I asked for a relaxing Swedish Massage, and the therapist was not listening and kept hurting me as she treated my body like bread dough, as if she was hurriedly 'kneading bread.' She had no technique, no finesse, just kept rubbing in a random way as if she'd never had professional training. She was causing me pain and I kept telling her to go softer and slower, as I couldn't relax and would stiffen up my body since she was hurting me. She even forgot to do some areas. I tipped her anyway because of the time she spent on me, but certainly didn't deserve it. the whole thing was a waste of time and money. Never again going to Thai Serenity Spa, it's anything but serene.

The massage tables are not long enough to fit a 6'4" man, his face didn't line up with the hole and his legs were far off the table. As for me, the hole where you put your face seemed weird, like my forehead hurt from resting on it. After the massage, the women left to let us get dressed. I left a tip on each massage table and went to walk out. The woman said "uhm excuse me did you forget to tip," which I thought was incredibly rude. A tip, while customary, is not required. Matt listened to my concerns and addressed the issue. I decided then that if I was to attempt a full marathon, I would incorporate massage after my three longest training runs in an effort to help stave off injury. I signed up for the Hartford Marathon and began training. I purchased a massage package and, as planned, went to an appointment following my highest-volume training weeks. Matt kept my broken body moving forward and helped relieve tension in areas I wasn't even aware were suffering. This isn't a spa-like massage: He really gets into the muscles and works out any kinks. I made it to marathon day injury-free, ran the whole race and enjoyed the experience. I would highly recommend him to athletes looking to incorporate massage into training, or to anyone in pain and in need of massage services. He is fantastic.
