When quite young these two girls took lessons at a dance studio in the area however, they weren't really being trained to dance ‍, they just looked cute dancing around. Since going to CAPA, we've seen such growth and maturity in these two now pre teen and teen aged young ladies; and as for dance, in these 8 years, they've gone from running around a dance class to absolute professional dancers. We enjoy both the Summer Showcase and the holiday Nutcracker performance in December. Now we bring my 8 year old granddaughter and she truly loves seeing her friends up on stage. Growing up in the 1960's I trained at the San Francisco Ballet and another dance studio for Tap; and as great as they were, I wish CAPA were around then...it's got EVERYTHING right there in one place. These students walk in on the first day not knowing what to expect and they come out Professional Dancers ready to hit "Broadway" when they graduate. Also, you can find parking on the street. We came here to see Alantiss Morsiette Jagged Little Pill Musical. You can immediately go in the building and ther is a nice lady welcoming you and directing you to go upstairs or use the elevator for the show. There are bathrooms on the first floor and a wonderful art gallery as well. Going up the stairs in a spiral and on the second floor there were 2 entrances. Make sure to ask where your seat is for the right door to go in. There is plenty of seating with a table outside the theater. While in the theater it was small, but intimate as well. There wasn't a bad seat in the theater. There are no flat seating on the floor just goes up so all can see the stage. You can see and hear the actors clearly. There was a 15 min intercession and you can use bathroom on 1st and 2nd floor. They had drinks soda, beer and cocktails, but not too much of a menu. They also had some candy as well. It wasnt much of a selection. Everything went well and best part you could meet the actors after the show as they were outside with any meet and greet or questions. Would come back again and see a musical. It's not big like broadway audience seating but definitely some great shoes here.

The people working in the box office are amazing. Recently, I had a ticket for Jagged Little Pill, but unfortunately something came up and I could no longer attend on that day. Thinking I had nothing to loose, I visited the box office in person and explained my situation. They were so kind and understanding and exchanged my ticket for a different day. The people working at the snack cart are always polite and remain calm and professional when things get hectic. Unfortunately, the staff working the doors always ruin in the perfect experience for me. I once tried to open the theater door, not realizing it was too early. The woman at the door literally yelled at me that it wasn't open. Maybe it's because I'm a woman coming by myself and a little younger than the usual crowd, but not once have I been offered a program. I'll walk in with the crowd and everyone else is offered a program, but me. I see the women happily offering all the men and couples a program but they just glare at me, and I have to make a point of asking for one. This is not a one off situation. I'm in the theater now, ready to watch The Glass Menagerie, and it just happened again. Please speak to these people. Maybe have those working at the box office, or snack cart explain to them how to treat all patrons with respect and courtesy. One more thing. Please consider adding a message when people purchase tickets to refrain from wearing perfume or cologne when they attend a production. Maybe also post signs when people walk in? Many of us are sensitive to strong scents. I've had to change seats a number of times due to someone around me wearing too much perfume or cologne. Thank you.

Our daughter had her first experience with Lamorinda Theatre Academy this summer for one of their…read moresummer camps. She loved it and she really wants to come back for classes in the fall! It was a 3 week camp, 4 hours a day. In that short time, they produced a kids play...The Jungle Book...from start to finish, complete with singing, dancing, costumes and sets. It was amazing what they were able to accomplish. And the quality of that production was impressive...much higher than any of the other school plays or park district programs we have seen. Each day, the kids took "classes" in acting, singing, and dancing, but with plenty of time for play, games, and camp type activities. Renee, Rena, and Amy are very good with the kids. And the amount of care, creativity, and love that they put into their business really shows. The difference it made in our daughter, after just 3 weeks was amazing. She made new friends that she wants to keep in touch with. She is a little less shy than she used to be. And she sings and dances a lot more, even when she knows people are watching. I think it will be the highlight of her summer. And I think Lamorinda Theatre Academy's program will be a very good influence on her growth, poise, and confidence, and will be a lot of fun for her!

An intense, exciting time! They won an award for choreography at JTF West! She also did Triple Threat and High school Musical this summer. So to say the least, We Are FANs! We feel so lucky to have Chelsea teaching our daughter! A lovely personality and mentor, a highly skilled dancer and choreographer, a patient and kind Director. The Music Director Kevin warmly and patiently builds the student's musical understanding and performances. His contribution keeps musical standards high and performances enjoyable. The Business Director/Producer Rachel adds the no nonsense behind the scenes taking care of business ballast for all this creativity. We are grateful for her expertise to keep SingOut thriving. My daughter is attending a performing arts school in the fall. We will still be attending Tue/Thurs Musical Theater at SingOut. It is top notch and she loves it!

Originally named DLOC in 1959 when they formed a company performing Gilbert & Sullivan Light Operas. Eventually they changed the name to Diablo Theater Co. They had a youth program called STARS 2000, which continues to this day to operate. Diablo Theater Co. that use to produce large scale Musicals & Light Opera productions at the Lesher Center For The Arts in Walnut Creek, is no longer in business. STARS 2000 continues as their own company. There is no other youth program that is under the auspices of the Diablo Theater Co. and in fact their studios were sold and are under the ownership of Performing Arts Academy.

"Boil, Boil, Toil and Trouble."…read more I had the good fortune of seeing "Macbeth" recently, on a warm summer evening. The theater is just a short (and beautiful!) walk up the hill, but they have a free shuttle if you prefer to ride. The resident dramaturge, Philippa Kelly, gives a scholarly lecture before the show. She set the historical context for the play. I appreciated getting the background on Macbeth, and especially the purpose of the 3 witches. The amphitheater is a comfortable venue, and suits either the comedies or the tragedies. (I have seen both here.) For Macbeth, the stage had clear partitions, behind which the characters (and the witches) could traverse. This was also a handy place for the witches to toss "blood" in several scenes. I sort of knew it was coming, but the red gore still had a big impact on me. I thoroughly enjoyed the performance of Macbeth. The actors had clearly studied hard, and the play was professionally executed. I was especially impressed with Lady Macbeth, played by Liz Sklar. Of course, she has a meaty role, sleepwalking in one scene, and trying to get the blood off her hands in another. For cold nights, the staff has blankets for a nominal charge. I was delighted to also see many food options, as well as beer and wine. There are lots of wood tables to sit at and enjoy your meal. The only criticism I have is that for Macbeth the audio was spotty in a few places. For instance, the loud, background effects drowned out the 3 witches in one scene. I thought the ticket was pricey, but of course, buying a season pass is a better value.
