The trail itself gets you up close to the rock formations of Smith Rock. Let me tell you, the scenery, the canyons, and the gorge that you get to see are spectacular. I really like how this company only does one ride a day and keep the groups small, we had only 5 ppl in our group. It kept things less hectic and I felt safer knowing our guide was able to keep an eye on all of us. Our guide Brian was super helpful and knowledgeable. He made sure you were comfortable on your horse and was very thorough with his instructions on the basics in order to enjoy your ride. He also gets extra points for taking great photos! We got to ride Slim & Sunny. Both horses were really sweet and easy to ride. You could tell Brian and his wife Melanie take great care of their horses. They know them pretty well and match each rider to their horse. No matter your experience level, I think anyone will have a good time and smith rock trial rides makes sure of that :)

I truly think selling pizza by the Alice and a small menu would be VERY helpful in their situation. When staff is overworked, they tend to forgot that being polite & welcoming is very important, especially with a small town like ours. We are avid boaters and have visited the restaurant almost every weekend in the summer since 2017, always the same issues.

They guided me through the process and my kids and I had the most amazing time exploring the Billy Chinook Lake. I rented the boat for four hours and that was not nearly enough time to see the entire lake. I don't think I was expecting the thing to be that huge. I am determined to rent a house about next time I come to Oregon or rent a boat for a full day.I would hands-down recommend this place. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

After visiting Smith Rock State Park. we stumbled upon this wayside/overlook where you can enjoy…read morevertical basalt cliffs and secenic river canyon over the Crooked River in Oregon. This spot is on the boarder of the Deschutes and Jefferson counties. This stop is located just 9 miles North of Redmond or 26 miles from Bend on the US Route 97 where this a rest area and viewpoint with tons of parking. Facilities include restrooms, picnic tables and dramatic viewing of the Crooked River Canyon from the pathways or the bridge. For photographers this is an amazing place to get a shot of the Crooked River Canyon and surrounding areas. You can also walk across the historic Crooked River High Bridge just north of the park. Three historic bridges connect both sides of the canyon, unfortunately only one can be crossed today by pedestrians. Two of Oregon's tallest mountains- Mt Hood and Mt Jefferson are visible from the viewpoint on a clear day. Fun facts: the park was named in honor of Peter Skene Ogden who led the trapping parties of the Bay Company back in 1925. Worth a stop to take in the views and enjoy part of history!

Anyways onto the real reason we stopped, we went here at the end of August. Made our way here after Smith Rock which was only about 10-15 minute drive, it was a beautiful sunny day, the view was breathtaking both ways. They had bungee jumping on the bridge when we went so that kinda blocked a bit of the view but was really cool to watch.

I thought I was great at tracking until I watched him as we chased bison around after they would put the slip on us. The facility makes you feel at home right off the bat. Everything was beyond what I was told prior to showing up. We were introduced to Jake who is one of The guides up there and he as well was an upstanding man. We had a great time with Jake and he is a great guide and an amazing skinner! We are already planning on booking our next trip. I highly recommend them if your looking for a great adventure.

Comfortable waders and nice rigs! Matt spent time with each one of us, giving tips, changing lures, adjusting our indicators, and showing us where to fish the river. By the end, Matt's knowledge of the river landed each one of us at least one fish with 2 member of our group landing three fish each! It was a wonderful early spring fishing trip, a very premium experience, and a great lunch to boot! Will definitely be back to book again!

One of the closest climbing areas to the bridge and, by proxy, your car…read more The most notably lines here are: 5-gallon buckets: if you have a friend that climbed at Smith one time...this is likely what they climbed. It's a fun 5.8 sport route. It is extremely crowded. Zebra-Zion: a 5.10a trad multi-pitch linkup. Probably the most fun route at Smith that I've second'd. I don't have the balls for 5.10a trad :-/

Karate Crack (5.10): test-piece trad route! You can get great pictures of folks sending it by rapping in from the top! Chain Reaction (5.12): I can't climb this. I did enjoy struggling through a heal-hook on top-rope though!

If you want to get some elevation in, you can take a left and cutoff onto the Misery Ridge trail. This trail connects to the Burma Rd Trail and Homestead Trail, the latter of which ends at the area of Smith Rock known as "The Marsupials".
