn't my fault that a window cling fell off in the hot sun...he had no explanation, other than to continue to be a jerk. Tow companies generally are the scum of the earth...they make their money off of the poor, but these guys are even worse than your standard awful tow company. I've already filed a complaint with the BBB, am following up with the upper management of my building, asking them to fire Floyd's, and next, I'm going to the media and to the city and state regulatory boards to file complaints. Broken down on Foothills Parkway! We have only lived in Tennessee for a few months and were not familiar with the roads. Our insurance company called Floyds to help locate where we were. We talked to David, a veteran tow truck driver for over 30 years. He patiently asked us questions about landmarks we passed and before long, found where we were on Google maps. When he arrived, he was friendly, professional and it was obvious he knew what he was doing. He got us towed home without a hitch (no pun intended)! When their lies about this situation were exposed the gap-toothed slattern who answered the phone THREATENED him. My car was on the bed when I flagged the driver down before driving off. He said I still had to pay and then backed into another vehicle and punctured the trunk. I still had to pay for my car even though they were in possession of my car when they got in the accident!!! The driver was confused why I was upset that he got into an accident with my car in his possession. I believe I should be refunded my $75 as I saw him back into another car, which proves that my car was not in good hands. My car could've possibly been damaged in his drive to the tow yard. This buisness does not even diserve one star. I don't know if many people know but the owner Terry Floyd also rents a few houses through his buisness. I was a tennat at one of his properties until very recently. The houses are not well maintained the entire back yard of the property I lived at was a mix of climbing ivy and poison oak. My kids could not play in the back yard. The kitchen flooring wasn't even flush with the wall but we over looked that as the front yard was alright and I mean, what can we as renters do about the flooring? He served us an eviction notice in November when we paid our rent early in October. He got rude with my kids case worker who was just trying to get a check cut to him for rent when we had fallen behind due to a death in the family and lied to our faces about working with us to get caught up. IF YOU FIND YOURSELF RENTING FROM HIM HE WILL BE JUST AS RUDE AND JUST AS THREATENING AS HE IS WITH HIS TOWing situation. Instead of holding the furniture we could not move for 30 days after giving us an illegal 48 hour eviction notice he trashed it and left it in the front yard and broke it to pieces. I usually have a car cover on it and I asked it sits all the time with cover do you pull covers to check if parking pass is there he said no.
